I guess the best way to look at it is that you won't be putting too many miles on and it'll make the times you do drive it worthwhile :? Sometimes I wish I could afford another car so that my rado could be a bit better looked after. Well I've made a start to improving mine... Jealous about a charger too!!
-
oh no! but good plan!
-
very impressive! but surely your rado doesn't need this? It always looks fantastic in the pics you put up!!

MOT Fail. Can you check the price of my quote please?

the garage I've been using in Basingstoke charge at least 40 quid an hour. Def not cheap round this way. If you find somewhere cheaper lmk, cos I'm always on the lookout for a cheap rado-friendly garage (other than The Phirm).... -
I was thinking that too dinkus, but as a guilty party I was keeping quiet

speed cameras, traffic-calming schemes, traffic islands, sticking in the odd roundabout or set of lights here and there, more and more road signs (usually reducing the speed limit), painting the roads lots of lovely different colours... certainly not better surfaces or filling in potholes!

no offence taken dr_mat :) but I do have a couple of things to say... I def didn't see it on a C4 documentary as I don't have a television (like you dole queues and sky tv aren't my cup of tea!), I think I read it somewhere on a website. Having said that, I wouldn't believe everything I watched on TV/read on a www site as I consider the media to be a negative bunch who will always sensationalise things to increase their readership. I am far too cynical for that. My cynicism also extends to politicians funnily enough and there is not a chance that I will believe that the world's most powerful people have suddenly got the best interests of the masses at heart. There are plenty of hidden agendas at work here and the ultimate aim is more money and more power. The more they can control and tax, the happier they are, it seems to me. What a cynic! In measureable history, there may well be a rise in global temperatures, but can you really be sure that all these records are accurate anyway? After all, technology and measuring tools are improving aren't they?? And what about the history of the planet - on a grand scale is a potential blip important? I'm not saying we shouldn't care and I am playng devil's advocate a bit, but I'm trying to make a point. How do I even know that what you say is correct  Don't think that I don't care either. The state of the planet, not just the nation is disgraceful - litter in one form or another everywhere, forests and habitats being wiped out all over the place, species on the verge of extinction, the list seems endless. Global warming seems, to me, only one of a whole list of problems but it just seems the most fashionable one at the moment. I'm sure when we've been run financially dry and this topic is a bit stale, there will be a new problem for us all to feel suitably guilty about. oh and *sensible* public transport is a great idea. In fact I'd welcome it for my work journey. That would mean fewer work miles (which is hardly the fun bit of driving) for my beloved rado on bad road surfaces (potholes, speed bumps etc) which would mean more time to spend getting him to the state I want him in. However it'll never work until it's affordable, accessible and reliable... until then I'll keep driving my big polluting car. Of course, if motoring was cheaper, I would have a small engined, more environmentally friendly motor as my daily and keep my hobby as just that  !! Well, like you, dr_mat, my post seems to have gone on a bit :)

deep breath otherwise I'll rant. This sort of thing really makes me angry. It is (as everyone has said) just another con. The global warming doesn't exist nearly as much as they say. Apparently their figures are incorrectly worked out anyway, although I struggle in my rage to remember where I heard about this. It wouldn't be so bad if the money from ROAD tax was spent on ROADS but it isn't and I know I'm not the only one who has damaged her car recently from the bad surfaces (mine was an alloy cracked beyond repair after hitting a pothole in the dark). It makes me so mad esp since I know I can't do a thing about it :censored: It also seems so unfair that just cos my main interest is having a nice car, I have to pay more for my hobby. I know that tax is on everything but motorists are just so picked on. Why didn't I choose a nice cheap hobby like space travel or something???? ok so maybe I ranted anyway! Few things make me angry but this totally winds me up. Time for another deep breath and a different thread I think

good choice :D and welcome!

another vote for Audi Coupe...

That's something we're all familliar with, welcome to Corrado ownership  hope you have a flexible wallet and a sympathetic bank manager  It would be gd to see another blackberry as it's such a lovely colour. You'll have get some pix up soon. Welcome!

To paint or not to paint, that is the question..
scarlet_vr6 replied to PhatVR6's topic in General Car Chat
I reckon if you re-read your post you'll see loads of reasons to get it done now and only one not to, which would be break the bank but hey, you own a Corrado lol I think the most valid point is... which won't go away EVER, that is until you get it sorted! I say go for it and feel chuffed when it's done. oh and post some pix of progress!! -
ha ha like it. I voted but not keen on it either really. I voted cos I wanted to be part of it but like the fact that blackberry's a bit different. In the 20 or so mths I've had mine, I have only seen 2 others and that's including the meets I've been to.... EDIT.... really ought to stop posting tonight cos it keeps posting everything twice. Think the connection is a bit strange here but I haven't got anything else to do

mmm. tried an apple tobacco shisha in egypt a few yrs ago and it was really nice. I didn't buy one cos I thought I might end up starting to smoke and that means less money for the rado
-
Nikki, blackberry is bramble under red............ :(
-
eeek was my thought too! so I assume BLACKberry and white is better then turbomagikz??
-
that would be Ridgeway. I've done well with them, always used to get 10% discount just cos I bothered to ask them how there day was etc etc... sometimes it works both ways. Martins in Basingstoke have been gd so far too and pleased to say that the assistant parts manager there is female and seems to know her stuff, was polite, chatted to me about my C and even tried to do the impossible and find me a front vr6 badge! Having said that, I've never ordered anything complicated, just small trim bits but that was before I found CF. I do know exactly what you mean though Nikki - the patronising tone that some of these guys take on can make you wanna knee em (not that I've ever done so!) and wipe that smug smirk from their face. Fingers crossed for the rest of those parts

I remember a great evening table dancing in the Folly! I've only been once and unfortunately it was only 4 weeks after I broke my leg so I couldn't dance as much as I would have liked but I still managed!! It did seem weird when the guy who had just served us our dinner suddenly joined the band and then the whole place went mad... all drinks, plates, ashtrays etc went on the floor or on chairs and everyone got on the tables and danced. It was a struggle to keep table space and not fall off. Manic!! I'd love to go back but don't sail very often sadly. vwchick, hope you get a good drive. I remember when I finally got my rado after at least 5 years of wanting one. I went down to Cornwall in mine and had a great time. The looks you get when you put your foot down are fantastic. 18mths on and the feeling still hasn't worn off :D oh and I still look out of the window and gaze at my C too!
-
Mine need doing too and I have been quoted £268.39 by my local garage :( not that that's much help to you. Good luck!
-
me, me, me. I want one please!! I'll call tomorrow to pay then. Thanks
-
...and another for the Momo Race. As Henny says, it's not too OTT
-
thanks for the offer Toad, but I've just bought and collected Goldie's EBCs and he going to help me fit them so I hope it's not a bad job. Looking forward to being able to stop a bit better soon! Hopefully will have new rears by monday too. As for getting timing chains, clutch and head gasket done at the same time, it might end up cheaper but I'll have to save for about a year first! I dunno about the answers to all your other qs but they took out the plugs 2, 4 and 6 and sussed it from there. They smelt horrible! :gag:

hi G60_91, welcome to CF! Just look for the paint code on the sticker on the rear panel in the boot and click for the wiki. There is a colours download at the bottom of the page. let us know and get some pics up soon!

yes I want a fleet of them! I can't think of a car today that I would want in 10yrs time which would have all the +ves that the rado has now. Maybe an R32? I would really like another vr to drive around in now so I could get my current one resprayed/rebuilt to concours standard. The dream falls apart when I remember I can barely afford to keep this one on the road   The C's a headturner now - just think how great it will be in 10yrs! BRING IT ON!!! EDIT: btw, I mean a Golf R32 - I don't want to turn into Drifty lol

so sad that you had to see what it looks like on the move in those circs. I'm amazed that you're joking about this - I know I would be at the other end of the 'laugh or cry' line. That or still :bad-words: I'm with you on that. Just thinking about what has happened to you makes me know exactly what you mean. fingers still crossed for you
