Nope checked that mate as that was one of the first things that came to mind!
-
Yeah i read that, some people are proper cnuts!
-
Cheers for that info kev, im sure it will come in handy. Not really fussed about tuning capabilites though, just want it to go for now. When i do eventually start to restore it i plan (note the word 'plan' lol) to drop my vr lump in it  and go 24v in mine for reliability. Or if not the vr lump then atleast GTI engine or something with a bit of poke. I dunno what i wanna do now though, as i said i wasnt really looking to buy one yet, was going to wait right up until i start uni before getting one but this cheapy shed came up so though for £150 just get it now and tinker with it over the summer, but now im thinking i might as well spend more and get a better one! But then that will put the supercharger on hold even longer plus i gotta save up to pay off my insurance in August!! Aaaargh
-
Yeah suppose that makes more sense  i will have a think about it.
-
How much do you think i could offer for the black one if i just took it as it is without all the spares as im not really bothered about dented panels etc i just want a runner?? Also on ED38
-
Yep im afraid i have the retro mk1 bug, just want a little mk1 rat slammed on its arse with some scabby wide wheels for uni and then when finished uni and back earning start restoring it as a show car over time! Not really after a GTI as stated, i will be looking at paying a lot more for the car alone and any cheap ones are going to be pretty cack tbh, plus insurance etc will be more. I dont care what engine it is as its just to get me about, the smaller more fuel efficient the better really! I will eventually drop the vr lump in it anyway
-
No worries kev. Yeah want a project car, use it as a rat car for uni then when finished uni bring the C back out as my daily and startt restoring the mk1 is the plan! Again as said before, i would love a GTI but would mean more insurance being quite young and more money altogether for the car which isnt what i after, i just want a cheap little engined shed of a mk1 that doesnt look too good body wise but has had some spent on it to keep running fairly reliable etc.
-
Oh sorry forgot to say the garage they took it to also changed the battery but still the same, so not the battery. It only happens occassionally, but getting more frequent.
-
No reply yet mate, i PM'd him asking him to email you but no joy.
-
I'd have to agree the mk2 is a superior car in almost every way, but the mk1 still holds alot of appeal for me purely for the retro looks, horses for courses I suppose! Yeah same here, no doubt i could easily walk down the road and find a cheap reliable mk2 infact my sister is selling a very good condition mk2 which she said i could have for a lot less than she's asking. BUT i want a mk1 as a restore project in the future and for the pure retroness (if there's such a word )
-
Yeah i see what you are saying kev, if i was just after a cheap car i would have no end of choice, but i love the little mk1's and so wanted to get one to use as a daily but mainly as a restore project for the future.

My folks audi a4 keeps going flat every now and then and is starting to become more current which is bloody annoying as i am the one who usually has to jump it in the mornings so my mum can get to work! There's nothing wrong with the car mechanically and its nothing simple like leaving lights on and have checked things like the boot light perhaps not going out or not shutting the door properly leaving the door lights on etc, there's nothing physically i can see that could be causing it! They had the car checked at a quite frankly W@NK garage who said it was the alternator so charged a stupid amount for new alternator but it didnt change anything! Its a diesel 2.5 TDI, so im thinking maybe the glow plug staying on? But wouldnt that just burn out if left on? Either that or a dodgy sensor or something somewhere. Any suggestions? Does anyone not too far away have VAG-COM to see if that returns anything? Cheers, Rob.

There's also THIS one which is cheap, done more miles but has better bodywork on it. Wants £300 ono so could get it cheaper no doubt. EDIT: Scrap that its sold anyway
-
To be fair though those seats dont look very supportive really, they look like proper bucket style seats but the supports look tiny! Or is it just me :?
-
But i thought it was a good thing to keep your nads cold?? Makes you more 'productive'  Loving the cup holders, really works well imo. I quite fancy it but its them or the 3 audi VDO guages which i will actually fit one day even though i have had them for bloody ages

Painting the rears red... An manifold polishing...
herisites replied to Campbell0240's topic in Exterior
Yeah the overlays are great, nice and easy to put on and look just as good as spraying but obviously a lot easier to remove if you sell or change your mind etc. Oh and my car is showing them off in PVW 8) -
Thats exactly what i want, but i want a mk1 golf! If this golf runs ok i dont care what it looks like for 150 notes! Just need to have a look at it and see!
-
First one maybe, not the second though, dont want a cab and its too much and too far etc. Gunna have to think about it i reckon because i want actually looking yet, just happened to see someone post the one for £150 on ed38 and though for that money i could easily store it and tinker with it until uni. But now thinking the black one would be much better but then that will put the charger on hold even longer which i dont want as im ready for that pretty soon!
-
Why there are loads of crap heaps out there, that don`t need the work. If you just want something to keep you mobile :!: Yeah but i want a mk1 golf that i can eventually restore after uni and bring the C back out as a daily. Its all planned out
-
Nah not interesting in a high spec one really as i want cheapy cheap cheap for uni hence a 1.1 or 1.3. The gti's are much more expensive, im just looking at something for a few hundred notes, and insurance/tax etc will be more.
-
Ok thanks Neil will check it out.
-
Yeah would go look at it for sure. Not toooo fussed about the MOT right away as like i said if i was to get it now i would store it in my dads lock up and gradually get it all good for MOT and ready for uni etc. I have until october after all so i could easily wait and get one closer to the time, but at that price im just thinking get it now and its done then, spend a bit here and there whilst i can afford it so it runs well and then MOT and insure it when im ready to start using it. vwdeviant, PM on its way mate.
-
Dont care about polishing it tbh, it will just be a daily runner and then when im finished uni i will start restoring it so no doubt will have new panels where needs and respray etc. Just thinking £150 for a 77k tidy ish mk1 isnt going to come around too often. If its not toooo far and you are more than willing by all means take a look at it mate :)
-
Oh and GTI interior as well must be worth more than the car alone in good nick surely?
-
As the title says am i being silly considering getting this now, declaring it off road and storing it gradually working on it until i go back to uni? Underneath all sounds like its been looked after and is a daily so its all running, low miles too but the body is just foobard, but as a daily crap heap to drive to and from uni im thinking its probs worth it? LINK Rob.
