  1. I fitted my VT front engine mount over the weekend, i got it ready for the charger initially but was eager to test it out asap so i got my hands dirty again and changed it which with my new found skills was piece of piss to do  At first my initial thoughts were not much difference but after driving it a few times on my usual roads including a bit spirited etc i can notice the difference. There doesnt seem to be that slack in power delivery anymore, and no judders or vibrations that would indicate the power is coming in, its just smooth power delivery which is nice. My gear change seems better as well, i have problems with 2nd mainly in mine, coming towards a roundabout for example and going for 2nd is usually a hard thing to do and always usually end up using 3rd instead, but i can get 2nd easier now so im glad about that, im still going to upgrade the gearbox mount as well though for the mk3 tdi one so that should hopefully make the gear change even nicer!! I also noticed with the mount that at higher speeds it seems a lot smoother, not so much in the ride (especially with the brocks on!) but the revs just seem smooth and when you put your foot down again no comotion or anything you just hear the engine sing and you are away. And last thing which is a bit of a bonus is my wheel wobble isnt as bad! I have crappy universal spacers up front at the mo to clear my calipers (im getting some hubcentric oens though!) so i get slight wheel wobble which is worse at high speeds, but it seems much better now, i suppose its because there is less vibration going through the drivetrain etc in the first place perhaps?? My mate could also tell the difference from just being passenger so it must be doing something  So i am quite pleased with it, i know i only really got it to stop the engine wanting to take off when i finally fit a supercharger but at the mo im happy with how its improved the car as standard.
  2. Nice one Neil. Has it made much difference to rubbing etc?
  3. Mines just under 140k now and its as smooth as hell, no rattling, doesnt miss a beat AND im going to slap a supercharger on it soon so will be pushing out almost another 100bhp so that will be a good test for it  Like said though for that amount of money now you should get one with moderate mileage and maybe even leather etc so just look around, drive a few and go from there. By driving a couple you will easily tell which is good and which is bad to drive!!
  4. Keskin KT1's are also awesome wheels and definately suit the corrado as well as the golf. Either choice is good really, but if i was to choose i think i would go with the keskins tbh.
  5. No worries. Told you they look good 8)
  6. Take a look HERE mate. I done a search and found a few results. I think they look great personally, although not as nice as B2's but then i am biased
  7. That's the stuff of dreams there Rob....... 789miles on one tank  . As you can see in the pic I didn't do too badly on that tank. Averaged 31mpg but I have been driving like a granny in a vain attempt not to break anything else! Yeah you havent done bad looking at that, still got some left as well. me on the other hand, i dont know how much fuel i have as my sender has packed up so i have to guess  i usually just work it out by what mpg i average lol, im on 28 mpg at the min and getting very close to empty i reckon so hopefully i get it to a petrol station in time
  8. Nice one  Just a shame you cant quite get 789 miles to a tank of fuel
  9. Yeah tbh i spank mine all the time ... i give the car a good thrash occassionally as well  sorry i'll get my coat :( Seriously though, i do thrape mine at every given opportunity and i only travel 10 miles to work and 10 miles back which like said is a bit of town, a few miles at 60 and then back through a village so i stop and start a little bit and only really drive it at a settled speed for a few mins and then i turn off and give it the beans again before entering the village where i work so i think getting 28mpg which i am at the min is pretty good. Although im sure thats all going to change when i supercharge it
  10. Let me know how you get one with this Neil as it may be an answer for mine. Nikki had hers machined down by about 3mm i think with no problems.
  11. I think its stupid really, i cant see how guys like us are going to be arrested for having a meet!! Well unless we go to car parks to smoke drugs (the guys from the last south mimms meet will understand me there ) Although i agree that the chavvy tossers should be punished as they are fcuking idiots!!! I used to tag along with a couple of mates (not boy racers as we were in a standard bmw diesel ) to an area where the chavs hang out, we only went because one of our mates likes one of the chavvy tits that hang around there  Its at a retail park car park, thay just park up in little groups with their stereos booming and just drive round the car park stupidly fast in their mega fast 1.1's and maybe even 1.6's  and do hand brake turns and wheel spins etc which is all mighty impressive of course, i would love to be able to shag my tyres out like that  Anyway we leave the car park perfectly sensible and my mate in his Peugeot 206 gets pulled over and is given a section 59, he wasnt speeding, he hasnt got a done up boy racers car or anything he was just seen leaving the area, they saw he was a young lad and he got done for it!!! FFS oh and he's also been done for driving too slow round that area as well
  12. Blimey you must drive like a vicar!! i wouldnt go getting the poor guys hopes up thinking he will easily manage over 30 mpg, i average between 25-28 mpg in mine and thats a bit of town driving followed by a bit of steady 60mph driving and the odd squirt (BIG squirts mind ). I only get over 30mpg if travelling a bit of a distance at constant (ish!) speeds. Do you reset your MFA a lot or do you let it work your average out for a whole tank? I leave mine to work the average out for a whole tanke from full to empty and i get the figures i mentioned above. Its quite nice to flick over to MFA setting 1 occassionally though just to see it saying high figures briefly
  13. Get one mate you wont regret it! Im 21 and got my VR last year with only very basic knowledge that i picked up from my old fiesta which is basically changing plugs and air filter etc, nothing technical anyway. Although i bought a good corrado and nothing bad has gone wrong yet (touch wood!!!) i wanted to renew most of the drivetrain parts to make the car nicer to drive. I got quotes of stupid amounts from garages so thought sod it and booked a week off work 2 weeks back now and with help of guides off this forum, the PDF version of the Bentley manual and the guys on here of course i managed to change all the front bushes (which included jacking engine up for wishbones, lowering sub frame for ARB bushes), ball joints and CV boots. As well as change the gearbox oil, adjust the gear linkages, and change the engine oil etc and i done it all myself and was very pleased with myself as i didnt think i could do it and certainly couldnt have without this forum! So you may be surprised at what you could do. As said though if you look around and get a good one you shouldnt really need any mechanical knowledge.
  14. Yup and Here's the proof.... "its a bit like keeping live tigers" Quality quote... Good read  bunch of tossers if you ask me!!!
  15. They are to keep it down and stop it flapping about i think.
  16. Im also in 2 minds about bonnet bras, my bonnet is bloody covered in stone chips as well as my front bumper and it really lets my car down as i have worked so hard bringing the paint up to a good standard but the front end just lets it down. So i think if i was to get the front resprayed in the future i would get one to protect it further. I also think that bras suit the low and wide corrados better, as they just have a menacing look! Like this:
  17. Think if you read his post again he says - it wasn't as quick as a 106!!! Well spotted  yeah i said its not as quick as its rivals the saxo and pug but still went fairly well and handled really well. They were way too slow really for what they were, if they had similar power output to the pug and saxo etc they would of been awesome cars. The new ones aint so good either!
  18. A Ford Fiesta Zetec-S (mk5) in imperial blue. Was a great car tbh, ok built quite cheaply but was a bloody good drive, it werent as quick as the rival Saxo VTS or Pug 106 GTI etc but handled like it was on rails (especially with powerflex bushes and strut braces etc), went fairly well and looked pretty good too. BUT i just had to own a corrado and it had to be a VR6 and so here i am today :D
  19. Nope didnt work on my car either, although to be fair i havent tried it again yet after installing drivers and what not. The alternator on the audi is fine as it was changed even though it wasnt the cause of the problem, and its definately charging as the drive to work gives it enough charge for it to start to drive home luckily, but its dead again the next morning. My dad was wonderng if it could be the glow plug being a diesel staying on, but we dont know where abouts its is to chec   plus i would of thought that would just burn out if left on all the time?? There's nothing else physically visible thats staying on to cause it to drain. Im thinkin it could be alarm/immobilizer side of things also as thats played up before??
  20. Its not my car im trying to sort out mate its my parents Audi A4 (B6) which has been playing up for quite a while now with the battery going flat all the time even though nothings being left on and the battery was replaced and even the alternator (by a dodgy garage who ran a diagnostics apparently and it said it was alternator but thats done sod all to it!) but still goes flat. It also has a warning light on all the time and the electric windows are being dodgy as well as the ESP not turning on or off so it seriously needs a scan! I have given up with it, i dunno why its not connecting i have downloaded all the right drivers (i think anyway!!) its the right verison of the software to do both my car and their car, i got the lead you told me to which should be the right one but its just not getting any response from the controllers! I downloaded the latest version to see if that done anything but that didnt even recognise the Interface so no hope there either.
  21. Yes mate i carried out the test to which it said OK and interface found etc so i saved and then carried out the test without the engine on but it still comes back with controller not responding! I will have another go later on and make sure i do it all properly, but im pretty sure i done it properly last time. Rob even though the engine should be off, the ignition still needs to be on mate, I assume it was though?[/quote:09317] Yeah it was mate i may be blonde but not THAT blonde
  22. Yes mate i carried out the test to which it said OK and interface found etc so i saved and then carried out the test without the engine on but it still comes back with controller not responding! I will have another go later on and make sure i do it all properly, but im pretty sure i done it properly last time.
  23. I gave mine a try the other night but i couldnt get it to work! I connected it all up and ran a test and it said everything was ok and the interface was found etc but when i try scanning any controllers its says that it cant communicate with any!! Is there anything i need to check? I looked at the FAQ's on the ross-tech site and checked the list and im sure its all good, i installed all the right drivers etc and there are no conflicts that i could see anyway so why wont it work???? Cheers.
  24. Your car is looking awesome Torsten!! Loving the choice of new rims! And in that last pic the rado just looks SOOOOO mean compared to the whimpy golf behind
