Like your style Michael! Spending before you even get the car  Spill the beans then what you been buying? Hmm i dunno about black wheels you know, i think black wheels with oak green will look cool but with the brightly polished red im thinking it has to be some bright silver steelies to compliment it! -

STOP IT!!! im just going to fit these parts so it drives and stops a bit better, give it a service and then just use it for uni! It might need dropping a tad more though once the wider steelies are on  but i might just cut the springs  -

More bargains i afraid, i just cant help myself at the moment! Tomorrow morning i am going to be picking up the complete suspension and brake set up from a G40 all for £50 which includes front and rear shocks/springs, the front shocks have the hub carriers etc still attached with the brake calipers/carriers/discs and pads! The springs are also lower so it will be sitting a bit lower although. And they are only up the road from the wheels so i am going to be picking the wheels up as well as the suspension/brakes in one go! But i promise thats it then!!! (he says!!!) -
Fairy nuff! Im slowly getting there  Can you not get an all in one boost/AFR/EGT etc etc thingy mabobby that tell you it all in one go to save having loads of gauges everywhere like jap cars!!
-
Im in Rushden, Northamptonshire mate. I am ok to fit the charger as Karl is going to help me (legend!). So will get it in and running. Then when i get the boost and AFR gauges i may need some more help setting all that up as well as get an understanding of what im looking out for! I know what im looking for on the boost guage, not to go over 7psi (although im pretty sure storm have said it can be ok up to 8psi at a push without foobaring the engine but to be safe they recommend 6-7, i will phone them!), but the AFR i am completely in the dark about, i just need one of them that has Rich - OK - Lean on with big colourful lights green for good and red for bad and i think i will be ok
-
Cheers for that Kev. So the revotec is no good then? :( shame that as it looks so oem! but at the end of the day i really will need an acurate reading as the regulator im getting off storm is only good for about 7 psi and we dont know exactly what psi i will reach with the 80mm pulley on my charger (remembering its the older SP30-84 model so wont be anywhere near as powerful as mr_fusions 75mm on a C30-94!), Martin at R-tech said the 80mm on my charger will give about 0.5 bar which is about 7 psi correct? If it gives more than that and the regulator is only good for 7psi max then its going to be running lean isnt it? Which again is where the AFR will come in to play! Is it still a good idea to have these gauges even after the ECU has been mapped properly? Most guys running chargers (vortechs mind you) dont have these and its always just been a case of fitting the charger, mapping it and off they go! Im just trying to work out if i can afford these right away, i will definately be able to afford them soon as my ahem student loan ahem will be coming my way   but i intend to fit the charger very soon, but the car doesnt need to be used for a while so i can fit it and get it runnig and just try to hold myself back from taking it for a drive until i know its running correctly. Would any of you guys be able to help set all this up? As i have NO idea on how it all works and as soon as you guys start talking geeky im totally miffed!!
-
Cheers Stu, i have emailed him so will wait to hear from him. Can you give me a bit more info on what yours is and how it works etc? Any pics? Had a sneaky look on ebay and there are some that can be got cheap but im guessing they are going to be a bag of w*nk! To be fair THIS one doesnt seem too bad and would match my DDI dials nicely :D i have got a feeling though that you are going to tell me to stay clear and the one i want is going to be several hundred pounds or something :(
-
Cheers for that info Dave. How much we talking then for one of them and how do they work/fit?
-
I am a bit far from you mate (over 2 hours drive!) but i dont mind travelling if you can cover fuel costs. I am starting detailing soon as i go back to uni, i can either just give it a good clean or can go the full hog and get the machine polisher on it to really bring it back to showroom condition. However if you fancy giving it a go yourself (great fun!) then i dont mind talking you through everything you would need stating whats best to use and the do's and dont's of car washing/polishing etc. PM me mate :)
-
Cheers mate! Well i dunno whats cheap and whats not! Them revotec ones are £50, so is that ok?
-
Do turbos and superchargers use the same boost guages or are they different? Im looking at THIS one.
-
B&Q table legs   Cheers for the info on the boost guage, i am going to be (finally!!) fitting my audi vdo gauges in my dash soon so im just going to drop the voltage and replace with a nice oe looking revotec bost gauge! Its a shame you dont do ebay mate as the company i got the pipes from sell the straights in different lengths as well, i got a 30mm one but think i should of definately gone shorter, when i ordered it though i thought that the engine bay was bigger than it actually is!! I heard lots of good reviews about Storms regulator at editon especially from CrazyDave who told me it would be a better option than a BEGI as its already set up for the boost i will be running. Apparently its a modified 944 regulator with CNC machined parts (?) to suit the Rotrex and is designed for use with the MAF as well.

Cheers Kev, yeah it is quite fun, mainly exciting as you start to see it all in place and it becomes a lot more real that soon it will be fitted and working and i can start playing with M3's (ok maybe not M3's with only 6psi ). And yeah i know what you mean, its such a simple task of fitting pipes to the charger but if you dont have the right angles/lengths etc it becomes a ball ache! But its sorted now, my 76mm 135 degree elbow turned up today finally YAY! As well as the ISV tap thingy. I put it all together and it certainly needs some chopping as its far too long but its 100% the right setup now so its ready to go!!! I got the alloy pipes off ebay mate, i know ebay's not usually the best source but its metal so cant be too bad, i didnt go for their silicon hoses as they did look a bit cheap and nasty and wanted to make sure i got trusted ones. I just need to chop them down a bit so will need to get the hacksaw out!! Hopefully i can fit it at the weekend, it just depends on Storm getting me the fuel regulator in time (but tbh Andy said its got my name on it so he wont let it go until i tell him i dont want it etc and he said he will send it next day delivery so i should definately have that in time as im going to ring him today), and whether or not Karl can come and help me! I also need to pop into VW on the way home and get a new oil filter for when i change the oil. I didnt get the silky in the end, too much money and Karl lent me his halfords trade card so i got some Mobil oil trade price as well as NGK plugs (same ones you told me kev) and few bits for the beastly polo  My next update should hopefully be pics of the charger fitted or being fit :D :D :D Oh and how do you set up a boost gauge as i think i will definately need one to make sure im not exceeding 7psi?? Does it plumb into the intake pipes or something?
-
Cheers mate. Yeah it has its own oil supply so no need to tap into the sump like with the vortechs. However the oil supply comes at a cost because you can only use Rotrex's own traction oil which cost me 100 euros for 1 litre  so that part sucks! The oil supply has its own oil cooler in line as well, mine has a mocal on it.

Its ok mate, the wiper is just p-chopped off, im not going to delete it though it was just an idea i had when i first got it but after driving it about since i have realised it does get pretty dirty!! I think its going to be silver! Black just doesnt cut it, the silver really stands out. Just need to get them ahem i mean Jon just needs to get them for me ahem  and then can start sanding and spraying them 8) -

I cant decide now, do i go for standard silver or black? And if i go black do i go for a silver lip or red? -
Quick update. I have got the piping sorted out now finally. I received some alloy pipe today and i have a 76mm 135 degree silicon elbow coming tomorrow (was delivered today but nobody was in ). I have ordered the little self seal plug thingy for the ISV (thanks again for the link Kev, also might be getting one of those very OEM looking boost gauges!). So here is a quick mock up of the pipes now, in the pic i have just put the 76mm 90 degree elbow in place of what will be the 135 degree elbow just to show it reducing etc: As you can see its a wee bit long so some cutting with be needed, i will need to shorten the 90 degree alloy elbow that i have connected to the charger as that sits way too high so that will be cut down enough so it bends pretty much straight away. I will also need to cut the straight bit down a tad, but i am going to try and cut as much of the silicon down as poss as apposed to cutting too much metal as i want as least silicon as possible really, but i will need to cut the metal pipe a bit atleast. Here is an idea of how they will be cut down (this has the 50mm 13 degree elbow on though and not the reducer): And with some clever photoshopping skills here is how its going to look when complete hopefully: Very sexy i think you will agree  I am going to ring Storm tonight and order their rising regulator which is a customised porsche 944 fuel regulator which is set for 6-7 psi and maybe even push 8 but im only going to be running about 6-7 anyway hopefully! Its very similar to the BEGI apparently but with the BEGI you need to set up the fuelling yourself where as theirs is already set which saves me a job! I also got a new Jetex cone filter at edition 38 at the weekend so thats that sorted and i will just need to get some flexi pipe to run the MAF and cone in the bumper somewhere. So if all goes to plan i will be fitting it this weekend :D

SRP followed by EGP is a great combo and followed by a good wax is even better. On your colour i wouldnt use 476s, it will be good enough and will last bloody ages but it may cloud the finish a bit as its not really suited for darker colours. The 915 is better as it has a higher nuba content giving a much better finsh on darker colours and lasts just as long ie AGES! The concours is superb wax as i use it on mine, it doesnt last as long as the collinite though so is more about the show, but if you dont mind topping up a bit more i would go for that. But if you are going to spend around £30 on the concours then you could also go for DODO Juice which has recently come out, i havent tried it but have seen it used and it gives an amazing finish and lasts pretty well iirc.

Hi mate, it was you at edition 38 wasnt it?? If so then yeah i think your car could definately do with a polish as it was nice and swirly, but being black its hard not to swirl it really! I am going to be detailing soon as my part time earner as im going back to uni, the polo is going to be the daily hack and the corrado will be sitting in the garage hopefully with the rotrex on!! So if you aren't a million miles away and want me to do it then thats fine. I havent been doing it for that long so i wouldnt be as good as some detailers like Nathan for example, but i do a good enough job i think. The polo has old single stage paint ie no lacquer so was a piece of piss to polish, modern cars have lacquer and german cars especially have lots of very hard lacquer so are a lot harder to polish! If you are interested PM me and we can discuss it further mate! -

Well i dunno whether to refurb them in bright silver like you say or spray them black :? Im not doin the starsky and hutch white stripe! Im going to be using the car to go around valeting/detailing so i dont want to embarass the people parking up on their driveways  I done a quick p-chop though  -
Looking good michael! I knew you would get it as soon as i saw you looking round it. And you now know what i mean when i say you take how the corrado drives for granted, old golfs (and especially polos ) aren't very nice to drive really, they are sufficient and with mods can handle like they are on rails but generally not so nice, get back in the corrado and it feels like a new car! It felt awesome driving my rado at the weekend after not driving it for just a few weeks! Atleast you have got a good colour so in the future if you do decide to start tinkering you know its going to clean up well and look pretty smart!!

Haha this polo is SOO cheap to mod! Look what i just won on ebay, ok they werent exactly going to be expensive but still!! BARGAIN Wheels Expect to see it slammed on these steelies very soon! Im going for 'Pet-Rat Look' pet rat being a clean and tidy rat style, classic rat look with rust and filth etc are imo like fooking great sewer rats that look horrible, mine will be like a house rat thats very clean and looked after  -
Digging this out!!! I have had some audi vdo gauges sitting around for bloody ages but i never got the loom. I have put up a wanted for some if anyone has some but if not then i may just wire them up myself. Do i need any special wire to do this or can i just use the same copper wire for all? How much would i need if i got some off a reel?
