  1. Dont do it mate, your car will look like a beach buggy and people will just laugh tbh. 9x16's only go with slammed C's really. I put my 9x16's on when the car was lowered 40mm and it still looked stupid, not its on coilies and lowered a lot more and it looks awesome, but then catching is a BIG issue as vwdeviant pointed out!! on a valver/G60 you can get away with your arches rolled and catching might not be too bad, but on a VR6 which has a wider track than the other models rolled arches isnt enough, ask me how i know  As for the Borbets, 7.5 x 16 ET30 will fit fine on a valver, but as said 225/45 is WAY to big tyres, they must look like balloons! You want 205/40 or 195/45 for a bit of stretch as mentioned.
  2. Mine might be going up for sale soon. Thinking about a turbo'd E36 M3 project or Sport Quattro replica. If i had the money i would buy your S2 ANY DAY mate, its fcuking gorgeous with some silly power to match!! Oh and really enjoying watching this thread, some great progress so far! Wish i had the time/money/skill to restore a car like this! I am going to be getting an old mk1 for a uni ride soon so i am going to practise on that :D
  3. Hi Lee, never really posted in this thread before but yesterday i took the time and read through pretty much all of it and i just want to say your corrado is stunning mate! I am with some of the others in not being too keen on the rear end BUT i think it looks good on your car, i have seen similar on other cars and hated it but yours works with the whole package! Is the plan of going turbo still happening?? Oh and i have seen some of your detailing work over on DW and you have really come a long way with it and done some awesome work! Much better than me thats for sure!! Keep it up :D Rob.
  4. Yeah he gets on my nerves as well mate, but never really gone as far as proper violence yet! ;) :D :D Pmsl
  5. Who me or the car?? i think it could easily be both, my car definately gets PMT but then so can i so i think we have just clashed at the moment which isnt good. You are right though, the car causes me stress sometimes but i wouldnt swap it for anything, i fooking love the thing!!
  6. Thats the only thing keeping me going at the minute, i know it has its flaws but i also know its not going to take much to sort it out and soon it will have a fcuking great Rotrex supercharger bolted on the side of it :D so bring on the days of sunday morning SUPERCHARGED thrashes :D :D :D
  7. Im getting really depressed with my car at the moment! I have experienced a LOT of high times with it and it seems at the moment i am experiencing the inevitable low times :( I took my car into the garage yesterday to check out the wheel bearings as i could hear a droning (i dunno when they were last done and running 9x16's doesnt help!). They ring me in the afternoon and tell me they cant hear anything ... ARE YOU FCUKING DEAF! I can hear a blatent wheel bearing drone. They say they will take it out again and ring me if they have any problems. I dont hear anything all day so assume all is well, go to pick it up and they have done fcuk all! They just say the same, "we took it out but couldnt hear anything coming from the front wheel bearings" so i go out with them for another road test, we are driving along and i hear the noise and point it out to him, "oh yeah i could hear that before but that sounds like rear bearings to me" WTF??!! I take the car in the get the bearings checked, they have clearly identified there is a worn bearing but they do sod all about it because i just thought it was a front bearing! Tits! So i tell them regardless of it being front or back i want it sorting out so i booked it in again for today, but i told them they might as well do both the rears considering both would of cost the same to do as one front. Picked it up about half hour ago, and right enough my rear wheel bearings were shot so they replaced them, lovely jubbly! However i brought it home and i could still hear a faint wheel bearing droning which im adamant is the front wheel bearing that i must of fcuked when i changed my CV joint (had to belt the bastard out pretty hard so bound to upset the bearing!). So im not very happy really, well im ok with the changing the rear bearings as from the sound of it they REALLY needed doing anyway so im glad they are done, but i still need to now get the front done. So sod paying them again i think i will just get some bearings myself, take the hubs off and just take the hub and new bearings down the garage and get them to press them in to save me some money! I can do both at the same time then and atlease i know they are done. But not only that thats annoying me, it just seems that lately my car is sounding old ie more rattles, squeaks, clunks and road noise etc which is getting on my tits. I have to obviously take the dash apart at the weekend to change my heater matrix so whilst thats all apart im going to clean it all up and stick shed loads of felt round it to stop rattles and squeaks from the dash. Then thought might as well do the rest of the interior and whilst at it shove a load of Dynamat down to make the car a whole lot quieter!! Then fit my new brakes and hoses which will be a good thing and then back to bad things which is trying to stop my fcuking top mounts clunking when i turn the steering and stop the rear suspension squeaking (think i heard you shouldnt do the rear strut bolts up fully with the car off the ground and to do it when the car is on the ground settled??). I WILL have a nice car and i WILL enjoy driving it again!! Rant over :(
  8. Well i just ordered my new matrix. Got it from GSF in the end as VW quoted me £115 +VAT so about £135! GSF on the other hand was £50 including VAT and delivery! Only things is the GSF one doesnt come with the warranty that would come with one from VW but sod paying that much more! I also opted for next day delivery so i will definately have it for the weekend.
  9. Not sure about the track rod really, but you might be able to set it up straight enough to get it to a garage by using a spirit level and/or something really long and straight that you could line up with the rear wheels maybe? I had to do my camber with a spirit level after changing my cv joint, the tire was resting on the suspension leg when i first put it back together, wondered why it felt weird to drive!

    Noisy Miltek

I would be happy to take someone out in my car to prove mine isn't loud at all! I cant stand loud exhausts, just gets on my tits but mine is spot on, nice and quiet until you put your foot down and even then it just sounds like engine noise not loud exhaust noise. When its really hot it pops a bit more and when you rev it it sounds pretty loud but in the car it isn't.
  11. If it was the outer CV joint i dont know of any bush mate, when you put the new joint on you should put the boot on first then there are 2 plastic washers which need to go on the correct way round and sit in grooves on the driveshaft (the joint sits against these), a C clip which clips in to a groove on the end of the driveshaft spline and then the joint, obviously packed full of grease and then clipped up. I replaced my n/s outer cv joint at the weekend and thats what mine was like anyway.
  12. If i told you i would have to kill you! I actually got it from a guy on the Edition 38 forum, just happened to spot a for sale thread for some meter length sticky back felt for about a fiver i think it was so i bought a few rolls. His username was Garfayliu if you can find him :)

    Noisy Miltek

Im really pleased with my Miltek, its not loud at all, when cold you can barely hear it but whenits warm its just a nice subtle rumble on tick over and when sitting at high speeds its almost silent until you put your foot down again and it just compliments the VR6 soundtrack. I did notice though at the last meet i went to, think it was CCGB National Day, i was talking about my miltek with someone (Faye maybe?) and we saw another corrado with a miltek and the bore of mine was smaller, the tip of the exhaust itself was identical but the other guys bore was bigger than mine, so i think thats why mine is fairly quiet. May be worth checking out. EDIT: Click the link in my sig to view my gallery, on the first page i have some (crap quality) pics of my car when i got it and the rear shot shows how small my hole is *waits for the tiny font sizes mentioning my small hole*
  14. Thanks for the link! I think that guide has been put on the knowledge base so i may give that a go. Although to be fair i have prepared myself for a dash out job and my mate is willing to help so i might just do the longer job so i can do just what you said, clean everything up, de-rattle it and fit new control cables etc so my heater positions work correctly!! Makes sense really ... well i dont think i will be saying that when im half way through it at the weekend with wiring and loose screws everywhere!!
  15. I didnt realise so many people were running bypassed matrixes! Im normal again!
  16. Yeah a CF matrix swap meet sounds like a good idea, there's plenty of room on ym driveway for a couple more rados
  17. Yeah good idea about changing the control cables whilst in there, i just read Kevs How To in the knowledge base so i think it should be fairly straight forward once the dash is apart  Does anyone know the part number for the cable though?
  18. Cheers karl, still would rather get it done tbh mate so will order a new matrix today and get it done weekend. Not looking forward to it though as i have just had a look at the picture guide on the corrado club of canada website and it looks like more than 2 hours work!!! :(
  19. Yeah not much luck at all at the minute :( but i shall persavere and get it all sorted out! Well i looked at the price of a heater matrix on GSF and its not actually that expensive so it shouldnt hold back any of my other plans, i shall order one today and get it done over the weekend and then she's back to normal. Its in the garage at the minute getting the wheel bearings done so thats another problem sorted hopefully! And my goodridge hoses should also arrive in time to fit my brakes over the weekend as well so after that is just waiting for the charger :D
  20. Oh and my car is booked into the garage in the morning to get a wheel bearing done. Will it be ok to run with the matrix bypassed?
  21. Cheers Faye! Yeah i was lucky it happened when it did really, and lucky with the time of year as i dont need to use the heaters  still not good though as its going to be a hard job to do! Oh well, its more experience in the bag
  22. Yeah my thoughts exactly, i got a big roll of sticky back felt so i shall stick plenty of that on when i put it all back together!!
  23. Hmm i will give it a try mate. I just looked on the Knowledge Base and there is a rough guide, nothing with pictures though so i will try and take some pics as i do mine to show any difficult parts and what not. Yeah probably a good idea getting it done as i wouldnt want coolant all over beige carpets!
  24. ARRRGHH! My bloody heater matrix blew tonight. I was pretty lucky though as i went over to see my aunty and uncle and it happened just as i parked up at their house!! My uncle is a bit handy with cars so was able to help my bypass it, we were lucky as he had the perfect sized pipe to use which was an old shower curtain rail, he told me he kept it in case it came in handy  must of hada premanition (sp?) that his nephew would buy an old VW  Karl as usual was a legend being on the other end of text messaging telling me what i needed to do. So thats my weekend sorted out then, i will be fitting a new heater matrix, oh joy!!!
  25. Vibratechnic front engine mount mate, its metal as apposed to rubber so cuts out most engine movement without sending vibrations through the car, also makes an improvement to power delivery.
