1993 SLC: Custom Dashwork & Fabrication_Step-by-Step

Once again, amazing! You must have plenty of spare time! Love the Alu push pull knobs, very nice indeed! -
As above really, just done the resistor repair on the blower motor, now works on all speeds. Ensured the heater blower is seated correctly (had it out again and rechecked) When driving, there is plenty of air from the screen vents, but when stationary you can barely feel a draught :mad2: This surely isn't normal? Any ideas anyone? Thanks in advance! :D

Fantastic work mate! The finish looks superb, love the leather trimming to match the doorcards. :salute: :notworthy:

Looks excellent. Is that the invisible man in your car in the last few photos? :D You can just see his shoes if you look closely... -
Bloody hell, I'm close to speechless looking at that, hats off to you sir! :notworthy:
-
Unsure mate, out of interest though, how much did you shell out for the 2? From the stealers?

You can buy the OE plugs direct from VW, if you do a search, the part numbers are actually listed somewhere on the forum - erm, part number 357 941 165, see this post. You need two plugs plus four repair wires which are double ended with the correct connector on each one. You also need the plugs to seal the wire entry points, but I ended up using a silicone sealant instead, which seems to work fine. The only really problematic bits are creating a plug to take the signal from the original loom if you insist on not cutting into your factory loom and protecting the relays. My solution was to solder the new loom in and what I'm going to do is mount the relays inside a sealed food box using grommets and sealant to stop water getting in. I suggested to Andy a while ago that rather than him trying to satisfy and insatiable thirst for looms, it might be a better idea to put together a detailed, illustrated 'how to' post, kind of 'uprated wiring looms for dummies' and I offered to co-operate with him on that. I'd still do that. I'd do it myself, but I'd rather get the technical construction of the loom spot on. I don't really want to produce a 'how to' on something that's safety critical like lights without knowing that it's 100 per-cent right, though maybe I'm being over-cautious :? Agreed, if the plugs are available from VW then it's a simple enough job, presumably the repair wires you mentioned are to allow you to splice into the existing loom?

Could he not just maybe sell us the kits in peices, they're not gonna be rocket science to assemble/test. The only part that we don't know where to source from is the OEM plugs for the lamps themselves, the rest can be sourced easily...

Know how you feel mate, exactly the same happened to mine on NYE last year. W*****s! They make my blood boil! Good luck sorting it!

Well if she really insists on you going out on a £20 worth mini blast in her Beetle then who are you to argue. No arguments from me! Love thrashing the bug about (1.8T), they handle well on 225/40/18... :D And beats the shit outta using the train for the day...
-
I've used the Mrs's Bug today as mine's getting new rear pads, only a 30 mile round trip, but she's insisted I put £20 fuel in! Now thats expensive...
-
I'd change the fuse then, or just check how it's seated, if the left front sidelight's affected too, then sounds like a fuse issue...
-
I jus want to say hello and be new member :)

Hello and welcome! -
Fuse number 8 is for tail and side light left side, check your sidelights at the front (one click on the switch). If your left sidelight is out too, then its fuse number 8 (10amp btw). HTH

I loved my old red valver, do miss it to be fair, still the aqua blue takes less to look after... (yeah lazy i know!) Here's my old one... Proper shabby in comparison to some of the one's above... Still she served her purpose....
-
They're certainly Aero wipers, have they got VAG markings on them? Could be aftermarket ones?
-
Looks very nice! Previous owner kindly left Lupo wipers on for you! Bonus! :D

Mine used to suffer this, cured it by fixing the rad fan after-run. Without the after-run to cool the bay when you've switched the engine off, the heat from the lump would evaporate the fuel in the lines and make it really reluctant to start. Might be a good (cheap) place to start to try and fix it. I ended up changing the fuel pressure accumulator, both fuel pumps, and the fuel filter before i found the after-run was shagged! Did run sweet afterwards though! Is it a KR 16v? If so the sensor for the after-run is on the left hand side of the head as you look at the engine. Sure davidwort (16v knowledge font) will be along soon lol :D Good luck....

Hi mate, it could be a number of things. I presume the cars facing uphill? It'll be either: -Foiliage cover seal on blower motor intake perished (found underneath the Pass side scuttle). There a guide in the Knowledge Base for sorting this. Cheap fix. -Sunroof drain holes (4 of them which lead from the corners of the sunroof recess to the wheel arches for rainwater drainage). -Plastic membrane behind the door cards missing/torn -Perished missing gromet where the accelerator cable goes through the bulkhead into the engine bay. Theres loads of threads on this if you have a search, but theres just a few to keep you busy.(My old valver suffered all of the above at some point  ) Happy hunting!

Hiding place for front component crossovers!!!
mattnorgrove replied to STUMACG60's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
Two screws, pull it towards you from the top and unclip the wiring. Its a bit easier if you take out the headlight switch/air vent too. Piece of pish, just don't drop the screws when putting it back it in! Cheers dude, another job for the weekend then. 8) -
Have found a Corrado Storm, pictures added 13/03/08

If it is going for truly silly money then go for it! The interior alone as said before would be worth 5-600 depending on condition. Lets see some pics of it.... :D
