13% off the share price already!! The thing here is the officials know that all manufacturers are at it. VW however are bigger than most and so have the most to gain from doing it and most to lose getting caught. The conspiracy theorists will also point out that American makes will also be doing it but will probably avoid issues as the US will protect its own. Its all a bit of a joke when you consider the average American car is about a 6L V8 that produces 12BHP at 13mpg. Will be interesting to see how VW recovers and if VW USA exists as a separate company protecting the VW group. My guess is VW will be the first of many

OK So I have been very quiet of late but thought i would update you nice peeps with an update with some recent shopping. This week I have taken delivery of a second Genesis amp, Set of braided hoses to convert to the 312mm setup and MK4 rears and then today, these turned up today! All was good with the world then I turned them over and found this and then this NOT A HAPPY BOY NOW

I had heard about the CEI/CEII differance, but im assuming that so long as i have both diagrams, i should be able to get close enough to pick out the rest. Some of the Digifiz also say CEI and CEII on them so i need to have a look and see if there are 2 sets of wiring diagrams. It may all soon go out of the window as the boiler has started giving be grief at just under a year old!

So has anyone ever attempted this? There are a few sets on the Bay at the moment that I am keeping my eye on. I know the unit is smaller than the Corrado gauges, but i can make up a frame of some sort and fab some brackets to secure it all into place so that does not bother me too much. Next on the hit list would be taking care of the 6 pot signal for the tacho, I understand that you can get a frequency converter to take care of that signal as I think it is also a high voltage pulse. The speedo pickup uses something from a MK3 i think but the kits I'm looking at already have that in it so it should be a straight swap with the gearbox sensor. I have the wiring diagrams for both the Corrado and the Digifiz so most of that should be chopping and splicing the looms together. Few things I am not sure about are if the gearbox sensor is the same on the MK2 and the Corrado and also if the fuel senders are the same in the golf and the corrado. Would love to hear peoples views and opinions and if anyone has any idea about doing the work at all?

The DeathStar is sweet, I have the second one, that make a play set, I would love the original one based on the part built second DeathStar with it part clad and part open. As for the old red Test car, that is THE set I always wanted. If I get time tomorrow, I will start a build thread with all the sets we currently have. Would be fun for people to post all the Lego builds that are going on

We love Lego in our house. I have the F40 ready to go and the other half has the Big Bang set, but were not allowed to open them until the sanding and the priming has been done on the stairs. I have to say, as we don't have kids in the house, we have a LOT of Lego including some really awesome sets that we have collected over the years including the VW Camper, the Mini, Super Star Destroyer and all the Harry Potter sets because we are the kids in this house! To think a few years ago, Lego was on its arse and in risk of going under! Kids today are getting into it again and we have started buying it for my nephew to get another generation into it. I still feel that a lot of my engineering understanding comes from years spent building Technic sets as a kid

Has anyone else noticed the sudden influx of Digifiz on the bay in the past week or so? It would appear that someone has got hold of a box of NOS saying they have 10 available! Why do i never find this in the back of the shed? So on a related note, anyone know how to get this to work with a VR6? Always wanted one, back when i had a Rallye but would be awesome in the C

The Corrado has just broken cover on the Wheeler Dealer FB page https://www.facebook.com/MrWheelerDealer?fref=photo

I have 2 sunroof mech, I need to strip them both out and swap them over next week (one old one new, need to swap them over as one is broken) Once its all out and swapped, if it helps, you can have what ever is left to pattern if that helps?

I know your right. I just want to get the thing finished and working first. Once its all up and running, then i will look into getting it secure

IT LIVES!! Stripped out the ignition switch and tried the bypass with no luck. disconnected the connection to the starter and re connected, then tried the key and the starter spun, but didn't engage. Eventually found the connectors for the voltage regulator had been undone, back together and it fired on the button Thanks for the help guys

Thats all good mate. Just keep me in the loop please. Im not desperate for them yet, only got it fired up for the first time today and still need wheels and brakes. Alex

Is this thread still live? Are the sets still available? If so, what is the difference between the 12s and the 14s? Thanks
-
Awesome. That's another job for this week if I get to the bottom of the argument that is about to kick off the local garage about her TT. I will post a separate rant on that tomorrow after I speak to them directly

I have had a go at that but i dont know. I cant prove if its the alarm system or the switch. Is there a test for the switch or does anyone know if a procedure for changing out?
-
Ok, gents, tested tonight and found that there is no activation voltage getting to the starter. How do I test the ignition switch? Is there an easily accessible point to get the meter onto and see what is and is not functioning?
-
If its the switch, then i might look into push button ignition just because im a big kid

Back in my G40 and Rallye days, I have had chargers rebuilt by GWerks back when they were up and running and its a shame they have gone as they always did a bang up job and turnd around in good time. They even found damage as caused by Jabba from a previous rebuild on the 60 out of the Rallye so personally I would not go to Jabba

Thanks for the replies, I had seen about the ignition switch issue so i will also look into that however I have had it running before the engine was out so I think i will probably have to go through the loom and see where i have power and where I don't. The alarm is functional as the vac pump runs and attempts to lock/unlock the doors that are not yet fitted. Putting the key to stage also starts the elec water pump that sequels like a stuck pig as i cant get enough water moving

I have a Storm with the factory/forecourt option alarm system (Conlog)and it appears to be stopping me from starting the engine. I have replaced both the batteries in the fobs (with the rarest batteries in the world!) but it still wont start. I can arm and disarm on the fob as backed up by the indicators flashing. If I arm, the vac system pulls to lock the doors etc (although only the boot lid if fitted) When I put the key in and try to fire, I get the dash lights on, usual oil, water brake lights then when I go for start, I can hear a relay pull in but not turning or any attempt to fire. I have tried with a fob both in and out of the over ride socket under the glove box as prior to the works being carried out, the only way I got it to start and not to alarm whilst in storage was to put the fob in position. Anyone had any dealings with this system how to check it, any known issues or even just how to bypass it? Thanks
-
My advise would be to avoid the Bose gear. We are in the process of ripping it all out of the other half's TT as its really not very good. As others have said, there are lots of after market options available

Also if the electric pump is shot, is it worth replacing or removing?

Evening all. I was trying to restart the VR today after the build but I have run into yet more issues and wonder if anyone can shed any light on them please? Firstly, when i power up, the secondary coolant pump runs and is squealing like a stuck pig. I have tried pumping the hoses to push water around etc and proven that I have water getting up to the throttle body. Now admittedly, I have not put any antifreeze in yet but the noise is shocking as though its running dry. Is there a bleeding process I should be following or will firing the engine and so turning the main pump push everything round ok? Next up - the battery is knackered, but i can sort that later in the week so I tried to jump it from another car however it looks as though the alarm system has kicked in. This is a Storm with the optional extra alarm. I have 2 fobs for the alarm, one is in the override box, but as soon as i go for the ignition, the hazards kick off and there is no spark or attempt to fire. It looks like the batteries in both fobs have failed, does anyone know what size these batteries are please? also, I assumed that with a fob in the over ride box, the car would still fire or does the fob still need power? Finally, does anyone know what gearbox oil I should be using? I just want to hear it fire up now!! Thanks in advance

Awesome - thanks will make a call tomorrow

I have been looking for a thread on here that had part numbers and suppliers (think it was goodridge) to fit 312 calipers to the front and mk4 rears. Does anyone have this info to hand at all?
