mine's got a new tensioner since I broke down on the way home after Christmas. Took about 5 hrs to get home instead of 1 but it saved me plenty of petrol
-
wow! hope this car makes it to some of the shows down south - I've never come across any of the press cars so it'd be great to see it. I'm glad you're going to make it as original as poss. Much as I like the personalised ones, I think it's good to have a few around (and in trusted hands) which are as VW intended and what a car for this project. Good luck with the demodernising!!
-
you're spot on with that. Was only ever gonna buy blackberry. Just wish I had the time/funds/knowledge to make mine as beautiful as yours  keep up the great work!

shame it took PCGB so long to get this far. I know all the techies cos I work with them and could have introduced you but I leave on tuesday... mostly they're good guys though so I'm sure they wouldn't mind you going up for a chat. Glad you think it went well so make sure you keep this thread updated with what happens! Didn't expect you to have time for a walk about but I'm sure I'll see you at a meet sometime and we'll talk rados and porkas then! Fingers crossed for you
-
yeah I know Roger - he told me about this site!! Poor guy phoned me about some work and I chatted on about rados for half an hour! dunno what he does at PCGB tho... Good luck for friday if I don't see you but I'm sure I'll see your beemer amongst all the porsches!

good luck for friday. If you get a break and want to meet another forum member, I work in the very small office next to the workshop. You won't miss it - it's got christmas decorations everywhere! It's also one of my last days at Porsche. After working there for about 3 and a half years I'll be sad to go, but I was made an offer I couldn't refuse! What job are you applying for? I'll look out for your rado in the car park

How many C owners plan to have a Porsche one day?
scarlet_vr6 replied to Phil K's topic in General Car Chat
I considered a 944 a few years ago too but I decided I'm not old enough for a porsche yet he he. My mum has a 944 which I drive now and again but it's slower than my vr (which I constantly remind her about  ) so I wouldn't have got anything less than a turbo and I couldn't have afforded that. My faves (of the more affordable ones) are the 911SC Targa and any of the 993s. Yes I know the Targas rattle LOADS, let water in, get knifed by someone jealous etc etc but they just look so good. esp in black with those black leather seats with white piping. mmm.... I also like the boxy look of the 944 cabs but don't think I'd choose one. If I could choose any, it would be a Carrera GT in Fayence Yellow with black leather seats or a 997 GT3 RS. That won't happen though! Unless anyone on here has a few £m they'd like to share with me??... -
those poor once beautiful cars. It makes me want to cry

Is your Corrado your "best" car, or your runabout?
scarlet_vr6 replied to PhatVR6's topic in General Car Chat
also too poor to have a 2nd car. I *really* wish I could afford to keep my C garaged and summer use only, but like Critical_Mass, at least I have the fun of driving my C every day! -
New Car Time - My hand has been forced Alfa here I come!!!!!
scarlet_vr6 replied to Blue_Joe's topic in General Car Chat
go Alfa. The Saab 9-3 I drove last yr was a barge but I admit it had no upgrades at all. Anyway you shouldn't have a beige interior yet - you're only 30! Black with red all the way!! :) -
btw when I said I couldn't see a thing I meant it was worse than when it rains hard

The steam was so thick that I almost thought the car was on fire!! Quite amusing looking back on it now! What wasn't so fun was waiting on the side of the dual carriageway in the middle of November with wet feet waiting for the AA to tow my car home and trying to soak up a small lake from the drivers footwell using an old beer towel that was lurking in the boot... the carpet is still crispy - if only I had known to replace mine before that happened  occasionally I wonder why we go through the expense and inconvenience of owning old cars but I only have to look out my window at my C to remember why :D gd luck to all getting their's sorted - I know it's a dashboard-out job
-
get it done asap! my heater matrix went a year ago when I was doing about 80 down the A34. V scary cos I couldn't see a thing from the *thick* steam billowing out from behind the steering wheel. Talk about emergency stop - I was out of the car (and standing in front of the oncoming traffic :cuckoo: ) in about 5 seconds! I was out of the car so quickly that my legs didn't even get burnt!! Not fun.
-
my vr makes that noise too and I had wondered about the tappets. more expense then  worth it to own this car though :D
-
yeah if you registered it in my name  If you want I could talk to a couple of people and see what discount they would give (not much I don't expect!) but worth a try. btw, I work at PC Reading - quite a drive from Swansea. PM me and let me know what you're after - model, age, spec, mileage, colour etc and your price range and I'll see what's in group stock (which is 5 sites worth of cars). I have access to all the vehicle details so can find out pretty much whatever you want to know...
-
a couple of weeks ago someone opened their car door into mine whilst I was sitting in it and then had the audacity to have a go at me "cos that's what bump strips are for". I think not. gl getting yours sorted I also live in fear of my car being keyed, kicked or whatever by some ignorant disrespectful or just jealous ****. It really gets to me that most people just don't care

don't get me wrong I love *all* Porsches - I even work there! I'm just a bit smitten by the Cayman at the mo! 911 still has to be best though and sooooooooo glad they've gone back to the 993 look with the 997 - beautiful! Just wish I had the money to buy one but I too am saving for a house - proving to be v difficult being the owner of a somewhat temperamental C!! LJ you've got my sympathy
-
saysomestuff - always jobs going! (maybe even mine if I get through my interviews although I feel like I'm tempting fate by writing this...!) zippy - I take it you didn't win the GT raffle then? Glad you had a gd day. I did when I went last year - best day at work I've ever had!
-
guess it's prob out of your price range from what you've said but if you can, get a Cayman not a Boxster - *much* nicer to drive imo gl getting the Boxster you want tho
-
Quickest car you've been in, owned and most interesting....
scarlet_vr6 replied to NickVR6's topic in General Car Chat
been a passenger in most Porsches inc. 996 Turbo, 996 GT2, 996 GT3, 996 GT3 RS and best of all a Carrera GT. The GT was awesome and we hit 165 and never made it into top gear... loved it  fastest car I've driven would be a 996 too but top speed I've done is in my C fastest I've owned is my little old unmodded vr - bless! -
after a match today as a ringer for Salisbury, one of my team got off the bus, saw my C and with jaw on the floor and finger jabbing the air "is that a Corrado? Is it yours?" "yup" (feeling a bit smug) "I've always wanted one of those. You don't wanna swap it for an old Escort do you?" No - you're right, I don't.
-
Basingstoke Autocentre quoted me 5 hrs work @ £47ph + VAT to replace my "copper brake pipes which have rusted" however they did pass on the discount given to them when their parts supplier delivered a rad for a 4 cylinder C not a 6 cylinder one

Hey Neil, nice site you've got there (and nice G60!). just wondering about the diff products you have for sale - is Mer or Meguiars better? what would you recommend as a good basic starter kit for someone who can't afford everything at once but who wants to make her C even more beautiful?! also the valeters where I work use cherry bomb - what do you think of it? are the shampoos you sell better? sorry to pester you with so many qs - I do want to spend some money but don't want to regret my product choice! def gonna get some microfibre cloths though. sooooo fed up with bits of yellow duster/rubbish chamois everywhere! Thanks ps. I have joined your forum too and found the free sticker thing before I even knew about it. Just got to work out how to enter the code lol...

Hey. Just wondering what the job at Porsche is - I work at the Reading site (been there for over 3 yrs now) and work with the technicians on the recon side of things. Means I get to see those Carrera GTs every day... Guess you didn't see the staff carpark then or you would have seen my Corrado  Reckon you should quit Samsung, not feel guilty and get back to what you want to do - after all no business decision is made cos someone feels bad
