  1. The engine speed sensor is a common fault, a pain to fit and an expensive part
  2. If the pulley seems wobbly, the face of the crank where the cam belt pulley bolts up to is damaged or has contamination from dirt or thread lock. If you run it like this, the pulley bolt WILL fail eventually and wreck the valves. You hold the crank still using VW tool 3099, which bolts to the pulley and has sliders that react against the sump. The face of the crank can be resurfaced in two ways. Remove the crank and have a machine shop reface it or reface it in situ with a special tool, which works 99
  3. I get your point about the wrap, but I never put form before function. I doubt your existing heat shield will fit but whether or not you wrap it is up to you. Not doing it has one advantage, fitting the wrap is a horrid job that makes me itch and irritates my throat for days after, even with wearing a mask. As to the differences between right and left hand drive, I don't know with the Raceland item but Supersprint headers are quite close to the column boot on a RHD.
  4. Aussie, the stainless manifold has a greater surface area and is thinner so it radiates much more heat. My biggest issue with SS manifolds is what matth mentions, their propensity for cracking.
  5. I was the importer for the last ten years before they dumped on me! Still a major dealer though-all is not lost.
  6. Demon Tweeks have a good selection http://www.demon-tweeks.com/products/Pr ... tlgrp=M009
  7. Yes, it goes in the cylinder next to the battery and the VR6 uses green mineral fluid, not ATF. If it’s low you have a leak and usually that’s the main pressure feed hose from pump to rack. Running it low can damage the pump and could catch you out, if the assistance failed all of a sudden.
  8. You need a Polo 6N inner ARB bush; it’s another example of ETKA being wrong on the Corrado VR6. Powerflex don’t make an ARB inner bush so if you need new, VW is the only source that’s reliable. We gave up on GSF as they came numbered correctly on the wrong part. The VW number is 6X0 411 313A.
  9. Do you want another short one?
  10. Raceland parts are good quality but you may find the manifold you have is specific to a left hand drive car. If you do get them to fit, wrap them in heat protective tape such as Thermo Tec and the bonding spray to prevent the headers burning everything in sight. You wouldn't believe the heat that comes up from behind the engine on a car with bare headers, unbearable. We have also had chronic problems with getting a lambda sensor to work on Supersprint headers as oxygen appears to get in up stream and gives the lambda a false level to test, sending the fuelling off the scale.

    ABS Pump

Dave, this is the VAG-COM print out for one I have just done, Address 03: ABS Brakes Controller: 1H0 907 379 E Component: ABS/EDS TEVES 04 2 Faults Found: 00290 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor; Rear Left (G46) 04-00 - Mechanical Malfunction 01276 - ABS Hydraulic Pump (V64) 16-00 - Signal Outside Specifications There was nothing wrong with the pump (even though it was rebuilt as a precaution), or the rear wheel speed sensors (still, we replaced all four) and it was all down to a rusty ECU. I had the ECU repaired and whilst it was away, replaced all the terminals in the plug with gold plated AMP items. We also had the windscreen pulled and I repaired the frame before the fitters came back and put in a new genuine screen and full seal/trim set. Supercharged, thanks for the welcome and if there is something specific as regards an article you think would be of help, just ask and it will be done.

    ABS Pump

The Corrado pump is the ATE Mk4 system and the Golf 3 used this system on the VR6 up to the 95-model year when it changed to the Mk20 system. The older versions of ETKA, up to 6.30, incorrectly list the RHD VR6 ABS pump as being non-EDL, which we all now is 80110
