Good stuff. My MOT cost me £300 a few weeks back.... :(
-
Nope, still waiting too... :(

Sorry, Idle Stabilisation Valve. They can pack in or get clogged up meaning that when stationary, the revs aren't held & the engine cuts out. Not sure that it is that, but hopefully one of the more knowledgable guys could help?

Audi S3 or SEAT Ibiza Cupra ? Discuss.....
Dogzyboy replied to BigTartanJudge's topic in General Car Chat
I personally wouldn't choose an Audi over a Seat just for the badge, my decision was merely based on the fact it was an Ibiza Vs S3. Were it the Leon Cupra R Vs the S3, my decision would be much much harder. I guess I'd probably have to drive them both in a spirited manner to make a decision between those two! :) -

My thoughts exactly. :) -
I wouldn't mind one of these if they are still available? It's got to be a much better solution to the piece of string I currently have holding the plastic in place!! :) Drop me a PM if you have any left? Cheers. Doug edit: I'll require the whole kit if possible? Cheers.

Nice one, cheers. :) I'm always a sucker for free stuff!!

Any VR owners felt the need to get a 2nd car?
Dogzyboy replied to Veearrhsix's topic in General Car Chat
I've nearly caved & bought a daily a few times now as I want to keep the raddo for "best"! Everytime I get close to buying one though I get some unexpected expense (to be fair, this one was my fault as I'm getting hitched now!). I'm desperate to keep the miles off the Raddo, but at the moment, I just can't justify the expense of another car, especially as the impending wedding & honeymoon have eaten up my daily drive funds :? -

Stealth & yes. :) -
Great news :) Glad it's all finally sorted. I know how relieved I was to finally have the bonnet opening again too!

I love 'em. One of those are defo on the "When I win the lottery" list!! Mucho jealousy from me...

When you bought a new cable did you get the metal clip that holds the outer cable rigid to the inside of the car while you pull the inner one? (if that makes sense lol) As this has broke on mine and when i went to vw to buy one i was told they were discontinued, i didnt want to pay 25 quid for a new cable to find that the clip didnt come with it :confused4: DANG60, Yeah, the metal clip comes with the cable. I didn't actually need it so should have the new one knocking around? Drop me a PM & I'll see if I can find it for ya. Bally. If you can take your grill out with the bonnet shut then you can get to the release spring behind the headlight. I used a strong, long piece of metal to hook the spring. You'll probably need to stick a light underneath the car to shine upwards. Drop me a PM if you want some more specific advice on this & I'll see if I can get you some pics.

Must be the season for it, mine just went the other week too. Took me a couple of hours t get the damn thing open & the new cable fitted, but allis well now. The advice on this post helped my situation best: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=46681&p=548133&hilit=bonnet+stuck+closed#p548133 Good luck. :)

You've gotta have a Corrado buying/selling addiction! 10 Corrados, that some going. I wonder if you've previously owned mine.... :)

Do you get a warm feeling inside............

Yip indeedy! :) The last 2 I've spotted have been when I'm in the missus' 306. Waving like a loon doesn't seem to attract the same attention when I'm not in the raddo! :? -
Fitted the bonnet release cable which was fun! Spent an hour underneath the car trying to get the O/S bonnet catch to release. Got there in the end though. :) As is typical with my Corrado (or is it just my DIY skills) I broke something else. Tried to clean up the Oil Temp Sender & snapped the wire as it was practically hanging off anyway. Off to the stealers next week for a new plug connector as it's goosed. :censored: rear wheel bearing is on it's way out again. I knew I should have got the job done properly last time!

Need a Daily Driver - Golf MkIV or Leon Mk1?
Dogzyboy replied to Dogzyboy's topic in General Car Chat
Hmmmn. Thanks for all the replies guys, some great advice there. I guess I'm just after something that doesn't feel awful (and slow) after driving the raddo each time, and as I'll be spending about 2 hours a day in the thing I want it to be a nice cockpit too. I think the Golf has a slightly nicer interior, but I guess I'll have to take both the 150bhp Golf & Leons out for a spin & see which I like the feel of best, only ever driven the 1.8T golf which I quite liked. Problem with the Anniversary Golf is that I can see myself not wanting to put miles on it either!! :) The whole point of a new car is so that it can take all the mileage instead of the Raddo. -

Yeah, I've noticed that you get something a couple of years younger for the same money which is tempting. As much as I'm shooting myself in the foot by not considering one, I just don't think I can bring myself to. Stupid I know, as it's only a badge. -

Diesel is More than V Power these days!?! I have to admit to not actually reading the prices too often these days. The last time I looked the prices were the same, bleedin schiesters. I do about 150 miles a week at the moment, but end up putting a lot of "weekend miles" on the missus car at the moment, including trips all over the country. I end up filling the Raddo twice a month at £60ish a time & figured I could just about half that cost with a diesel by getting around 550 miles to a tank, rather than to 300 I get in the Raddo. Any ideas what petrol car would end up costing similar? A 1.8T VAG engined car (Golf/Leon) would surely only return low 30s? -
The missus' diesel 306 is the only other car I drive. Occasionaly trips in the "peasant wagon" too!

Need a Daily Driver - Golf MkIV or Leon Mk1?
Dogzyboy replied to Dogzyboy's topic in General Car Chat
 Cheers Walesy. I like the MK4 also, but believe the Leon is a better drive? -
Any chance of a Poll please Mods? :) Looking to get a daily driver as my Raddo isn't enjoying being using daily, nor is my bank balance with the repair costs!! With a bit of luck, I'll be able to get half of what I need as an interest free loan from my folks to add to the money I have put aside. Due to the cost of Petrol these days (V Power especially) I'm going for a diesel, but it's got to be fairly quick & has last a good few years. The current options are: 1) Leon Tdi FR 150 - Seen an 04 Plate with 60k miles for £8kish. 2) Mk4 Golf Tdi 150 Anniversary - Seen a 52 Plate with 74k miles for £8ish. 3) MK4 Golf GT Tdi 130 / 150 - Can get an 03 Plate for around £7k with about 70k miles. 4) MK4 Golf Tdi 110/130 - Seen 2000 Platers with 110k + miles for around £4k - £5k. So, what would you go for out of these? Or is there something else you'd choose instead? Personally I really fancy the Anniversary (but I'm a sucker for Special Editions!) or the Leon FR. Any comments greatly appreciated.. Cheers, Doug :)

Another vote for the BMC CDA here. Fitted mine about 6 months back & love it :D Not too good for the fuel economy though as you have to keep booting it to hear the addictive roar! It's nice and sensible when croozin, but lets out a lovely roar once you get up to about 3.5k revs. Theres no going back for me now! Best thing of all is that the missus hasn't even noticed I've changed it!
