  1. Thats a good thing to know! Cheers for the help, think i will go with grooved as i want a bit of looks under the wheels, especially with the dark finish of the black diamond discs 8)
  2. Cheers for that Jon, was thinkin i should get braided hoses as well so will most probably get some Goodridge hoses. As for fluid, is it DOT 5.1 i need? Would want the best pads with less dust so im thinking i may sway more towards the greenstuff pads as these aren't too bad on dust are they? Cant have my blinging rims getting too dirty now can i
  3. Yeah i have heard that the old Green Stuffs were a bit ropey and had heard good things of the new ones! So its between the new greenstuff pads or the pagid ones. Do you reckon it matters which pattern i go for with the black diamonds ie just drilled or just grooved or both? I was going to get drilled AND grooved but if it only needs one or t'other then will save a tad bit of money lol.
  4. Nice one mate, might give them a try but think i will go for pagid pads!
  5. Hmmm :? i dont believe that part somehow
  6. Apparently new standard discs with Pagid Fast Road pads is a good option. I am also looking at aftermarket discs as im charging mine soon and cant go any bigger under my wheels so i need some good 280mm discs and pads. I was looking at Black Diamond discs and pads or with pagid pads, anyone have any experience with these at all??
  7. Hey Simon, good to hear from you mate! Im replacing them as they need doing really, all the bushes etc on the car are still the originals, so bound to be pretty naff after 12 years and nearly 140k!! Plus i am charging it soon so i want the car to drive as good as possible. Well i have booked the week of the 4th - 8th June off work to do this work, concentrating on wishbones, ball joints, ARB bushes and drop links, CV boot (as old ones split), possibly wheels bearings but might end up getting a garage to do these as im told you need special tools? These are all the parts i have ready to start with. Eventually i want to do rear axle bushes but im a bit scared to attempt these and will eventually get some mk4 rear calipers and brake lines etc and do these. I would appreciate any help you could give mate, but at the same time i dont want you to go out of your way! Rob.
  8. That looks awesome! Def one of my favs 8) my fav pic is the 5th one down, almost looks like its in motion!
  9. Dont suppose you done a guide on how to do the CV joints did you? Im doing a number of jobs on mine so if mine need doing i may as well do them whilst everything is off!
  10. Halfords does sell it but its not one kit as such, its 3 seperate bottles but they are technically a kit. They are the Meguiars Deep Crystal Step 1 Paint Cleaner, Step 2 Cleaner Polish and Step 3 Carnuba Wax. The Paint Cleaner is what will bring the fade back up, the step 2 polish (which isnt actually a polish its a glaze) will add essential oils back into the paint to keep it from fading so quickly and the step 3 wax will protect the finish, but its not ver durable so needs topping up every few weeks. Congrats on the purchase, 44mpg is bloody impressive from a vr, although did you buy it for that? when i got mine i drove it carefully trying to keep it above 30mpg but there's no point its a vr lol so now i average 26mpg :D
  11. I dont think they are all that, i have had the edge on a CTR before, same with a focus ST. The Civic has 197bhp mine has 203bhp and the civic only has 140lb/ft where as my vr has 196 and the corrados only slightly heavier really so i dont see how one could easily beat a vr really. I have even kept with a 350Z before and they are 280bhp! Although soon i wont have to worry about any of these cars and will be chasing M3's

    Flat paint

Take a look at these videos, they show you how to wet sand and machine polish: It might just machine polish up to a good finish though.
  14. Or just really baggy/saggy skin :pukeright:

    £41!!! Bargain!
  16. IIRC adapters are about 20-25mm aren't they? If so the offset will be 10-15. What width are the wheels? I have 9x16's with et15 on the rear for example and they catch like a bastard and stick out the arches a fair bit. EDIT: Just seen your post with width, 7" might be ok, but may need arches rolled.
  17. Im guessing he probably got them from america or germany etc, cant see them being easy to source in this country!!
  18. I reckon that i might have to check this out, i need to get my wheels balanced and have noticed that i can feel the drivetrain more lately. I am going to be replacing most parts soon anyway so this will be a good thing to check!!
  19. Love 'em 8) i agree with the OEM look, ok so they are OEM on a maybach but i dont think thats the OEM he's going for as they look like an OEM style wheel as apposed to a wheel anyone could get and stick on any car (like the famous 301's gorgeous wheels but done to death). Good choice imo and i would leave them as they are personally, polished wouldnt look right imo and would take an age to polish up and painted i dont think would do them any justice either. Is it going to need any arch work to have them sitting like that? Im guessing its going to atleast need the arches rolled? What width are they? Now clean your car its filthy!
  20. Are bearings hard to replace yourself? I need to do mine at some point, they were getting noisy when going round a right hand bend at speed so i packed them with grease which stopped it but its come back again now, plus im fitting charger soon so think i just need to replace them all. Is it fronts that are hard to do yourself and rears easy or other way round or all hard??
  21. Nice one Marcus! That looks brand new! You cant beat a 125 for a bloody good laugh imo :D i sold my zxr400 at the weekend, even though its been sat for over a year unused i was still sad to see it go :( ... well until i had the cash in my hand and realised i have more than enough now to charge my C :D

    removing waxoyl

Yep NEVER use fairy liquid on your cars paint, it sucks all the oils out of the paint making it fade like hell!! TFR or a strong mix of APC to remove any stubborn residue.

    removing waxoyl

Karl, waxoyl contains white spirit which acts as the 'carrier', it evaporates leaving the wax behind to bond to the metal so using white spirit will soften it up again and should then just wipe/wash away. Although not sure what its like on paint! If you have access to a steam cleaner and some strong TFR then that might do the trick!
