Hold on?? You changed all the fronts and not the rear and yet you mention all the time your car still feels strange to drive?? Well its obvious its going to be the rear bushes really as you will have a nice stiff front and a sloppy rear, get them done! I only done my fronts and i can tell its the rears that need doing. Mic mate im still good for next weekend to do all these babies, should be a piece of piss doing all the fronts its just the rears im not 100% on, meh it'll be alright  If the rear one's aint too bad to do you will have to come back and help me do mine another day :D i will be lending a garage and helping hands all day after all ;)

Ok, havent updated this for a while, mainly because i havent done any really  but i did do the black BMW 330 coupe before xmas and never got round to putting pics up so thought i would to see if it would swing people into getting me to do their cars pretty soon ish as need the cash   So the car in question was a BLACK BMW 330 coupe which was rather nice! The owner is the son of the guy who's Z4 i done and who owns the awesome driveway with an M6 and DB9  This is how the car looked when i first rolled it out the garage (the pictures have lost a fair bit of quality due to rezising them unfortunately :( ): The car got the exact same treatment as the Z4 which is my 'Gold' Service which is basically as good as it gets. I got their at around 9:30 in the morning and the car was in the garage waiting for me, i rolled it out, washed it using the usuals Snow Foam through the foam lance and left to dwell whilst wheels were cleaned with acid-free wheel cleaner, then it was pressure rinsed and then washed with Megs Hyper Wash using 2 buckets and lambs wool mitt. Then the car was left wet and i clayed it using Sonus Green clay which came up like this: Quite dirty! After it was clayed it was washed again and dried and at this point was already looking good: But i knew it was going to look bad once i rolled it in the garage and put the halogen on it which i was right about, here are some before shots: Pretty bad! (again sorry for the quality of the pics!) So i set to it with the machine and tested on the bonnet, again being BMW the paint was nice and soft so only a finishing polishing was used on a polishing pad which achieved about 90% swirl removal (all i usually go for due to now having a paint measuring guage) and here are some after shots: Here is a 50/50 shot on the tailgate: The whole car was polished minus the bumpers as would rather not use the rotary on plastic parts so i just polished them with scratch-x and then Super Resin to hide most swirls and to be that did a great job. After polishing i gave it all a quick polish by hand with Super Resin to fill any left over swirls and then it was given 2 coats of Victoria Concours wax (spit shined). Here are after shots (didnt get very good ones unfortunately as it was pitch black so just garage shots): Total time was around 8-9 hours being a fairly large car compared to the Z4 for example. The owner was very pleased with the results and has kept my number so hopefully i will be back at some point for the DB9 8) or just some mates cars or something  Thanks for looking :)

Im good mate, yep my car's been sat in the garage pretty much for the whole of the winter and Doofy has been getting some stick i can tell ya  but im not rushing it, just waiting for Kev to get his car sorted to come back and give me a hand do the chains then we can put her back together and see if she runs :( Im ashamed to say but if you saw my car at the moment you would be shocked, its covered in about an inch of dust :( which was down to my dad cutting blocks outside the garage, all the dust went straight under the door and covered my car, so once she's done and back running she is getting a MASSIVE clean and polish  Well i will check with the folks and see what they say, im pretty sure they would be ok with it for a day. I got a few VW and few GSF with mine, the wishbones, ARB bushes and all replacement bolts were VW but i think my ball joints and track rod ends were GSF. Also replaced wheel bearings with VW ones as well, but i had to get them done at a garage because i dont have a press and didnt fancy cobbling one together! All the front parts are fairly simple to do depending on whether all the bolts play nice which mine all did apart from my track rod ends which had to be angle grinded and heated up to get off!! So get some PlusGas and just keep soaking all bolts in that whenever possible up until you do them if i were you so you dont run into any trouble! If bolts play nice its simple enough, the wishbones/ball joints/track rod ends are very simple to do, the ARB bushes are a bit of a pain in the arse though as you need to lower the subframe to do them!

And shagpile too? Strange I thought you aleardy did Robert....  no shagpile just yet mate!

Forgot to mention we have heaters in the garage now as well 8) OH YEAH!! I could seriously live in my garage now
-
Yeah that would be a good idea, but if you do then you would have to come to mine as my car aint going nowhere for a while! We have cleared our garage up a LOT and its now a nice workshop with space for 2 cars (mine is already in there with the engine apart) so i can ask and if you like we could tackle a few of your jobs like all front bushes one day at mine? Im pretty sure it would be ok with the folks as my mates usually come to me for help, got most tools for the jobs, only thing we lack is any sort of press/vice etc that could be used for rear bushes. But all front bushes are easy enough if you replace the wishbones rather than pressing in/out bushes. Up to you mate, im not exactly 'local' but im pretty sure in a day we could get the all the front parts done.

I cant see how its cost £40,000 myself!! :? Kev, think its 300bhp at the wheels, says 370 at the fly which is what your 392 was at wasnt it? Either way though still not as much as yours and has almost double your boost!
-
I cant see how it would lose that much water from a gone headgasket without you knowing about it! The side bit that weeps is nothing, if it was to go it would be between the coolant channels leaking water into the chambers meaning you would be getting a lot of white smoke out the exhaust and the rear windscreen would be misted up all the time. Its most like the stat housing which is easy to change.

Robs Project 'Doofy' - Gone but not forgotten!

Looks like you got your way after all Jon, Doofy is staying with me  Had a proper look at that golf today, my dad is the one that mentioned to me and he had only really seen the back of it and mostly in the dark. Well it was a complete pile of wank! The paint was scratched to fcuk but that didnt bother me as would of been a challenge for me with some wet and dry and machine polishe, but the tit that owns it left the window slightly open so the inside was mouldy :pukeright: !! and it needed wing mirrors, a few things didnt work so wouldnt pass mot anyway yet, and mainly the clutch didnt work which was supposed to be new, obviously the guy who put the new clutch in was useless as the car went in gear but nothing happened, so even though i am competent at fixing it whats the bloody point. I would of liked the car as a challenge to restore to looking good, but at this point in time its just not ideal for me as it would need some money and mainly time and as i only have a few months left at uni the polo is more that good enough and is MINT in comparison! -

I would do mate but tbh i just want something easy and comfortable and a golf mk3 is that, and i would be silly to turn it down at the price i can get it for, i could sell the new tyres on it and make my money back basically!! It will be more reliable and more economical as well which is most important at the minute, the polo is just drinking the fuel as all the roads to uni are 60-70mph and only being a 4 speed its revving its tits off! -

For sale if anyone wants it  Got the chance of a fairly yidy mk3 golf for a good price but need this to sell in order to get it. Im looking for £150. I paid £100 but its had new fuel tank, new exhaust, G40 suspension and brakes with new discs and pads so spent a bit on it. Its got a few things that need sorting which i may get round to, the front wheel bearings need doing but these ones are held in with a c clip not pressed so its not a big job. -
I told you i thought it was lower than 40mm! Mine was lowered 40 when i first had it and yours seemed much lower than mine was, almost as low as mine with the coilies on which cant be far off 60mm. Whats the secret then mate? Is it rimmage secret or engine secret??
-
I dont see the point tbh mate, there isn't a hell of of major parts that make up an engine as long as the bottom end is ok then its just head work and the timing chains and the rest of the parts round the engine that could go like pumps etc. I done my headgasket a few weeks back with kev, my engine has done 140k. My bottom end was fine just the head that needed some work, the main job is the timing chains which me and kev are doing this weekend. So all you really need to do is buy a reconned head (kev has one i believe which he only wants £100 for), replace the head gasket whilst the head is off, replace all gaskets for exhaust and inlets etc which doesnt cost much and then the chains which i am not really looking forward to doing. The engine will last a lot longer, they are pretty solid things, then as funds allow just gradually upgrade parts around it.

Hey Alex, thanks for the comments mate, glad you are still happy with the golf, i was chuffed at how well it came up! And well done for keeping on top of it, its always good to hear someone keeps looking after their car after i have spent a days work on it! Yep Keith was rather pleased indeed with the Z4 as was his wife who said it looked a different shade of blue :D I done John's 330 the other week as well, havent got round to putting the pics up yet but being black i think for now you could just imagine how good it looked after!! John was very pleased indeed so hopefully he takes a bit more care with it now as well, im sure he will as i made it pretty clear that it will easily go back to how it was if he didnt and being black it wouldnt be hard to mess up again! I will get the pics up pretty soon of the beemer.

They won't fit yet... Gonna get the acrhes sorted and purchase some good coilies for the spring. Then they'll go on. I'll just run these bbs over winter then get them refurbed while the brocks are on. I still love the the bbs, just hate spending every sunday morning scrubbing them clean  Plus who doesn't love some filthy dish? Yeah cant beat a big dirty dish  and you are going to love cleaning the brocks when they are on mate, just a quick swish round with a sponge and they are clean. Most of the dirt used to come off with just the pressure washer after a good soak in some shampoo! -
