  1. Rob, this jacking up the engine that you now appear to be pretty handy at :) How have you been doing this? Sticking a plank of wood between the jack & the sump, and loosening off the engine mounts? I'm a bit paranoid about crushing the sump using this method!! :?
  2. I've not been wanting to tempt fate before now, but I think this might be fixed!! After 6 months of head scratching and parts replacement, it seems that the main wiring loom going to the back right hand side of the engine had a loose connection. I also had a split breather hose that was causing some over-fuelling. Anyway, the connections have been tightened up & the breather hose replaced & hey presto, not more stutter, clicking from the relays or hesitancy! I'm well chuffed!! :D So, fingers are still crossed that's it sorted now, however, as we all know with Cs, the problem often comes back!! Now to find the source of the coolant leaking from the back of the engine.... Matrix pipes me thinks.
  3. Sorted the extremely annoying driver's side electric window mech rattle. Thats one rattle to strike of the list now anyway! :)
  4. Give this site a bash. An American site I know, but they usually have reviews on most things. :)
  5. Not entirely sure what "arches lights" are, but I don't believe there were any changes between J & K plate Cs.
  6. Looks like a good'un 8) I'll keep an eye out for you on the roads around Edinburgh, there aren't many local forum members.
  7. Ahh come on Michael no need to call it a shed its not that bad! I was gonna make that exact same joke yesterday. However, I thought better of it!!
  8. It's the golf one you need, but I would buy it from Stealth and tell Vince it's for a Corrado. I bought mine from Venom but then had to get the Silicon hose to attach to the MAF from Stealth at a cost of £25!! I think it works out cheaper to get it all from the same place & Stealth was the only place I could get some silicon hosing in the end.
  9. Ordered on Friday morning & received in the post Saturday morning!! Great service & a cracking little keyring. I'm very impressed, thanks. :)
  10. what made you swap initially ? A house! I had to sell up to get some money together for a flat & switch to a diesel Pug! 2 years of driving the diesel was enough boredom so I bought the VR, but kept the Pug, the missus drives it most of them time now though. I would have kept the Scooby if I could have afforded it & a house, but theres no looking back now I have the C :D . Anyway, apologies for the thread-jacking...
  11. Changed mine recently. Although it's not too taxing, it's fiddly, I'd recommend using the Wiki guide & DEFINITELY use a large cushion as suggested!!
  12. A '97 plate Scooby with 100K Vs a '95 Plate Corrado with 116K. Not a lot in it really.
  13. No really! Did you ever see the episode of the Simpsons when homer designed his own car? Well the car he designed reminds me of a scobby. :) You may mock, but I had a LOT LESS trouble with my Scobby in the 2 years I had than I have with the VR in 6 months. No danger I would swap back again though! :)
  14. I think the comment was in reference to the "Karmann" part, as all Corrados were Karmann built!
  15. I'd take the car to a garage to get it looked at. Sounds like a serious problem that you're probably best getting fixed sooner rather than later.... If only that was something the garage could fix!! I suppose I could do a DIY job with gaffer tape though!!!
  16. Lost out to a Mini Cooper S a few months back, only cos the missus started screaming at me to slow down though!!
  17. I think the other thread is the other way round - "Whatcha beaten in your Corrado".!
  18. I would have though that spacers are your only real option if the wheels are fouling on the inside? I could be wrong though! Your car is looking stunning BTW 8) .
  19. I think the ABS works, though I've never had to use it properly. I did try to test it out the other day & it seemed to work. The light on the dash does what it should, though there is some kind of ABS fault that comes up on VAGCOM, I've just ignored it until now as I think the ABS is ok. :? I assume I could expect the dash light to be on permanently if the pedal position sensor was disconnected?
  20. Got the wire wool to the earth connections to get rid of the oxidisation. Also gave the ISV a good old clean out with carb cleaner. Alternator replacement is tomorrows job (cheers bigpants baby!) :) !
  21. Ah well, not to worry then, I guess it can't be too important!! Thanks for checking anyway. Cheers, Doug
