My mirrors have never worked in the 18 months i've owned my car but has never really bothered me that much, but i got hold of a cheapish mirror switch & have just popped it in, now when you try to alter them to the left (on both mirrors) thats fine, but up, down & right all it does is click & nothing moves??? :( Any ideas??? Ta Andy P.S I have a late vr 8)

What a nightmare situation....the main thing is that nobody was seriously hurt though, but after the dust settles you'll be absolutely gutted about your car :( Feel for you mate. Andy -
If you got rid of your C what modern car would you have?
toon vw replied to Jay2's topic in General Car Chat
Well if you're talking similar money to my vr, then probably something like a bora 4motion but if i was to borrow a bit extra & have monthly payments instead of monthly repair bills then probably something like an S4.....but to be honest unless your talking mega bucks i can't really think of anything i'd rather drive everyday Andy -
Strange Request this one................White C Required

Can't help you at all mate, but i just wanted to say that i reckon that would be absolutely fantastic & definately something you would'nt see everyday, get the ribbons slapped on & your away :thumbleft: Our lass wanted to hire a white topless morris minor !!!, fortunately i persauded her to go for the more traditional Roller, still reckon a rado would have been cooler.....maybe next time eh :ignore: Andy -
My advice is avoid, eveything I've ever driven with spax has been horrid! Go for weitec Ultra GT's with a 40mm drop. Got them on the Valver and can't speak their praises highly enough. good cheap setup that doesn't comprise the ride, got to be a winner! Yep i think i'm gonna have a proper look for something a bit better, i like the sound of those Koni STR.T's that Jim had mentioned with them being specially developed for the corrado....if they're not too pricey it might be worth a trip down & get them sorted on the day. Just a little update.....been to the garage this morning after dropping it off yesterday & they've managed to get the busted matrix out without taking the dash off, just some of the lower parts & the passenger seat!! He reckons about £200 inc the matrix for the job....& he's even lent me a 1 litre punto to get me around in the mean time :D So not as bad as it could have been i think, now roll on my new suspension 8) Andy

To be honest, you ain't gonna get many people on this 'corrado' forum voting for a mk2 although they are mighty fine beasts in their own right ( i've had 2)i own a vr now & as someone else said they are a good couple of leagues ahead imo. & in terms of maintenence they would be very similar aswell. No contest really  Andy

Ha Ha why the hell not, me backs shot anyway so i might aswell completely knack me knees up aswell.....don't you just love gettin older

Is Jimmi still knocking around on the forum, just have'nt seen any posts off him for a while?? Well at least thats given me a little bit of hope, a bit of shopping around may well be on the cards as a bill of around £700 which djmac56 mentioned i might cost would be most unwelcome to say the least !!!! your garage was'nt anywhere near Newcastle was it ????

I've been planning on lowering mine 40mm front & rear but after reading this thread, am i right in thinking that standard ride height shoud be around 67cm from ground to highest part of the wheel arch....if thats the case i'be just measured mine as 65.5cm rear & 62.5cm front, could mine be lowered already???? I always presumed mine was standard, what you reckon.... Cheers Andy

Just the right time of year for this to go then :?

I've just been out to do the taste test (being careful to spit not swallow :D ) and to be honest i can only taste water although then again i don't know how much antifreeze was in it ? I have it booked in on thurs for a full winter service which would have sorted all that out anyway, but looks like it might need something else doing instead now.....oh the joys of corrado ownership :(
-
I've just checked & my coolant level is right down......this can't be a good thing right?? :( By the way....what exactly is a heater matrix? Cheers Andy
-
Yep the drivers footwell is wet this morning....please please don't say its the matrix!!!
-
Over the last 2 or 3 days when i start driving the car it starts to steam up the windows no matter what way i have the heater controls, tonight i've just drove my car home from work after having left it about 7 ish hours the inside of the windows were absolutely soaked & i mean all of them, drove about 10 miles home & they were as wet as when i first started....could it be window seal gone or something?? just seems very strange to happen all of a sudden & the heater seems to be working fine. Anyone got a clue.....??? Cheers Andy

Yeah mate i WAS going to get rid....but when it came down to it & i actually had someone intereted in taking it off my hands, i just could'nt do it!! I honestly could'nt think of anything that could compare for sheer driving pleasure (without spending sill money) & just plain & simple good looks, so its staying!! I have decided to spend a bit of my hard earned on it over the next month or so, i know its great timing as alot are putting them away for the winter, but i'm afraid i don't have that luxury (unlike some  ) I am looking at dropping it 40mm & on the lookout for some nice alloys either 16 or 17's & then looking at getting a bit of bodywork & paint in the spring hopefully. Anyway you'll see me posting a bit from now on now that i've realised i've got that 'rado' bug a bit more than i thought i had. Cheers Andy

Hi Michael, Just been browsing through your full gallery (as you do) & just wanted to say that you are doing an absolutely cracking job of it & its gotta be the best STORM anywhere these days, i know how much work must be involved & its a credit to you mate, just wish i could get mine looking 1/10th as good as yours!!! Keep smiling :D Cheers Andy

I've decided to get my car lowered 40mm to avoid the classic 4x4 look, the garage i normally use has recommended Spax shock/springs which come in at about £150ish + fitting, now i'm not after anything radical so don't need coilies or owt so these seem a pretty good bet to me, so if anyone has had any experiences of these then it would be great to hear. Cheers Andy

Hi, Sorry have'nt read the full thread but i wondered if anyone had had any experiences of 'Spax' lowered 40mm shock/springs, i have just booked the car into the garage & they have recommended these & priced them up at about £150 + fitting, it seems pretty good to me as i don't need anything 'extreme' for what is mainly just for cosmetics to get rid of the '4x4 look' :D The only other kit that seem comparible pricewise would be the FK's which i know are well thought of on here. Anyway any comments would be great. Cheers Andy

Hi Michael, Yeah i think the time has come mate :( , i have had so much fun in my ' vr ' though i will genuinely be sorry to see it go, if i was minted i would be keeping it aswell no doubt about it!! Anyway i'll still keeping an eye on the whole corrado ' thang ' especially the beauties such as a certain green storm we both know
-
I mean as in the whole kit'n'kaboodle....a 2000 ' x ' reg, 82000 miles, fvwsh, just a few hundred quid more than i'm getting for my 'vr', i'm not expecting the same raw blistering performance :( but i'm hopefully gonna get a more refined, squeak free generally more modern kinda performance ' dub ' :D
-
Any thoughts or experiences with regards to the '4mo'....i may just be about to do a deal
-
I thought LC5U was' aqua pearl blue ', bit of both from the 2 mentioned.....not that i want to confuse matters of course

Was following an ' 06 ' reg Astra VXR the other day coming home from work, was turning right around a large 2 lane roundabout then onto the outside lane onto a clear dual carriageway, going about 30ish around the ' bout ', knew he was going to boot once on the straight so was covering him in second gear (just for the hell of it :D ) then he floored it so obviously i followed & to my suprise i just about stayed level upto 100 at which point we were approaching traffic & eased off, I honestly thought he would have blew me away from what i've heard about them especially on the straight.....ah yes i remember why i love my ' vr ' so much now..... Anyone else any experiences with these?
