I know two people with Audi 1.8T's one is an A3 ('99 and for sale btw ) and the other an A4 Avant ('99). My mate with the A3 drives it really carefully as he's tight and can average over 40mpg in it! My other mate on the other hand with the A4 avant has had it chipped and it goes like stink, not sure what MPG he gets but it wont be 40 i bet

My mate has an Alfa 145 thats been well looked after throughout its life and he's had no end of problems with it all at the same time. Nice looking cars and sound good but not very reliable!

mrsb never used to want to watch it, and now she does! Silly fast car reviews and a load of entertainment chucked in for good measure. I love it. It's popular for what it is not what it used to be. Yeah my mum never used to watch it but she watches it now purely for entertainment reasons. Granted she will make a cuppa or carry on with ironing etc when they are thrashing a car around the track but she likes the 'cocking' about parts. I just love it all, like has been said there are still car reviews but it also has the added entertainment! Plus there cant be cars out all the time to review, particularly cars we want to see tested, so in between time we get to enjoy them being idiots

I think i remember Kev saying once that the basic is what used to be the 'comfort' ones and the plus is a lot harder. Might be wrong though.

Well its starting to become qute a common thing with me now, detailing cars. My mate is selling his Audi A3 1.8T and asked me if i could clean it for him. Being the good friend i am i accepted his request and spent 5 hours today cleaning his car. The car was in a bad state when he came to me, he just drives the thing and rarely cleans it and when he does clean it he gets the hand washers at tesco to do it. So the paint had seen better days, it had quite a lot of swirls and was just generally dirty. Ideally the car would need a machine polish and i told him that but as i dont have one i made do with Megs Scratch-X, the Megs 3 step kit, AG SRP, and a whole lot of elbow grease  THE PROCESS: - Wheels cleaned first with AG Wheel Cleaner and rinsed. Then tyres were cleaned with AG Rubber Care and left to soak in some tyre foam (cheapy stuff is all i had sadly). - Then the car was soaked a LOT due to the amount of crap on it and finally washed with AG Shampoo and using a Megs Wash Mitt. Then dried using a m/f drying towel. - The next step was the cnut which was 2 layers of Scratch-X which was really stubborn on his bad paint, but alas we soldiered on and after 2 coats and VERY nackered arms it was starting to look nice :D - Then we applied the Megs Step 1 Paint Cleaner to prep the paint for a polish. - Gave it a polish with AG SRP and not Megs Step 2 as i prefer SRP. AFter this it was really starting to shine and looked fantastic in the garage with all the lights shining on it. - And then finished off the paint with Megs Step 3 Carnuaba Wax. - Finally done all exterior plastics with Megs Trim Detailer and cleaned glass inside and out. I was very pleased with the results and my mate was very very pleased with them! Although its still not perfect due to not using a machine polisher but to sell it certainly looks great enough. Just a couple of pics: I took some pics outside but it was quite dark so cant really see the finish but it still looks pretty shiny. And a good pic with my C in the background 8) All the pics can be found HERE Cheers, Rob.

The chainsaw bit made me almost piss myself  Loved the rocket, although was completely pointless and a waste of no doubt a LOT of money, but was funny so who cares

Looks sweet Neil 8)

 how can you say that! Actually to tell the truth i do really like them and it is much more comfortable to drive on them, although its scarier handling as the brocks were so planted where as these aren't so i feel a bit more vulnerable. I think when i get the wheels back i might keep them off for a bit as they are going to be MINT and i dont want to mess them up, and then just put them on for shows and meets etc. Plus i want to get some arch work done to it to stop them catching so might get this done then put them back on. See how i feel really when i get them back.
-
Well the wheels are slightly turned in the pics but yeah they are cambered. You can definately tell the inside is wearing more when i took my wheels off, but who cares :D Karl - When you see the brocks when they come back from their 'special' refurb you wont be saying that again
-
Currently wearing my standard speedlines 8) They look lost inside the arches compared to my brocks  BUT lastnight i went out and it was the most comfortable drive i have had for ages
-
Yes it was you that told me about it! I remember you saying it was doable but this guy seemed pretty sure it wasnt. Where did you get yours done mate? Did you get any wheels wobble or anything? This guy said that it weakens the wheels and makes them prone to crack from the inside.

Welcome to the forum! Get some pics up then :D

Looking good Karl, i will get a closer look when you come and help me fit my charger (when i get one :() the colour goes really well with the moonlight blue imo 8)
