  1. Hate to disagree guys, but I've just done this & you DON'T need to remove the centre console. Just remove the ashtray & cigarette lighter & remove the 4 screws for the heater panel If you push the left hand side of the controls back & manouver then right hand side forwards, you can wiggle the whole panel out. I've just done it a couple of times in the last few week, so it is possible! :) Tell you what though, it's a VERY annoying & fiddly job to do, so good luck! One word of advide, just be VERY careful with the aluminium sliders that the bowden cables attach to, I've broken 2 of them now...
  2. Fancying a set of these myself. A bloke on ebay does them for £500 inc budget tyres.
  3. The general opinion with the Corrado is that you should change shocks & springs at the same time with a matched combination. By the sounds of it you've only changed the springs (correct me if I'm wrong)which more than likely is your problem. I believe the quality of components used also has a huge affect on the car.
  4. Yup, thats all I ever feed my VR. I tried Tesco stuff once after getting the motor, but it really didn't like it. It's V-Power everytime now.
  5. I suppose I'm not a true "dubber" then, but does that make me less wothy of the being a member of the forum?? This is my first dub, but is one that I've always wanted. I've tried a lot of different cars now, but I feel it's been a progression to what I now have. I've had a 206 GTI a Scooby WRX & now a VR6 Corrado. I love my Corrado & don't think I could swap it for the world. So, where does that leave me in your eyes? :?
  6. I'll bring mine up one day then thats one more to grace the Orkney Islands. The missus is from Stromness so I've been up a fair bit over the past few years. Never been up in the C yet, maybe in the summer!?!
  7. The part no for the 16v/G60 coilovers is: FKKKVW57, the one for the VR6 is: FKKKVW58. You can assume that they would have the same part number if they were the same. Perhaps, as you mentioned it's just the spring rate that differs between the models?
  8. Oh cr@p. There goes my best intentions of DIY then. Either option is a bit beyond me to be honest. I guess I'll just wait until I need an oil change again, and I'll either drop the sump, change to oil & replace the sump gasket all in one go. Or take it to someone competent to go for their preferred option. Thanks for all advice guys.
  9. Apologies for dragging up an old post, but I'm a bit stumped for ideas. Here's my post on another topic: Whipped off one of the wheels this afternoon to see what is involved in replacing the wishbones. What I did notice is that the front bolt appears to be too close to the sump to remove. Am I being a bit dim here in thinking the sump is going to cause problems with removal? :? Any advice would be very welcome as I've just had an oil change & dont fancy having to remove the sump!! Cheers, Doug
  10. I've read through this post (thanks mrbeige) but I'm still confused as to how the front bolt next to the sump comes off? As the sump is in the way, the bolt won't actually come off. Any ideas?
  11. Welcome to the board :) Nice looking motor you have there. Unfortunately, I can't help you out with any of the parts you are after. Good to hear that another C is to be back on the roads though.
  12. Gotcha! :) I've had experience of both garages in Edinburgh now & I'm not too impressed. I'm going to check out a specialist that Reekie VR recommended next, it's just off Leith Walk.
  13. Ahh.. If inferior ones do compromise handling, you make a very good point dr_mat, thanks. I guess I'll have to pop along & see my favorite dealership again then...Damn, I swore I would give them no more of my hard earned cash!!
  14. Apologies, I've just found thisby using the search facility!!!
  15. Thanks for all ther advice that keeps coming my way guys, I really appreciate it. Whipped off one of the wheels this afternoon to see what is involved in replacing the wishbones. What I did notice is that the front bolt appears to be too close to the sump to remove. Am I being a bit dim here in thinking the sump is going to cause problems with removal? Any advice on the replacement, or indeed a user guide would be greatly appreciated. My mate & I are are keen to attempt this (he knows more than me!!) but our initial impression was that it's a bigger job than feared. Cheers, Doug
  16. Another very satisfied customer here too. I couldn't believe the speed of the delivery for the coilpack I ordered. It was by far the cheapest I could find too.
  17. Nice one, thanks mate. I'll give them a buzz & see what they can do them for. Do you know who makes them? dr_mat reckons that it's worth buying VAG, though if these ones turn out the same price as the ones you got, I could always replace them again for the about the same total price! :)
  18. I'll maybe price up some VW parts then & see what difference there is. Cheers, Doug
  19. Just came on to check that ebay link out!! I'll give these ones a miss then! :) Turns out it is the wishbone bushes that are split & not the wishbones themselves, fortunately!! They gave me a quote of £200 to replace the bushes!!! Not a chance. I reckon I'll get some wishbones from AVS or GSF & get the droplinks etc whilst I'm at it. Let me know how you get on with doing yours Rob. A mate of mine & I are going to take a look tomorrow to see how much work it involves. Cheers, Doug
  20. Cheers guys. Reekie, I think someone might have mentioned that garage to me, I'll give them a buzz & see what they are saying to it. Just priced up Wishbones, ARB Droplinks & ARB Bushes on vwspares (AVS), it's coming in at £104. Does anyone know if that sounds reasonable? Cheers. Doug
  21. It's in at the kind folks at Western on Gorgie Rd mate. Not particularly cheap, but thats what you'd expect from the stealers!! I'll probably not get them to do the work to be honest!! If I knew what on earth I was doing then I'd do the work myself, but, unfortunately, it's all a bit beyond me! Thanks for all the advice guys, I'll price up the wishbones, bushes, ARB bushes & ARB droplinks & see about getting it done somewhere cheaper! Reekie, any recommendations? Cheers, Doug
  22. I'm kind of hoping it's just the bushes! I'll check with them when I pick it up later on. If it was the wishbones, will it still be ok to drive? And if it's the bushes, I'm assuming it'll be ok to drive, but I should chenge them soon?
  23. Got the C at the Stealers for the worlds most expensive oilchange, just so I can get the book stamped. They carry out a free inspection report & note any issues with the car, so I got them do give it the once over. They've just phoned me to say that the front wishbones are split, the sump gasket is leaking & one of my shocks is also leaking. I'm not too concerned about the 2 leaks as the sump is only a very slight leak & the same with the shock (I'm planning on lowering it soon anyway). My only concern is the wishbones being split. I only spoke to the receptionist & she wasn't too sure how bad this was, but how concerned should I be about this? Cheers in advance. Doug
