Ok right here I go again yet another pesky problem with the rado. The engine starts and ticks over nicely for about 20 secs then it slowly starts to spltutter and cough and then just dies on me I ve tried everything Ib can think of so far and it still does the same. However when you disconnect the ecu vacuum feed it runs fine I ve tried another ecu on it and it still does the same with taht ecu when the vacuum hose is connected Anyone care to have a stab in the dark at it???

rattly knocking noise from mid to top end on a G60
Banana Man replied to Henny's topic in Engine Bay
Sorry to hear that Henny not good news at all :( -
Has anyone tried Brentacre insurance I've got the G60 insured with them now with all mods declared and even the x flow declared when it's finally finished and I can modify it further still anything upto 280bhp and all I have to do is let them know and it's still covered with no extra charge all in it's cost me £880 with 2 yrs no claims alot better than HIC's £1600 with the normal engine and £2100 with x flow LOL. The stupid thing is both brokers are underwritten by Highway policies makes that really annoys me how one insurer can be double of the other and still use the same underwritters!!!! Still I'm a happy boy for this year anyways 8)

Good luck Henny!!! Hope nothing too serious your having about as much luck as me LOL 8) -
LOL been there and done that as well Henny they're a bar*tard aren't they!!! but not as bad as doing 3 engine swaps in a week on the same car  my hands are mostly de- skinned now LOL

all g60 supercharged cars have the same chargers, but buying one off another car your just as likely to have the same problem as in that you dont know when it was last serviced. Instead of taking your car to germany or austria why dont you take the charger off yourself it is easy to do ( can help you if you need help) and send the charger off to a rebuilder like darren, steve and liam at G- werks and pitstop developments they will do you a very good charger rebuild to whatever spec you want and wil get your charger back to you in a few days!! Seems the better option than going out and buying a charger that could be an expensive paperweight 8)

I got a whole new battery tray from the dealers it went from the front of the ccar right back to the bulkhead had the old bit cut out as it was so rusty that the battery braket bolt wasn't attatched to anything underneath so the battery was just floating around! All in it cost me £60 as the battery tray was quite expensive then!!
-
white grease is fine for hinges and the like so that shouldn't have been the cause maybe it was just a pure coincidence!! :(
-
yeah proper gangsta style I think the car now says LOOK AT ME doesn't it hope I dont draw to much attention to myself in it although that is going to be quite difficult me thinks LOL
-
well anthracite are out and these are what I bought last week :D If you think they look shite doesn't really bother me as I like em :D 8)

You could only get green tints on the rado the only other option is standard glass which is clear!!! So all you need is a tinted glass and you'll be fine!!

Defo sounds like you have an intermittent break in the ground wire to ecu. The ground covers all the sensors ie cold start, idle switch, full throttle, lambda and the co pot I had this one the other weekend and once I knew what I was looking for and where to look it was all good!!! What you need is a multimeter that can check for continuity, unplug the ecu plug and stick one of the probes in pin 6 ( http://www.snstuning.com have a good diagram) check each of the earth leads to each of the sensors and work your way round if they all have continuity then try the power feeds by sticking the probe in the relevant pins in the ecu plug ( again check out the snstuning page as it is very useful) I would place a bet that it is a broken wire somewhere as the loom behind the engine does get hot and goes brittle doesn't take much for a lead to break after 10 years of engine heat! Give it a go and let us know how you get on. Hope this helps Ant

ok thanks for the info phat the supercharger engine is going back in for the moment now but I am still contemplating fitting the turbo engine at a later date it is now sitting back in the garrage for the moment!! :)
-
Has anyone converted they're G60 to turbo on her using the atp manifold as I am having clearance problems and no one seems to be able to tell me ways of getting round it without changing loads of parts and welding which I cant do! So if anyone can offer any advice it would be much appreciated. Alternatively if you can give me a ring on 07740482464 and give me a few ideas that would be even better :) cheers Ant

Ah apparently it's either a passat master cylinder I need or a golf mk3 one but I have been told that they aren't an easy swap lots of mucking around and welding required do you know if theis is right??
-
Got to admit those wheels do lok good on the old girl but as I said I already have the new wheels in my posession!!! And now I have more concerning issues on my hands!! The bloody turbo fouls on the clutch master cylinder so much so the rear engine mount doesn't line up. I ve made a few phone calls and it appears that you have to weld in a plate and mount a mk3 golf master cyl inside DOH and double DOH just my effing luck and the bloke I ve bought the kit off went on holiday yesterday so cant ask him how he fitted it DOH so now i'm in the real proverbial stuff :(

The new alloys turned up today mate the ones on it wont be staying on it for much longer! But I hate black or anthracite alloys so they aren't going to be dark I like to be able to see the alloys. Black or anthracite makes it look like it's got steelies when it's moving just my opinion :)
