G60 whistle during rev build up and ecu removal
ninoG60 replied to corrado_sunderland's topic in Engine Bay
sorry to hijack the thread but any popping on over run would that indicate rich mixture? I dont run a lambda so would this be making the fuel rich, mind u it has become less common since i had one of Gwerks chips as opposed to the mental BBR chip i had in there -
i would say , try to get another one than repair one as such, it will never be "right" post weld stress cracking and you would have to make sure it was a sound repair before machining it as you could get porosity in the weld and then its grind back and start again, in my opinion i wouldnt bother. hope this helps

it would be ry hard work to put down a weld bead down at the bottom of the scroll i think as the electrode would have to stick out of the tig torch miles and this would mean that it wouldnt be able to make a good arc as it relies on ionisation of particles , erm in other words if you tried to tig weld so deep with the non consumable electrode sat out so far, with Aluminium alloy, it would just go black and not work, same would go for mig as the gap would need to be pretty close and i doubt you could get a mig torch down there unless it had a thin neck . as for machining it would have to be a long series end mill or slot drill, you could get them i think but its all a case of getting it set up on a milling machine and then putting it on a rotary table so that you could accurately machine the weld bead assuming you could get it welded so deep . Id not bother to be honest in other words Maybe theres someone who has done it , credit to you if you have :salute:

Wierd Brake Problem And Supercharger Oil! *G60*
ninoG60 replied to a98pmalcolm's topic in Engine Bay
could be master cylinder or in my case the brake pressure compenastor as i changed my master cylinder for a bigger one and it still did it up until i swapped the brake pressure compensator. -
i believe Jay Renshaws car became a 24v v6, so where did his old engine and ECU go? Is it the one thats sat in my car>? Probably not but just thought Id ask, cos my engine came out of a corrado G60 that had a rear end shunt , I know its a long shot butmaybe that engine ended up in another rado and then it was written off and I got hold of it. Off topic , but is there any way of linking a certain engine number to a car and finding out the reg number? just curious as to where my G60 lump came from,. Cheers :)

If it is that compnay, they were wicked in the 80s and 90s ( old git me) remember them doing starions and cossies . It does run pretty good tbh and its pretty pokey 8)

Has anyone seeen or heard of this company? I got a good mate to prise open my ECU as I didnt fancy it and we discovered i have a BBR chip, which i thought was brodie britain racing ( think they did turbos for mx5s back in the 90s) So my question is , has anyone else got one and if so is the BBR company im talking about? i cant upload the pic as it says it has to be 800 pixels wide or summat so ill just tell you whats witten on it BK28 , G60 PH1, (6636MN1) BBR '98, 17.04.98 VW

Thats what I thought but I went for it with mine 175 Bhp and 187 lb ft torque Happy with the result seeing as im running with a charger thats never been serviced (100K) and 70mm pulley and unknown chip Video below Sorry to Hijack your thread Neil lol

we can have a go mate at doin the timing again, at least we can say we tried. if that dont do it, get it ready and after vag08, we will sort summat out about attacking it a different way, not with a trolley jack though! :)
-
Id just like to add to this thread, the timing was done on mine exactly the same way and i have no problems whatsoever, no hesitation or popping, it was done by Riley so if mine is running ok, so should his. Im all for the theory that its fuel related, running lean, but i dont know why,. Im no expert but doing them 2 things must richen up the mixture (BTS and WOT) and it runs perfect, well better albeit a bit rich.. Will try the timing again and see what that brings

Hey good progress made there, looks a very tidy job too :) . looking forward to the other 2 modifications lol

its also recommended to fit a supercharger :)

any updates? did it make any noticeable difference porting the elbow and knife edging the throttle body?

I dont run a lambda sensor on mine and its fine , emissions were 0.19 Co and Hydrocarbons were 20 PPM I still think its fuelling, but cant pinpoint it to where the problem lies it may not bug you , but it does me! :(

my money is on fuel, if there was a way of testing it by putting red top injectors on and then seeing how it ran, seems strange that it disappears when wot is taped shut, but the bts issue is kinda steering towards it too, when its connected to the bts off the car , ie resing on the slam panel, does it mean that it assumes the car is cold and runs off a different map, ie chucking more fuel in until it warms up and then it goes into a different map setting? Need a willing donator of some red tops to prove my theory ( wrong or right) It aint getting to you , which is good, but its bugging the heck outta me!

Currently running an 8v gti brake setup looking to upgrade to G60 , have the 22mm master cylinder, but i think i have a dodgy servo so want to replace it. Would the one out of a mk3 vr6 or anything from mk2 or mk3 fit? cheers

G60 getting to much fuel. SOLVED! Aftermarket Lambda-sensor
ninoG60 replied to mmmbeer's topic in Engine Bay
id be interested in this as my mates G60 golf runs badly when it had the lambda plugged in, unplug it and all is well. any ideas anyone? -
anyone with access can u see if G60 Steelies are still available Anyone know the part number? i need to find out also the part number for the black centre cap that you can get, mind you i may just but the flat centre caps and get them powder coated So part number for wheel and flat centre caps and black plastic ones Cheers

might have a go myself, looks like some gains could be had. :D

did mine on a milling machine and then used flap wheel and polishing wheels to do mine, flusted hows yours?
