Ah KR engines, gotta love em!
-
Ta muchly. I will try this once it returns from the garage having some MOT work done. I was thinking maybe an overhaul of the linkages might sort the problem?

I can smell some group buys coming too.......

Since getting my car back from its engine rebuild (and covering all of 60miles due to it failing the mot, AGAIN) i have noticed the gearbox feels different. When selecting gears the gear stick seems to need to move alot more that before, if that makes sense. The angle at which the gear lever sits and the distance i have to move it (say from 1st to 2nd) seems to have gotten alot larger. I noticed in pictures within the gallery that peopls gearsticks would sit at large angles when in gear, and mine never used to, it only required slight movement in and out of gears, but this isnt the case anymore. Question is, was it operating correctly before the rebuild, or is it now behaving as it should? Also, the cluth and accelerator pedals are rather having (they also have been though), is there anyway of making them a little more comfortable on the old leg muscles? or is it pretty much tough cookie?

Ah yes, ive just looked at the last picture again, good call!

So, im thinking, lighter fluid to remove nasty marks, then foam upholstry cleaner for the entire thing? Sound like a good plan? Also, is the material the kind to bobble if too much force is applied? Ah yeah, another question too. When i removed mine the majority of the sponge around the edges decided to fall off too. Whats the best way of reattaching this? Some kind of fabric glue?

Never mind, i've just found a post all of 8 threads down that covers this exact same question. This can be deleted now, and i'll try using the search function next time too!

If they cost me less i wouldnt mind the sides and rear being vinyl tbh

I like that, looks rather swish. Would have been possible to leave the stereo in its original spot and put the cut holders where the stereo is now? Or would that not have worked due to the curvature of the surround?

Over the weekend i began to replace my sunroof (i say began because it rained, then rained a little more, and has done since). I've got the roof lining in the house now, and im wanting to clean it before putting it back in. Whats the best way to go about this. I was going to use a foam spray i have that penetrates the surface then lifts the dirt out, however, with the roof lining being essentially card board i decided against this. So whats the best way of cleaning it without it falling apart?

Shame you can't get the KR engine manual though, odd considering it was fitted to quite a few cars. Good point. With the passat, golf and rado im sure VW sold thousands and thousands of KR engines, would make sense for someone to publish something covering just the engine. Oh yeah, and i also have one of those Lindsey Porter books, i honestly wouldnt bother. It tries to cover too many models with too little space, everything is far too vague. You'll get phrases like "remove clutch", not much help to most people.

That site is rather handy. I could spent a fortune there getting the C lookin like it should.

My car has been to Midland VW and 2 garages in the last 3 months without any tax or MOT. I know this doesnt help. All i know is that you dont need tax or MOT as long as you're on the way too or from a garage for an MOT/repairs in preparation for an MOT.

Makes you wonder why we own these cars when its £120+ for some plastic roof sills
-
I could just buy the reflectors, but the left hand side has one of the lower clips snapped, so that doesnt secure properly, so i'll need a full new left hand headlight.
-
Next question, where to get some from? From the site above they're 193euros each, and my local stealer wants £90 a side! At least i dont own a later model, they're £175 a side. Can anyone buy a set cheaper on my behalf? I need to get these sorted asap as they're holding up the MOT. Or does anyone have a set for sale? Although they MUST have ALL the clips and everything in place, and the reflectors must be intact. Cheers for any help again.

I think i'll just buy some new ones, that way i'll have everything 100% as it should be. Besides, need to get it back in for the retest within 2 weeks By the way, thanks very much for the help guys, without this site i'd be in trouble, on a number of occasions now, much love :)

A bloke where my bro works has a minter, all i know is its red (i dont know much about the rocco's). I asked him the usual questions, who's is it, what model is it etc etc. Typical of my brother he just grunted "i dunno". Useless child.

Alfa Romeo 156 / 147 GTA 3.2 V6 - Discuss!

Whats the latest looking mean Alfa coupe? Bloke at work is thinking of gettin one, £300 a month on this finance thing he's on, hmmmm -
Ah bugger!! These cost me £100 too, and from the sounds of things i wont be able to re-sell them now! Next question is, where can i get a decent set from? The left one on these only has 1 of the clips on underneath, so doesnt even secure itself when screwed in, so i was failed on it being loose too.

My car failed its MOT a few months back and has been off the road since having various things sorted. Anyway, it failed on the headlights, and with these being battered i've bought a second set. So i have these good condition headlights, and some brand new philips bulbs (those ones that had that poop hot right up a while ago). Anyway, took it for the mot today and ive been told i have no headlight pattern. Instead of getting the pattern he showed me in the book i've got "a big round blob" (his words). Now, i was told this with one of the previous headlights too. So ive now tried 2 sets of bulbs and two sets of headlights, and im still getting the blob. Here are some pictures of my headlights. Can anyone please please help me. I think im gonna have to buy some brand new ones anyway, as the left hand one only has one of the clips underneath intact, and so isn't secured in place and i was failed on that too. Any help greatly appreciated!!

Just get a 1.8 valver and lets the revs carry on rolling round!
