an ihi on a BAM will be better. my opinion is that i wouldn't turbo the 8v. yes it works but turbo placement and engine flow limit it somwwhat. id expect the ihi is the limit on size for a 8v whereas a 16v can house almost any practical size of turbo. the 20v is a good engine but ultimately a 16v can be made quicker and more powerful. flow is measured against lift and the 20v cannot handle the lift a 16v can. you can also just bolt up digi 1 so no need for a new injection system just a new chip. danny at sns has a corrado 16vt running 300+ at the wheels on 16psi or so. no more as he's staying in the confines of digi. if i were you iow id look into the valve too. maybe not what you want but.... the big advantage of the 16v is that you are building to a power spec rather than a standard spec then having to mod again. with mine itll be a matter of just turning up the boost. remember to look at the other items needed to tune like wideband and guages. these can be one of the most expensive parts. ive spent about a grand on that type of stuff. i spent around 1200 on turbo, wastegate, injectors, manifold, oil lines, pistons but these are good for 450hp(injector limit) these more but i wont go on as you can get the idea.

best bet is to draw up a list of 16vt bits. ill add anything i can think of if you like. take a 16v and what do you need to do to make it fit for FI and what do you have to bolt to it to make it FI. you can get a turbo setup for 2k i reckon and itll make more power than a k04 or VF'd 20v. the rest is the little bits that cost loads but not 100% necessary like head port, cams, pistons etc

use a standalone ecu, make up the loom yourself and just use the normal clocks and key

here you go bally. the missing triplet

ok here goes. ive been pretty busy of late with various none car and car stuff too so sorry for delay. the manifold is nearly finished or at least the first stage. its a bit of a mismatch but feels better than it looks at the moment. our welding aint to great but it seals. more to come on the engine and tapping in the turbo hopefully in the next week or so. -
yuo could just turbo your 16vs though if you have um instead of using a full 20v motor. would be cheaper for 300+. no k03,k03s or k04 i know of will make 300hp. the 365bhp at 1.56 bar sounds like a vf34 or so. A subaru does the same figures at the same level. looks like the 1.8t is around the same flow and efficiency levels as a EJ20T. any clearence issues between the braking system and the turbo?

3 bolts of IIRC. you loo to be missing the lower one.

bally your car is just like mine too in those pics. a2j boxes are from later cars ie mk4 onwards as stated. 02m is the 6 speed version although theres are some 5 speed 02m boxes too used in TT. anybody ever tried to tune a s1 escort turbo. kjet was bob out of the box. skip it. the pumps however are good for 360lbs/ft so im told. use a G60 one to feed the kjet or 044 bosch pump. What type of issue did you guys have as you installed. where did the main issues lie.

ive seen off many a gti 6 in my G60 so winning isn't reserved for vr's ill have a quid my new 16v will see off the french box too. regarding the mods. i like a standard body with a slight amount of lowering and a wider rim to fatten the stance. i like the bigger lip on the front but not when im going over speedbumps. if i was keeping the car standard i would never have bought a corrado

ive seen imprezas go 350-370hp on 380cc at 3bar static pressure around 90% duty probly the same for 440's at 80% duty the LIME green ones are 440cc. they are standard kit in a m3 i believe.

Guys those of you who are 02m users or have been what clutch and flywheel setup are you using. is it any good, any judder. how much power does it hold for you and does it work well. Thanks in advance

the audi 4wd touring car was setup pro0perly and also light being the ally one. it weight the same or less than the 2wd cars. not really the same comparison where any road 4wd car ive seen is heavier than its 2wd counterpart. 4wd creates grip that aids handling in some instances. i still think you would struggle against a setup subaru as the full car was designed for going a-b fast from day 1. however they dont respond to turning quite as fast and so can end up with the rear end out to catch the slide rather than turn. i have mates who wouldn't do any different after a subaru and mates who would. the other thing for me is transmission loss. yes you can get more hp to sort this issue and higher reves create less loss(apparently) but then you have to male the engine hack it. for reference from the start a 300hp subaru will do me by 3-4 cars to 60. freom 40-120 nothing in it. thats with the 65mm pulley G60. thats transmission loss i think for you.

need to be less dismissive phat as stated there are better systems but id expect many lack the support of ms due to it open source nature. many a yank has good power and running from ms. yes we would all like a motec and the capabilities to individually tune each injector etc but for 95% of us and probably you included ms will do all we need and can envisage. all for 10% of the cost of motec. ill give you my thoughts on it when i map mine. the only downside is if like me you aint too sure about some electronics as mods need to be made for most setups. if i could buy a board swap ecu like the linkECU or Hydra for the scoobies id go for one of those everyday. even if it did cost 4x the amount. id still like to get my hands on a motec though.

im gonna run msns on my 16vt with vw ignition and gm sensors. you need a ignition module if you wanna run spark on a G60 as its part of the ECU but i believe v3 boards have a feature to do away with this. keithmac has been a good source of electronics info for me as im a bit week on the transistor/resistor side of things. thanks mate.
-
im gonna have him though mate as i will be tuning the new 2.4 motor thats going in his car  just tweak some timing out n lower the boost..... :D . he's had custom cam profiles done by piper for it. and that t04r but he's only got 720cc injectors and they will be his limit. better order those 820cc's soon for mine. in all seriousness i want to see how my (hopefully) 400hp+ 2wd does against his 550hp+ subaru. i tihnk itll be close run. a side note: most of the subaru gang are going vag at the moment. 1 s2 and 2 gits. sorry guys back on topic.

i got trans penine roads 5 minutes 1 way and m62 5 minutes the other, cannae lose for clear roads, shame about the state of some of um. its the subaru competition that brings on this job. as h100vw could tell these are not normal scoobies. we think tuned G60's are quick till you drive one of these. we got snap on galore now mate. proper american hotrod styleee. my hands are knackered through sawing and grinding to make the short runner. more work due to our lack off ally welding skills. the -2c and cold, compressed air is pretty nasty
-
see im not gonna hit full boost till around 4600-5000 rpm. itll hold boost till gone 8k. im happy with the bottom end im using. its like new. bored, honed and 83mm wisecos fitted, crank polished etc. im gonna fit p&p for sure, not sure what im gonna have done valve and spring wise. im planning on using it daily to start with but id expect it to be a tad agressive for a daily driver. not too bothered about the low end as the top will more than make up for the shortcomings. im leaving the G60 behind cos it produces too much low down and not enough over 5k
-
we got faith, we own corrados must be said though its a mysterious box. not seen anything of a FACTORY 02A 6 speed anywhere else other than this. cant really see why vw would do it either. id have thought 02m was the way they were going as they do 5 speed 02m in some tts too. not sure about its other applications though.
-
and they will polish it for you
-
thanks guys. that will help me loads. im gonna update my post in the gallery soon. i nearly got my short runner finished and a few other bits too. what are you guys revving your engines to with the cams. have you had any bottom end work done to match? i plan on 7500 from the hydro cams
-
await a reply from flusted but thought id open it up to others in case he is busy or somfink so would a 91 6a be abf or 6a, if you know whjat i mean. can you tell from looking at the engine. take it the ace is the audi abf?
-
i see your point. think we have all had cars with left over alarms and whatnot. second thoughts it may be less work for yourself to put the proper loom in. i didn't envisage a full connector loom. im with you in that case jay not for factory but for own peace of mind and less issues in fixing.
-
depends whether you want factory look or factory. its always nices to have full factory but it cost a hell of a lot more. as long as you are happy with your own work, balls to the next owner
-
no i got the last one from vince today. i mean im lead to believe you have to make mods to the cam to fit it. ie cutting the cam down at the pulley end to fit it. i could be talking gobshite but would like to know from those who have done it. see im in this dylema where i know i have to run new cams in at r 2000+rpm for 20 minutes or so and have also to seat the rings by reving up and allowing the engine to slow itself for a little while before i full thottle map. thats my way anyway and both principle contradict each other so i plan on using standard preused cams for inital start and run-in.
-
spoke to vince. he said he think that 9a are the same but not sure about 6a. im happy at that now. ill go with the closest measured one. any advise on cam cutting, techniques etc
