Excellent advice David. Much appreciated 8)

Thanks Dave. Which Passat should i be looking at and is it an easy fit as in not needing to remove the rack etc? Sorry, bit crud on these things!
-
YAN....Do you know why they're supposed to be glued on? Are they prone to coming off? Do you know what glue is best to use? Worrying a tad now!!
-
VWDEVIANT....Where did you get them Toyo's fitted for £49 a boot?

Apologies for hi-jacking this thread but i think my p/steering leak is coming from the pipe that starts rubber/plastic then goes to metal (very rusty metal in my case) attatching to the rack if that makes any sense. Is this pipe available seperately or do i have to buy a whole new rack?? Again a 1990 1.8 valver.

Valvers are cr*p in the speed department anyway, and after driving the instant pull of a G40 thats made it all the more noticable! I had my valver serviced 2 weeks ago incl oil, plugs (old ones were way shot) air filter, fuel filter and a new front engine mount fitted due to the old one being torn all the way round. And i can honestly say my car drives exactly like it did pre-service. No smoother, faster or more responsive :( I changed the dizzy cap and rotor arm this year too. Just the leads to go but they look ok.

Try doing a search mate or looking at some old threads as i'm sure this has been asked before.
-
As far as i know i think it should as both engines are essentially the same. But don't take my word for it though!!! A free thread bump for you though as somebody on the forum defo knows the answer :D

They're a proper pain to remove. Mine cracked then snapped when trying to remove it leaving me little option but to 'chip' it off bit by bit using a small hammer and sharp chisel. I know someone on here used a Dremmel to get theres off, which sounds a damn fine (and less brutal) idea to me. Once removed, just slide the new one on without glue as mentioned above and you should'nt have any probs. Mines been on for a good few thousand miles now with no problems whatsoever.

Nice one deviant :salute: 135 bhp and 130 torque in a nice new shiny car versus my 136 bhp, 119 torque, 127k and 17yr old C!!...I'm havin' that victory

Haha!! Sounds like your pops a switched on kinda guy

That Festa i tussled with was definitely not one of them new ST jobbies but was the shape just before the new style one was launched. I'm going for it having an engine swap because my engine is fine. Uses no oil or water, does not smoke and always pulls cleanly with no flat spots. It just didn't look like a genuine Zetec S to me, more like a kitted up lower model. Could have been a project of his with engine swap. Really trying to convince myself here  But on a better note, i was playing with an 06 plate Lancer 'Sport' on the M50 last week pulling off from the roundabouts, and am delighted to say it was even stevens!! I was giving mine the beans as was he up to 100 and there was nowt in it.....hurrah! But then i no nothing about Lancer Sports, they could be running a 1.6 for all i know. I would like to think they're running a 2.0 though, ala Scooby Sports.

Nice one! Did the adapters come with all bolts needed mate?
-
YODA....How much can you do the adapters for mate?
-
Somebody you really don't want to get stuck in a lift with.

Had a full service done, a new front engine mount fitted which a got for £33 from Gwent VW via fleabay. £20 to have that fitted. And the best mod i've ever done was painting the inside of the headlights black around the main light and full beam. This looks awesome and gives the front a much meaner look. I saw a pair for sale on ebay which went for to much brass so i did em myself for the price of a touch-up pen, £2.99!!!

Indicators paid for, fitted and lookin' cool! :)
-
Those look bob on Karl! As per our phone conversation, i will send you the monies in the post today. Many thanks, Jonathan.
-
KARL....i pm'd you this afternoon regarding payment for the indicators. Can you ring or txt me on the number i gave you as i will be driving up North in a few mins and wont have access to a computer tonight. Cheers.
-
Awesome! I'm only changing mine as their looking a tad discoloured compared to my fogs and headlamps, so if yours are spangly clean? then you have yourself deal. How do you want paying mate?
-
Now that would be an AWESOME mod!! 8) 8) And why didn't i think of that lol!
-
Mines just a stock valver, and AFAIK is running fine. But i've have never had it checked out as its always pulled cleanly. That Fezza didn't look quite 'right' if you know what i mean? As though it was a look-a-like jobby. Whatever it was it still made me look crap!
-
Hi, and a big welcome to you! Post some piccies up of your valver as it sounds a peach 8)
