Hi Tjninny I have the Jetex cat and zorst. The cat was patterned from my old VR cat, its easily half the weight and was supplied with plenty of adapters and clamps for fitting. I did have a few issues fitting to my down pipes but they are after market so not Jetex issue. The hard part was getting the lambda probe out of the old cat first, I ended up heating it with a blow torch to free it off. Few things I would say is that Jetex dont actually make the cat so you might be able to hunt down those that do, I will dig out addresses etc if your interested? Other thing is, the cat has to sit at a bit of an odd angle to get the probe in. There are pics on my build thread

Big (for me) update with newness added The wheels are back from Lepsons and have been shod with some sticky new Yokohama: next up was this big box shiny: no pics of the installation but all on now bit tight at the front, but not set the camber or anything yet

Bloody typical! Did you call into the BHP Show at Lydden by any chance?

I'm in Kent between Canterbury and Dover. Sounds like there is a fair split between the suppliers with not a lot to chose between them

Unfortunately, there is no one close to me listed and to be honest I really need my own now to look after the fleet.

Im looking at getting Vag Com but I am wondering where to get it from? I know Ross-Tech are the US distributor and they list Gendan, V-Tech and ilexa All have very slightly different packages for slightly different prices, I want to be able to communicate with as much as possible not just the VR6. I would like to be able to reset the remote central locking on the other half's MK1 TT and check the codes on an Audi A1 for starters. Any suggestions would be appreciated Thanks

Slight hijack of a topic here but is there any benefit to adding injection to a NA VR6? I guess the principle is the same but the impact would be less due to the lower deltaT? That said, the VR does run hot so would it benefit from the lowering of temp? Would this also need to be progressively controlled? I see Devils Own do a voltage controlled system picking up from the MAF sensor. SOOO many questions, but the real big one is; is it worth it?

OK so does anyone know where I can get early VR top spring plates from? I found them on VW Heritage but out of stock, I cant find them anywhere else Part No: 1 HO 412 341 Can anyone point me in the right direction please?
-
Then that makes it a different issue, still annoying, but not strictly Bilstein's fault
-
Right this was the question I asked in my first post! I thought that all the 5 stud had the +Axle and so the same spring plates, if that is not the case, then its just annoying and not Bilstein's fault. I have the later +Axle but now I need to get hold of the early spring plates to replace my newer ones

OK So not cutting down the bump stops is fine, and if not required to cut down then I have no beef. Top mounts I was always going to change as part of the job. I am fine with Bilstein not supplying top mounts as the OEM equipment that would already be fitted to the car would fit with the new suspension. I have the instructions and diagram in front of me as I write this they state that on the plus axle you need to use part No 1 HO 412 341 and that part No 357 412 341 A fitted to the vehicle is not required. This is my point. they know that the parts fitted to my car will not work with the suspension they have supplied and stated is fit for my car - that is unfair and makes the point of ordering the kit suited for a 5 stud VR pointless as they appear to send the same kit either way

Soooooo, having spent a small fortune on a new Bilstein B12 Pro Kit for the VR and stripping off the rear struts, I then had to order another stack of parts (new bump stops, upper mounts new bolts because the old ones snapped) So a further £100 gone and apparently I need to cut down the new bump stops and here starts my issues, given that the struts are shorter and I have to cut down the bump stops, I really feel that these should be included as fitting your existing or OEM is not an option, but that aside, I continue to the front end of the car. By this point I have already ordered new bump stops to cut up, new top mounts and bearings as well as dust covers and so I progress. Now I read the paperwork and discover that the bump stops are built in and the dust covers are already on the strut - this would be fair enough, but does rather add to my bump stop argument about the rear struts. When I go to fit the new gear together, I find a note about the "Base Axle V the Plus Axle" - Now this note rather helpfully informs me that if I have the plus axle (and how to identify it) then I need to ditch the spring plates that are fitted to the car as standard so requiring different spring plates. So I have a question in so much as to my understanding, all VR6 have the plus axle and so all have the smaller top spring plate. Given that the kit I ordered specified that it was a VR6 5Stud version, the spring plates I had on the car or even OEM would be fit to use on this set yet again, there are no new spring plates in the friggin box so I am going to have to sped yet more money Not impressed.

OK, I will have a look at them. Do they work as spring assists as they should do? How about these ones? they look a little more robust: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pair-of-German-Febi-Bilstein-Rear-Bump-Stops-for-VW-Mk2-Mk3-Golf-Corrado-Vento/400742111876?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D35308%26meid%3D30ba9af0d3644adea4d05985cccb0d99%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D3%26sd%3D361524487428 Thanks

Hi all, I am just in the process of fitting new B12 struts and springs and have found that the bump stops from the existing are knackered and so I need to replace them. I know i need to cut them down as I am lowering the car, but the real issue is where can I get new bump stops from? Neither EuroCar Parts or GSF have them listed on the websites and I really need to get this done ASAP. Any help would be good thanks

OK. Looking for anything in particular? I don't have a silencer box on mine and had to make up a new section off the back of the intake pipe to the UFO thing... Thinking about it, this was all a twat to get to fit

I have been getting the Storm up and running at the moment and I am coming across a few issues as I go. I initially had an issue where the car would rev upto 4K then misfire and retard all the way to a stall. I found this to be caused by a bad earth on the Schrick manifold controller. I re earthed the controller and had the car up and running, sorted the vac lines for the Schrick and had this operating with no issues. I have had the car running on long idles to run in, test cooling systems, check for anything missing (like the lambda i had forgotten to connect) all has been good with no real issues UNTIL TONIGHT Wanted to show the old man the operation of the Schrick, took the revs up and at 3500, hit a misfire, the revs drop to 3k before climbing again. This happened repeatedly each time at 3.5k. the system is happy once it gets past this and the Schrick still operates. Admitedly I have changed cams, the Schrick, exhaust and it has not had any mapping done but this appears to be very odd to me. My next step moving forward is to check all the vac connections for the Schrick and shorten the hoses as these are still very long as that made it easier to test on my own as i had not decided on fixing locations Any other ideas people?

Sunroof mech lubed and refitted tonight!! Just need some time calibrate and fit the top plate now. So just when it looked like things were going well, I now have a massive misfire at 3.5k!!

Thanks gents. My idea would have been to use the try to house the ipod i keep in the car and possibly a second tray to house phone and charger whilst driving. I figured the lugs would have to go and thought I may have to do something along the lines of mating 2 trays together maybe? Anyway, I need one for a late dash so its all just pipe dreams
-
Hello mate, do you know if this is for an early or late C? Also could you possibly offer an iPod up against an open tray please? (braces for the purist assault)

I have the full setup from my storm where I have replaced with a schrick if your interested? Upper and lower manifold, TB linkage, heat shield and hose if required? PM me if you want pics or more info Alex
