Terrible luck mate! Hope it all sorts out easily...

Cheers pal, a couple of small (and hopefully) paintless dent removals on the drivers door, and she'll be mint again. The last couple of years has taken its toll... Just read the whole thread....... I've just bought my VR6, and am picking it up this Saturday. Did you end up doing any suspensions mod to your Aqua Blue at the end? If so I'd be interested to know what did you do at the end. I'd like a good mix of ride/handling balance, with minimal drop (30-35mm?) of ride height. I really don't want a car that's too hard and crashy, after all the VR6 is supposed to be an all-rounder. Any other mods (brakes etc)? Cheers! Not really had the money spare to go for any decent suspension upgrade since i bought her, but the KW Variant 1 (INOX body) get such good reviews on here at the moment, I'm glad I waited, thats definitely what i'll be investing in later this year. Ride comfort, and longevity (guaranteed stainless construction) are apparently second to none. Prices around £630 plus fitting... Other mods... 288mm front brakes (mine are being refurbed currently before fitting), and later on, and I suppose less urgently, MK4 Golf rear calipers (supposedly less prone to seizing). 2 of the most beneficial (and cheapest) upgrades I have done are the uprated headlight loom (KUR2Y on here sells the best quality ones, VERY simple fitting) and Lupo wiper conversion (bits available direct from VW, or a used set on here if you drop lucky). Without those two, you won't be able to see in the dark, or the rain, or the dark and rain. :D Non essential; a decent amp, audioscape pods, decent components, decent headunit. 8)

So coming this summer (EBITDA bonus dependant)... Front end running gear overhaul (strip, media blast, powdercoat) Subframe, wishbones, ARB, Steering Rack, all new VAG bushes. Engine and gearbox mounts, top mounts all round. KW Variant 1's, rear ARB Rear end running gear overhaul (same as above), all new VAG bushes, plus MK4 rear calipers, hoses etc. DIY in the meantime, engine bay needs a serious clean, gonna attack this over a couple of days in the next few weeks, weather dependant (wish i had a garage) and fit refurbed 288mm fronts from 2008 Ibiza. Looking forward to getting stuck in, hopefully have the DIY parts done in time for BVF, and the rest done not long after at DG... 8)

Got her back this afternoon and gotta say I'm well pleased. The guy who carried out the quote has basically given me a complete passenger side respray, new front wing fitted, obviously bumper removed to do that, full bumper sand and spray, the car looks new! I'm amazed... Only got a few pics on my phone tonight after i picked her back up, but wow!!

Jim. Get out. -
I removed mine from my old valver, then decided to put them back on a couple of weeks later, they went back on no probs. As long as you're patient and careful taking them off, the shouldn't bend out of shape and look shite. Use gentle (very gentle) heat to remove them, and thin double sided foam tape to re-attach AFAIK these are obselete from the dealers now, and cost an arm and a leg...

Looks very nice mate, what wheels are they? Suit it very well, not sure on the TT kneebars, ok if your shorter than my ridiculous 6'7" though I suppose What you used to fix your front plate with?
-
Shit mate that's a harsh welcome. Hope you manage to sort it, what damage did they do?

Sodding hell! :( Not good news, as said, MOT fail, and no new part available to fix it would leave you properly high and dry. Good luck with ATE Vince, i'm in for a GB... -
 HIC have knocked £150 off my renewal price this year, was £560 with 2 yrs NCB last year, renewal cam up end of Feb, I did some hunting on the comparison sites, as I was expecting the same price this year,if not more expensive, but when the renewal price came through from HIC it beat all of the insurers on Confused anyway, by about £20! This year £410, fully comp, agreed valuation, all the trimmings... Guess I was one of the lucky ones??

Looks tidy enough mate, i'd lose the blacked out Gangsta glass though if it were mine. The rims are BBS RZ, standard on the G60. Nice. 8)

 Crikey, it's a good job you uncovered that before it ate the entire pillar!! Seeing bodged screen replacements like that is whats stopping me from "accidently" putting a hammer through my screen and getting it replaced. Really want it doing too as have a couple of stone chips which are still very noticeable even after being gel filled. :( Liking what you've done with the carpets, didn't know it was possible to cut and shape your own. Weren't you tempted to do it in Shagpile?

Looks very nice mate, inspiration for me to get polishing! The 3rd pic down in the last set is a contender for a calender pic (if another one ever gets done hehe)

Just had a good read through, some good work you've put in there, bet you're chuffed to get it running finally!

Sourced these over the past couple of weeks from a couple of Forum members, ready to fit once I get her back from paint... 8) Should finish the front end off nicely.

Cool, thanks for the update. -
Cheers for the replies folks, i'll send it in for the fronts to be done, as these have to be pulled out and pressed in anyway, whicj i'm unable to do. I'll get my mechanic to check the CV's at the same time, as you say, might as well while its on the lift. The rears I'll take a look at as i'm planning on replacing the rears with MK4's at some point, but if they're not making a noise i'll probably leave them alone until later this year. Again, thanks for the inputs! :D Matt.

Cheers Kev, shall get ordering. Would it be worth doing both front sides while i'm at it or are these a a part that only fail rarely? Thanks again, Matt.

Someone mentioned it could be the tyres, had new Kuhmo KU31's recently, but the noise wasn't there immediately after they were fitted, about 3-400 miles after i'd say (the KU31's also have a pretty good rep on here, no-one else has mentioned excessive noise from them). Also if it was the tyres, the noise wouldn't disappear turning left and get louder turning right i wouldn't think...

My VR has recently started making a rumbling noise noticeable from about 10mph all the way up to motorway speed, and all the way back to standstill again. When i turn a sweeping left bend, the noise reduces drastically, almost to the point where it cannot be heard. In a straight line, the noise is always there, and round a sweeping right bend the noise is louder. I'm thinking wheel bearing (obvious choice) but have jacked both front corners and felt for play top to bottom on the wheels and felt none. Worth mentioning that the noise remains when i dip the clutch and coast along. Would i be right in thinking bearings (if so which side) or could it be more serious? It's gotten to the point where i'm worried about going above 40ish, as the noise just gets louder, and higher in pitch/tone (if that makes sense). I've had a good look through the search, and found a few old topics covering this, but changing the wheel bearing didn't sort out the problem. Thanks in advance gents.

i mean, does anyone know what the most and what the least colors produce or registered are? i know that they production per model are available but i dont know if this is also available for which colors...its just out of interest - nothing too technical... maybe we can ran a poll on this forum...this should give us a good idea... There was a poll on here a good while back, have a search through, it should still be about.

How do you mean "what colour split"? Not quite following you. Edit: just re read your post, not a clue mate. Yours is a fairly rare colour though.
