I reckon t'other way rounds the way to go. Wouldn't fancy a tube full of cack to clean out of the sunroof surround, plus shoving sh*t uphill has always revolted me...
-
Yeah the seal isn't really a seal as such, more of a surround. The 4 drain holes need cleaning out by the sound of it, try using a cycle brake cable...
-
They all do that mate, it should stop flashing when you start the engine. Does yours?

The tanks differ in size, my late VR has a 15 gallon, but earlier tanks were 12 gallon, not sure when the cutover was though... 92 at a guess, when the facelifted models started rolling out.

Just got off the phone to her insurers, they gave me the choice of finding my own repair firm, or going with theirs, so my main dealer have faxed her insurers the quote i had done earlier, and i will hopefully hear back from them tomorrow, with a date for the C to go in for repair. Well relieved! :D Her insurers are supplying me with a hire car for the duration too! Cheers for your advices and inputs chaps! :salute:

Which is just what I don't want as they'll do the job as cheaply as possible, and not to the standard the dealer would have (pattern wing, or even not swap the wing). Pain in the arse!
-
Thats terrible, its their trade you would think they would know :? Exactly what I thought! She had all the ability and charisma of a snail, so didn't expect much...
-
Hope so, still awaiting a call from their insurers... Can anyone else confirm, I have reported the accident to my insurers, and they weren't able to advise me either way... :?

So just had another call from the womans hubby, he's now insistent on going through his insurers, and has told me that his insurers will be in touch with me to let me know where it will be going for repair, and when. Now, I'm not happy with them taking it to their "preferred repairers" so am I within my rights to demand it goes to my main dealers, where I have been quoted for repairs already?? My local main dealer has quoted: £155 for paint £348 for labour £109.55 for the wing plus any other parts (sealant, bolts etc) Looking at around £630 - £650 all in I reckon, and the dealer has assured me he will paint the full front bumper (bonus), the new wing (obviously) and blend in to the passenger door. Having never been down this road before, I'm unsure if I am obliged to stand my ground with his insurers? Or do I have no say at all in where it goes to for repair?? Cheers chaps

Spoke to VW this morning Yan, he looked up a late front wing and quoted £109.55 inc VAT?? I asked him to check again as I thought they were more expensive but he seemed positive??? Anyway, been for a quote at a local repairers, (recommended to me by my VW specialist) the bodyshop guy reckons he should be able to pull out the dent and the curve around the headlamp easily enough with a slide hammer welded to it, which would mean minimal filler used, paint the wing and full bumper, and sort a couple of car park dings (paintless dent removal) on the sides for around £400 cash. If we take it through the insurers he can repair ONLY the damage thats been done, so I wouldn't even get the bumper painted fully. Really want the other bits doing whilst it's there, so I reckon i'm gonna go the cash route... Spoke to the guy who's wife hit me, he seems happy enough with that sort of price to settle without going through his insurers. So I suppose it's a case of wait and see, fingers crossed.

Brilliant race, Button has really laid down the gauntlet to Hamilton. Was brilliant to see such close racing, even if the weather did have a lot to do with it. Buttons decision to come in for slicks was inspired. I did feel a little sorry for Lewis though, Webber to me seems a little too "enthusiastic" a lot of the time, and it cost Lewis dearly. Roll on next Sunday!!
-
I reckon with the cost of repair from a dealer, he'll be claiming. Can't see it being too affordable from VW!!
-
I'll be heading to the VW dealers after the first quote then. When the hubby rang he assured me that either way it'd be paid for fully, if it's a cheap (£4-500) repair then he'll settle cash, if not they'll claim, which he isn't fussed about either as he has protected no claims cover. Dealers it is then by the sound of it.

Getting a quote tomorrow morning, so we'll see. Fingers crossed... Her hubby has now called, it turns out he's a guy our family have known for years (small world) so i know he's honest at least. I'm meeting him tomorrow after the quote to discuss how he's going to pay. All good so far... Kip, are new wings available from VW still then?
-
The woman just called me apologising again, said her hubby had gone mad and that she felt really guilty, says she will be awaiting my call tomorrow with quote prices, so it's sounding promising so far...

Go for something original, that no-one has seen, but keep it subtle/understated. IMO a "balls out bright" spray job on a C just does the car no justice. As for colour choice, I assume you can go for whatever you like, are you a sprayer by trade? Saw a really dark grey metallic on an A3 earlier which would really suit the C, greys and silvers look great with the right wheel/wheel colour.

Very impressive Yan, wish I had half those skills! 8) :notworthy: -
Gutted! Came out of the shop to find I'd just been reversed into by a very kind lady in a BMW X3. :censored: She's admitted liability, and will probably pay for damage without going through her insurance. Where she's hit me is right at the very front of the passenger wing, and the impact has flattened the curve where the wing follows the line of the headlamp. Do you guys reckon the bodyshop will be able to pull this out or will it be a replacement wing, does anyone have a late Aqua Blue passenger wing if it does turn out to be the case? Its also scratched and scored the side of the bumper under the wing, so that'll need paint too. The photo is not great, the light was fading by that point, but see what you think. The silver lining is that the wing needed paint anyway due to bubbling around the side repeater, and the front bumper needed paint too, so i suppose this will pay for that at the very least. The ironic part is that the damage to her rear quarter is right underneath her REVERSING SENSOR!! The dimwit! Cheers, Matt.

Good to see you've finally got it Dave, I was in Macc getting new tyres yesterday and passed a dark debadged front VR. Reckon it was probably you? Was near the Tesco's on the Leek Rd? Either way, looked good!
-
I tried (for what was probably an inordinate amount of time) to get a sharper shot, but the C was hooning around the corner and only actually visible on film for about a second. Sure it wasn't you Kev!?

Spotted while watching "Shifty", a BBC flick...

You'll need smelling salts too. Robbing barstewards! :mad2:

Filled the VR this morning, as heading up North this weekend, Tesco99 ron.... 122.9 ppl!!! I nearly fell over. £68 :(

Bloody hell, that must have been torture, just watching her burn! :( Glad you got out unharmed though chap, that's the main thing. Good luck with the insurers. Add yourself a few G to the payout, and land yourself a certain red VRT for sale at the moment. Now that would be a silver lining! 8)
