I was going to say petrol as well. Disconnecting the battery will reset the ECU so it will be learning again which is why it hunted for idle when first started, there is an ECU reset procedure in the Knowledge Base which is the best way of getting the ECU to 're-learn'. After a while though the ecu will have learnt what it needs and it should drive as normal.

Good news karl! And well done on scaring the schitt out of him  i done the same thing lastnight, had a guy coming to pick some bits up that i sold on ebay and once money had changed hands etc he asked me about my corrado and said that he is looking into getting one so i tok him for a blast, i think his exact words were "Fcuk me this thing goes like a b@stard! I gotta get me one of these!"
-
Yeah i think VAG are plastic ones, the one that came out of mine was plastic and had a few blades broken off  but i didnt bother with a genuine and just went down to my local car parts place and asked for a water pump and the replacement i got had nice chunky metal blades. I cant remember the make of it now though, i will have to see if i have still got the box somewhere.
-
I got a new water pump with metal blades from my local car parts shop, didnt know they were hard to get hold of?
-
They look awesome Andy! Atleast you know the rx2's have gone to a good owner ay
-
Glad you like them mate  yeah when funds allow im going to get some chunky hubcentric spacers and longer bolts and get them out! My mate has done that on his audi a4 and they loko superb, he also claims the car feels much more planted, which is what i want. Spaced out with a rear ARB and it will be spot on 8)
-
Not with a rotrex supercharger  takes a few minutes. But even supercharged with a 70c stat mine doesnt get any hotter than the figures yours is getting, which is great!
-
Karl mate like you the idea of an rotrexed R32 in a corrado is just awesome but as you cant do both then i would say go with the rotrexed vr to start as like kev said they are still bloody good engines and capable of silly power and its not as if you have a high miler now is it  if it was me i would probs go for the nice low mileage reliable engine first then charge it when funds allow but as your engine has only done what 40k ish?? then its going to last especially with the upgraded gasket and bolts etc!

Odd sounds after fitting suspension - UPDATE, ARB
herisites replied to Jim Bowen's topic in Drivetrain
Mine also creaks at the rear, just never got round to sorting it out  but yeah i believe that you shouldnt do the rear suspension bolts up too tight with the wheels off the floor, so leave them loose ish and then put the car down on and then tighten the bolts up. When you say it sounds like a spring is moving that could be top mount related. My problem was at low speeds turning the steering i got a clunking sound which sounded like the springs turning as the steering was turning, it turned out to be the top mount bearing in upside down so the bearing wasn't doing its job. Changed it over (well replaced with a newer mk4 golf one) and all is silent now. -
Good man Stan, will be interesting to see what they go for!

 i wouldnt consider myself a wheel whore just yet but i can see how easy it can be to become one
-
Yeah they do look good on the C, even more so on a lower blackberry C with lower profile tyres  Yours are more of a bargain though karl as the reserve on them is more than £50, if i got them silly cheap like you did karl then i would consider getting them as winter wheels for now and making my mind up of which of the 2 i want to keep, but being back at uni and not having any detailing work on at the mo i cant really afford to get a second set of wheels :( Besides i like the RX2's so sod off
-
How could you show me them after i have just spent a fair whack on these wheels
-
Yep the ride is slightly better than the brocks  mind you i have been on the speedies for a while and these are a teeny tiny bit more uncomfortable than them but a good comprimise as they certainly feel more stable and grippier than the speedies.
-
Cheers Stan mate. Yeah i originally thought about some chunkier wheels as i think they suit the C best and i liked the look of it on the speedies but needed bigger. In an ideal world i would like the 7 spoke Audi TT wheels which are 17" but i would want them in 16's as the 17's weigh a ton and would ruin the ride/handling. I was considering the 16" 5 spoke TT speedlines which Karl now has as his winter wheels but these RX2's came up which i have wanted for a while so couldnt resist!
-
I have thought about going darker with them, especially as they are 2 piece split rims so i could have polished lips and a darker center, but im not keen as have done numerous pshops myself and i think that the bright wheels suit the colour of the car better.
-
Cheers Michael, i thought you would like them.
-
I know exactly what you mean Stu i loved the look of it on the Brocks but they just werent practical, i need bigger brakes now its supercharged especially as i plan on going for more power eventually!
-
It doesnt need bumping as its a sticky but ... bump!
-
Well that sounds even more logical really as it does smell like its running rich. I am going to check the sensor tomorrow when i get a chance so will see what i find.

Alright alright keep your hair on! Took a few pics after rolling it out the garage and then a few at my mates garage but will only post a couple. The wheels are BBS RXII's from the mk3 golf anniversary so they are the 7x16 version not the 6.5x16's on the mk4. They were originally Andy's (mk3 yeti) wheels but now he has some wheel porn on his car so he gave these up to me complete with as good as new tyres. They aren't as in ya face as the Brocks but thats the whole point, although i loved the look of the Brocks they were a rather uncomfortable wheel to drive on plus they wouldnt allow for bigger brakes, i have the 288's on now but will be going 312's very soon and these RX2's allow for 312's with a tad of caliper shaving and they will be more comfortable as well as drive properly, plus i think they look wicked on my car and really go with the height and colour. I drove the car earlier with them on and they are spot on, the car feels more stable and planted than on the speedies but at the same time its not steering it self and crashing like mad over bumps like the brocks did. My next plans for the car over the next few ... well months i suppose as i am a stooodent now and cant afford much (machine polish anyone???), is 312 brake upgrade (already have the calipers from the 288's so half way there ish). Find out why its running like a bag of poo, i have suspicions now on a dodgy temperature sensor which could be readin the car is hot when its cold meaning the ecu wont provide much fuel on idle hence why it struggles to idle  but also need to get it scanned with VAG-COM as it could still be lambda or MAF related. I also plan on getting a metal spacer head gasket to lower the compression as well as ARP head and rod bolts and then maybe go for more power, about 12 psi maybe :D oh and a 25mm rear ARB to improve the handling!
-
All in good time Andy mate all in good time  Im going to roll it out the garage any minute now and take some pics of it rolling on its new wheels, but gotta pop out so will have to post them up later on.

Yes mate the MAF is upstream of the charger so the order is: Cone Filter > MAF > Charger > TB It has some flexible air ducting between the MAF and charger so the MAF isn't too close to feel too much turbulence from the charger.

A painter is bound to suggest that really, what did he say was wrong with it? You might find it will come up like new with a proper machine polish. Where abouts are you from?
