  1. so what companies do you use. need to get some quotes.
  2. I can understand about the extras like air con and the newer engine with better economy. you dont get much more of a torque spread than a G60 though jay its all opinion but i wouldn't swap a perfectly good vr for a 24v. the vr would have to be on its way out to justify the cost for what, 20 horse? i can see why you swapped the G60 though as its a different shooting match the 24v feels more effortless but unless its 4x4 like some of the others have done i cant see the advantages for the cost. not dissing your project though mate as its one of the best around. luv that dash job.
  3. cant see much point in doing a full swap though if you dont get a power hike for it. a new engine and being different are the only real points i can see.

also switches from on inlet. fuel over run(?) isv maybe yes fit the probe down the exhaust bout 1 m from the turbo. too close itll burn out. no cat = good. not sure what exhaust youhave but go 2.5 or if possible 3 inch straight thru 1 box. thats how to make power but may induce some more noise. if you are on a faily standard pipe you may gain 20 or 30 hp from the exhaust alone.

when you take off you manifold it splits in 2. in the lower section attached to the ports the injectors sit. remove them and some screw in bits are fitted. fit digi ones instead and the manifold is ready to go.

get a full G60 wiring harness for the engine with sensors and the ECU. then the fuel rail and injectors. use a G60 injector harness if you can. same dizzy plug IIRC

if you like as were are close, im in oldham i could meet you some time and let you have a look at some of the bits i have, the msns, fuel rail etc. you could also look at the G60 so you know what sensors we are talking for digi.

you need. blue temp switch, co-pot, o2 probe. throttle switches full and idle. knock sensor speak to bilal or darren. they may have digi 1 parts. also chekc on here for full digi loom sales inlet wise. either make a short runner or buy a rail from bbm or darren or somebody else who does. no need for mk3 inlet. get the inserts for the injectors from vw. buy G60 injecto cups. unscrew the k-jet ones and screw these in. real easy that bit. i got a eurospeed rail but there are loads out there.

you need the ecu and loom. a few sensors and a chip. not too bad an install. a G60 throttle body would help too. in all homnesty ms is a great system but has to be designed to meet the requirement as its not an off the shelf product. when ive done scooby stuff the ecu is usually a replacent for the standard one so is plug and play. ont the case with ms. when im finished i may have a better instruction but it is technical and lots of work has to be done first to understand what you have and therefore what you need. keithmac has been a good help. he seems to know more aobut soldering variious electonics and the reasoning than me. and he has a fully working 16vG60. mines still a bunch of wiring and engine bits.

if yuo look on vortex fort a diagram by midnight gli. that will explian the wiring involved for running spark. you need the ignition module that i think you will have. the G60 has it built in to the ECU so i had to get one. what i can say is i wouldn't do it if you onluy want a little more power. id do digi 1 if you only want say 300hp. 1 bar of boost on a decent turbo runnig digi 1 will do 300. go with 440cc injectors minimum. personnal unless you are changing turbo and ic id go with a sns and maybe the 504cc that i think they use. if you wanna tune yourself then ms is a good option. i plan to run maybe 24-26psi when fully setup so digi 1 is past its best at that. your gonna need. ms of some sought fuel lines rail injectors pressure regulator. throttle body with tps or use mapdot. new sensors (no point using old ones) then dependant on what you want from it. board mods to control isv and support spark

read the megasquirt site mate first, then decide if you still want ms or msns or another variant. you need to know. what injectors etc you are using what you are using for spark and how you are gonna fit it all to the engine. do some research first
  12. Guys. the bugdet will put car tax up to maybe 210 this time. depends on car type. anybody know our fate. also what about the modified ones of us
  13. gives me an idea of the cost for my 16vt. i expected to add a grand to my 400 quid i already pay
  14. id only use a vag pump. i put a new pump on the G60 a while back. i bought it from a gsf type place and im sure it isn't as efficient as the vag one. maybe a different impeller. only a tenner more so go vag.
  15. i heard some are different. i heard the early ones have higher flow. not sure of the truth in it. maybe better having the correct one for k-jet but if using efi any will be better than just the intank.
  16. could try soaking the tappets in oil first before a refit if you wanna try n save a few quid
  17. i thought the vr was tame compared with my G60 for noise. a standard G60 is pretty quiet though. i want a quiet car when not on boost next.
  18. you could always get a short runner or make one. expect to gain at the top with one of those.
  19. if you dont wanna mod it get a VR6 if you do then get a G60 if you wanna mod it and be faster than both the above bang for buck term then get a valve. ultimately the VR will make most power but 16vs have been known to make 700hp with 300-400hp fairly easy to acheive.. G60 or 8v whatever you wanna call it will make around 300-400hp but not with the G60 charger.
  20. its not a stupid question. a turbo pushes a given amount of air at a certain pressure. boost is just restriction of airflow. more boost is more restriction or trying to squeeze a given amount through as smaller gap. when restriction or friction is caused heat is generated. as you will know the denser or colder the charger the more air is packed in so the more power is attainable. you can have 6 psi of hot air or 6 psi of cold air. big differences between the 2. one reason for an intercooler. create a colder charge a big turbo will push larger amouts of airflow at a given boost level than a smaller one. heat is then a factor. a small turbo can only push so much air then it gets hot as it tries to stack or compress air more and more. any given turbo has an efficiency range. it has lag and low flow good flow and overflow effectively. a big or efficient turbo can push more air at a give pressure level. this is down to size, wheel types and bearing types mainly. this in turn means it doesn't get as hot as a smaller unit. tubos are about balance though and a large unit will have more lag and too large a unit will not boost properly at all. some like a small zippy unit with no top end even though they think it has other bigger units that have top end. all i can say is you dont know the power falls off till you have driven a big turbo car.
  21. depends on compression and tuning along with flow and turbo choice. a ported 8v will have maybe upto 4 psi pressure drop due to flow increase. a good 8v at 5psi maybe the same as a std head one at 8 or 9. without the intercooler on 9:1 id expect around 150-170hp using say a td04 from a subaru or a pretty standard t3
  22. does sounfd like a bad earth or power to the probe. are you engine mounts good. if not they cause havoc with G60 02 probe wiring.
  23. that flange is plastic so is a bit bob. replace it and get an new blue swithc too. put a wideband up her and set the fueling when warm to 14.5:1-15:1 at idle. check yer fueling once on the move too. look for 12s on boost. low 12's to be safe. my sns chip is set high on the c0_pot as they seem to run safe rich as standard. think im in the 900ohm area.
  24. think your right mate. was gonna ask the mods soon. when the engine is in ill have it changed if its allowed. still got a list of pricey parts to buy yet. things like shafts and a inner CV joint fore my 02m. i only got 1. props to all those taking on the conversion of 20v though. there is a good bit of work to do it right. and itll cost. you gotta ask yourself how long an 02A will last with touching 300hp on a k04 so if you are doing this conversion or 16v dont leave anything unquestioned.
  25. thanks i know its 240mm but was after opinions on other types and maybe the flywheels used. im planning on a light flywheel but have heard reports of bad chatter. was gonna use a 6 puck nut will probly go for the tdi one like you said. good call.
