I've driven 3 of my previous cars for hundreds of miles with droning wheel bearings without any probs whatsoever. If its just a dull hum/drone then it should be fine for another 400 miles. Sometimes mechanics say to wait until it gets louder anyway so its easier for them to diagnose which bearing is faulty by spinning the wheel by hand. A quiet grumbling bearing wont show up by this method hence why their sometimes left to develop. One of mine has just started to drone ever so quietly, and is more prominent on a left hander. I wont be changing it untill it starts to hum when driving in a straight line or becomes annoying!! Theres no need to change both (left & right) bearings, their not like brake pads/discs. Just replace which ever one is duff matey. Hope this helps ya :)

I could never buy a brand new car. Can't help thinking what you could get for the same money second hand with only a couple of thou or so on the clock. -

New Skoda's are cool IMO. The Mk1 Octy VRS' are really good looking cars with an even better interior. And the Mk2 version looks absolutely awesome, especialy in black. I have a soft spot for the fabby VRS too. The only thing spoiling those is that their a 5dr. Cars that size just don't look right in 5dr guise. But i'm sure they're will be folk here who will disagree with that one just as people disagree with d-6s. Opinions always make for a good bit of 'banter'  -
You've gone and said it now

My grand plan is to purchase a house with a garage so i can bring my S1 RST down from the north to use as my weekend, nice weather, fun car. Then use the C as my daily, improving it as i go as i reckon all the bushes, joints and suspension are past their best. Much squeaking and clunking going on for my liking lol!! I've even got a set of immaculate D90's with mint tyres i've had for 5 months, that i've never got round to sourcing adaptors for so i can fit them  Not a particularly grand 'grand' master plan, but as i'm brassick (as always) i can't see it happening anytime soon!

Thanks for a swift reply oilman. Would it be fair to say that their claims that the additives contained in these longlife oils do what the companies state and "soften" the internal seals of the engine? Or have these oils not yet been thoroughly tested? Cheers.
-
BIGCHAGG What width adaptors did you get in the end? Are the front ones wider than the rears???
-
Quite a comprehensive breakdown there... One question if i may. Are the oils "dsigned" for higher mileage engines such as Valvoline 75,000m+ and the Duckhams version a load of twaddle, or of any benefit? My cars got 125k on it now and i just want to use the best for it in its latter stages of life.

I think she'd be the one doing the mauling with them shovels!!

I to was watching that Grand Prix. Glad somebody mentioned Ratzenburger to. People often forget that 2 people died during that event. It was weird watching the aftermath. I never expected they'd be announcing his death, i didn't seem real.

has anyone got a few pics of a dragon green rado in the day?

Fight, fight!!!! -
Have to agree with the above. My oil seals are slightly worn on my RS Turbo and that puffs smoke out only on start up. To be certain i had it checked at a rolling road tuners to be sure it wasn't the turbo bearings. All was fine with the turbo and the valve stem seals were confirmed as the culprit. The RS doesn't use much (if at all) oil either tbh. L1OOPY is right with the oil seeping into the chambers, i was told exactly that by the tuners.

I got quoted £450-£500 for a full system (excl front pipe) from Kwik-Fit and an independant garage for my 1.8 valver. They aren't cheap exhausts for what they are, but £700+ is a rip off. Go aftermarket stainless for half the price 8)

The wing mrrors look stupid, the wheels look as though they have those fake brake discs people used to fit on their "drummed" Nova's, and the paint looks like a shade of primer. Albeit shiny.

Change the coolant for genuine VW G12 Plus Trent. Everyone recommends the stuff on here and it isn't expensive either. Costs around £6 all in for one and a half litres. Defo worth a try as a poosible cheap fix :)
-
Defo wrote off unfortunately. As said above, get your car back as salvage and sell the parts on to keep lots of other Rado's on the road. One dies but lives on in many others. Think of it as carrying an automotive donar card

Off out now - a ZO6 has just pulled up outside...

What the heck is a Z06?  -
I trimmed mine (roof rails that is) and it looks spot on. Did it in winter and haven't noticed any problems so far. I certainly don't think its worth forking out £70+ without first trimming them to see what they look like.

£881.25p inc the vat (minus the taping option). Anyone know how much new oem ones cost in comparison?
-
Trust me you didn't want to! Almost put me off C's for life!!

VR6 wings are slightly wider than 1.8 valvers but are the same as 2.0 valvers. 1.8 doorcards will be different than the VR too.
-
They neglected to tell me that....then i didn't ask either!! Good advice though.

Just woke up and feel worse than i did before going to sleep, how does that work  SHAWSHANK why did Dubmeister recommend the GB over the D as a matter of interest?
