It is true that you need to leave some waxes to cure before removing and the longer you leave the better. Leaving it on 24 hours isn't really necessary, more like an hour to dry and then buff off but add a second layer 24 hours after to give better protection. However if you are pushed for time and cant apply another coat the next day then you can apply 2 coats of wax at the same time but in a way that allows just as good protection, and that is applying it in the 'Spit Shine' method. Here is what spit shining is: GUIDE Not sure if it will work with the step 3 wax as its a liquid wax and i think its more for paste waxes but worth knowing if you change wax.

Yeah a good clean surface helps a lot when polishing! Makes applying and removing it so much easier! I would imagine that it does help the wax bond better to the paint as well. I use sonus green clay when i do cars as its only mild so wont leave any scratches behind where as some more agressive clays can! I think the Megs quick clay is quite mild IIRC but not used it so cant really say.

Jon, considering thats not a very dark colour thats an impressive reflection! Claying will help the reflection slightly but mainly make the paint feel smooth as glass! Going to be doing mine ALL again soon, had a bit more practise with the polisher so going to spend a few days on it and get it 100% swirl free and make the flake POP!!

Thats because SRP is actually polishing your paint where as even though the step 2 says its a polish its actually a glaze, it has NO abrasives so wont cut any of the clear coat to bring up the finish, all it does it just adds oils to the paint giving it a bit more shine! Thats why you need to use the step 1 as that will do all the cutting thats essential to bring the paint back to life from fading etc. You could actually go step 1 - SRP and then add step 2 on top as a glaze followed by step 3 or whatever wax to protect.

Well it showed that you looked after it as it was pretty mint when i got it! Sorry not even going to THINK of selling it as i love it SO much  Its on nearly 140k now and still going strong, had it rolling roaded last year and for stock it was kicking out a healthy 203bhp and 196lb/ft so more than claimed figures which i was happy with. The drivetrain is starting to show its age however, im booking a week off work and am going to be replacing all bushes, bearing, ball joints etc to get driving a bit better. Then i will be slapping a supercharger on it so that will test just how strong the engine is  Where abouts are you from calvin?
-
Well i posted up my 'master plan' a little while back. My plan with the rado first is to supercharge it, i have the money now so just waiting for one to come up! Once its supercharged and i have done bushes/bearings/ball joints etc to get it driving nice i then intend on getting the rear end smoothed on it then most probably leave it and just save up to insure it for when i go back to uni. But the next part of the plan is to buy an old mk1 golf to use for uni, one thats a little tatty but a good runner. Use that whilst at uni and occassionally bring the C out for a play when funds for fuel allow! But when i have finished uni and am back earning degree wages i intend to bring the C back out as the daily and start restoring the mk1 to show condition, get it looking how i want and eventually drop the vr lump from the C into the golf and put a 24v or R32 engine into the C along with the supercharger bolted on. So then i will have a nice reliable but stupidly fast supercharged 24v corrado looking how i want it (with some additions along the way like leather recaros or TT seats and flared arches etc) and a mint condition mk1 golf vr6 show car 8) This is obviously just a dream though and in real life probably wont happen but the supercharged corrado and old mk1 is definately happening, the only thing that might not happen is the engine transplants!

Looks superb mate! Is it black or a cheeky way of shoing how moonlight blue can look black?

Looking good Andy, really like the idea of them cup holders after tim done his, but i couldnt move my headunit down as its a flip down front and would get in the way of the gear knob! Plus i will one day eventually put my audi vdo guages there
-
Does anyone know where the heat/glow plug thing is on audi diesel engines usually? We have been informed that it could be that staying on so if we actually knew what we were looking for we could check it out
-
No aftermarket stuff, 100% original being the folks car. Will give the bulb/battery test a go and see what happens, what am i actually lookin out for when doing it though and what does it mean?

Nice one mate 8) pics?

Jesus H Buddah thats awesome!! those guys have got to be thee most skilled in the world, the knowledge of work gone into it is just outstanding! Also love the little touches like recreating the original stickers!
-
Well there is Autoglym Vinyl and Rubber Care which could work for the majority of it. But if its not strong enough then perhaps a strong mix of all purpose cleaner might do the trick, brush on, leave for a bit, agitate with brush and then wipe away. If not then perhaps Jif might work, couldnt really say as not tried it!
