Went down Brighton to play a few games of pool while I was there I had my jacket nicked from where we were playing, it had all my keys in it so basically I was stranded, called the police and all that sh*t and then phoned home for my spare set but I haven't got a spare ignition key,my dad brought down the spare cliffor key fob and managed to start the car but the only problem was the steering lock so called the RAC they said they would send someone over to sort that out waited over an hour for the guy to turn up and he said that he wasn't allowed to break the steering lock and basically wouldn't tell me how to do it.So I ve had to leave the car there for the night which I'm not too happy about. What I need is a little advice on how to break the steering lock so I can get the car home and worry about what I need to replace when I get it home does anyone know how to break it without damaging the steering column?

I think your being quotyed for the wrong belt as well matey the part number you need is b 026 145 271 It's a v-belt and is 9.5x 730mm any halfrauds or motor factors usually keep them in stock and they are never more than a couple of quid. Ring up your local dealer and quote that part number if they still tell you £20+ tell em to f*ck off and go get it from a motor factors

Got to be the mk2 gti for me too!!! I ve had my £150 gti now for 9 months, and covered probably 8k miles in it, and hasn't let me down once and it's got over 250k on the clock now, cheap reliable and it's still fun to drive!!!! :)

You can fit it to your car but there really isn't a point in it if it's supercharged, as you dont need to leave the car running to cool the oil down as it wont be boiling hot like a turbo'd car. You only need one in a turbo'd car where oil will sit in the turbo housing and will over time wreck the oil seals. Have you got a clifford alarm if you have and really want to keep the engine running for a minute or 2 get the intelli start add it is a nice trick gadget and you can start your car and get in with it already nice and toasty warm on those cold frosty mornings 8) Just my opinion

T the boost gauge vacuum hose into an outlet on the inlet manifold. You can T it into the vacuum hose that goes from the fuel pressure regulator to the inlet on the left hand side of the inlet or T it into the vacuum hose that goes from the brake servo to the middle of the inlet. If you have the boost return mod then I expect you have done away with the carbon cannister which will have left you with a spare entry point on the middle hose that goes to the inlet. Hope this helps

Hmmm maybe it was £30 retail for the pair then!!! It was a while ago since I enquired, but I know they were damn expensive for what they are!!! -
Windscreen Washer Jets - where from other than stealer

VAG charge £30 a piece for the washer jets iof iirc thats why I bought the non heated ones for £1.50 each and make up for the heated elements with more screenwash :) -
TOP GEAR Have the sport contacts they're the 3rd ones from the bottom at £61.42!!!

hmmmm are you sure the bolts are definately turning?? they are just normal m8 bolts iirc but They usually seize up and you end up rounding the head inside as it's an allen key head. Get some heat on it with a blow torch, if the head is knackered get an m8 splined bit and hammer it in ( will need new bolts afterwards) usually gets rounded allen heads out for me. Good luck

I ve got fk highsports cant fault the the quality and the handling of them! They aren't damper adjustables like the konigsports but are very good for the money

I ve got the go now with the new engine so thought I would also add the new plates for the show 8) Heres a couple of pics I thought I'd share with you :D

Havent got a pic for ya but the repair panel goes all the way back to the bulkhead. Mine wasn't rusty there it was only under the battery itself so when I got the repair panel I cut it down and had just the tray itself welded on.

Remote start, is there a kit that does this?
Banana Man replied to jedi-knight83's topic in General Car Chat
The answer to that question kev is that it only pulses the starter motor for a split second if the car doesn't catch it pulses again and if it dont catch after the third time I think it resets and you have to push the button on the fob again!! Starting at 4:30am in the morning my intellistart was a godsend especially on icy mornings as the heater comes on ( only if its set to on when you last got out of the car ) defrosts the windscreen and the rest of the windows with the heat generated so you can literally just get in the car and give it some stick! -

Warning Corrado Jacks can damage your health
Banana Man replied to K-rado's topic in General Car Chat
Having a car fall on top of ya is no fun!! I used std scissor jack on my old golf gti once and even took the precautionary measure of putting a pair of axle stands under it as well! I was tackling the inner tie rod which was being a b*tch to get undone from the rack end, so I was fully under the car attacking it when the jack slipped bringing the car down sideways which toppled the axle stands as well, I got pinned by the brake disc which was sat on the top of my shoulder ( 1" away from my throat  ) and my head got pinned between the driveway and the wishbone which fractured it, luckily my next door neighbour was close by and heard me saying ' gosh this hurts' :D and managed to pick the car up and get it re jacked up. Spent 6 hours in A&E! ! I learned a lesson that day scissor jacks are cr*p never get under a car without securing it first!! -
Try changing the oil temp switch on the oil cooler housing to the left of the distributer, it is the one at the front of the housing that would be the most common fault with no temp reading, if it's not that check the wiring to it as the wiring to it as after 10 years they do go brittle and breakdown hope that helps
-
Still the wrong way round mate!! the first click of the switch puts the fronts only on and second click puts both fronts and rears on together!!! :)

cheers jay! :D

Well an hour or so the corrado made its first voyage with the all new engne and all I can say is WOW!!! 8) You just have to :D everytime you feather the accelerator 8) I obviously cant put the power down yet as everything has to bed in first but even off boost you can feel the torque and the power waiting to be unleashed :D Who needs 16v G60 power when you've got this engine :D :D
