Corrado OEM style under bonnet soundproofing kit Group Buy
chazrad replied to Hairyarse's topic in Forum Group-Buys
I have exchanged messages with Christian on eBay about the availability of these kits. He reckons he should have some more ready for the middle of April, all being well. He did say he would post up here with more details knowing that UK Corrado owners appear to be crazy for his under bonnet kits. -
As stated, after a set. New or second hand considered. Cash waiting. Thanks Charlie

Corrado OEM style under bonnet soundproofing kit Group Buy
chazrad replied to Hairyarse's topic in Forum Group-Buys
Hmm, typical that I find this too late after having been away from the Forum for a couple of days and not paid attention. So I take it these are now all sold out. If anyone decides to drop out, I would gladly take a late style one for a VR6. Cash waiting. Or else I'll have to contact the bloke direct to see if there are any more being made up. Rgds Charlie -

CCGB Wales Road Trip 10-13 June 2015
chazrad replied to chazrad's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
Calling all CCGB members, I am reinvigorating this thread and not before time! I now want to confirm the details of those who are interested in attending the CCGB Wales Road Trip in June 2015. All information remains the same including the dates. You need to be a CCGB member to be eligible but do not need to either own a Corrado or have to use it for the trip. Your mode of transport is up to you, and some drivers may be happy to have a co-driver anyway. Once I have names of those who are committing, I will ask for deposits for accommodation. Organising the accommodation for a trip like this is the most stressful bit, so I need your support: I am keen to know if any/all of the following are still keen to go: Wendy Duckett Roger Chatfield and whether you will bring a co-driver or are willing to have one in your car. Is anyone else interested in going? There will almost certainly be spare places. Deadline: Deadline for names for this is COP Sunday 15 March. at this point,I will look to book accommodation for the names I have. Thereafter, anyone else will be able to book his or her own accommodation based on information I can supply about where we will stop each evening. Please register all interest in the thread on the CCGB forum. This will be a great trip. Looking forward to hearing from you. -
Hi matey. I am after a set of sun visors in really good condition in black. Complete with the black brackets to for the other end. Thanks. Charlie

Great work Eric. That'll be ace! Can't wait. Never been to RIAT but often spoken of going so this is perfect. Well done. S4, Miles? Tell me more... Good choice.
-
Yes I did but I don't think he's started on it yet though. This was the last I saw of the car last Monday.

Jim, having done all the bits to mine now, it corners on rails. The polybushes, KW V1s and roll bars stiffen it up a treat. I changed the front engine mount recently to a competition mount, and it has removed all the slop in the drive train that I hadn't even realised I was living with. So much tighter and more direct. And because the front subframe is isolated from the chassis by rubber mounts, there is no extra transfer of engine vibration. Win win. With one of Dave's short shifts fitted and having changed to solid billet shift tower bushes, the gearlever is like a rifle bolt too. I'm in love with it again. So much so I don't want to drive it in the rubbish weather because it'll get dirty... And I've already got one car like that... Oh, and re OBD2 smoothness, I am spoilt with OBD2 in both cars, so no difference between the two. I can report though that OBD2 is just that bit smoother than OBD1 which we all know already. And the idle control is better. Neither car has given me any problems in this area so far, so little else to say.

With the Corrado gone, I spent some time on Saturday cleaning the Golf. Snow foamed, washed, clayed and waxed. I love this car with Vento front end. I love the Rado more obviously, but the Golf VR is an excellent daily and a great place to be, especially with Dave's short shift fitted, and a really beautiful Alcantara re-trimmed steering wheel and gearknob. A couple of photos of the car today.

A second for Stoner please. Will reiterate over on the CCGB forum too. But well done, Eric. Great work as always...

CDA sold. Lower strut brace and bulbs still for sale.
-
Louis, I have sent you a PM. Thanks.

I'll see if I can get a pass for this. Will be in the Golf VR though. It's not been RR'd before so am keen to see what it does.

Car stripped ready for respray. All parts bagged up and labelled. Wheels swapped over. Car Collected tomorrow. Away for a few months probably. Still some bits to get. Excited and nervous at the same time....
-
Jim, I reckon these sound like the early type which I have ( with Corrado script on them ). I am assuming you're hanging onto these for yourself. Or are you willing to sell them? I give you good price!! Charlie
-
Wendy. How topical of you to post this. I have just stripped my interior less for the dash ready for my car to be collected and taken to the bodyshop for my respray. I need most bits myself but planned to get most bits from VW Heritage. Interested to note that VW have sunroof seals in stock though. I also need to get the seals that run around the door windows - VW Heritage call them Felt Guide Seals, I think. I wasn't going to bother with the roof strips, in fact I have even thought about having the gutters filled and smoothed, but reckon it's too much work / too expensive. So I'll just reuse the originals, I guess. Re the door strips, I don't fancy shiny aluminium DDI ones to be honest, though good spot, Jim. But not sure what state my originals might be in when they are removed. Might they be reusable? Sean, any idea? Charlie

Happy New Year to you all. Announcing here that details of the next CCGB Wales Road Trip (10-13 June 2015) can be found over on the CorradoClubGB.co.uk website Forum under Club Announcements. Link here: http://www.corradoclubgb.co.uk/ccgb16/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=4&id=7242&Itemid=190#7242 Add your names to the thread on the site. We are after drivers and passengers/navigators. Financial commitment required by end of January so I can get deposits down on accommodation. The Sep 2014 trip was huge fun on some epic roads. This trip should be no different. Charlie

I feel it's worth adding something here. Turbos are great but as identified the 24v engine is quite different to the 12v and I do not think there are many FI bits for a 2.8 24v engine. We all know there are plenty of R32Ts running around now but again it's a different engine and has been a popular choice for turboing over the last 4-5 years. When considering superchargers people tend to think only of the Z charger or Vortech chargers. It's worth thinking in terms of the Rotrex chargers here. I am aware of at least one Rotrex charged 24v 4mo Golf running IRO 450bhp. The Rotrex works much more like a turbo in its delivery and is an impressive piece of kit. It's also self contained in that you do not have to plumb it into the car's oil system as it runs it's own. The oil needs changing every year. To get decent power rewards though, you need to be factoring in an inter cooler, at least forged conrods if not forged pistons, updated clutch and probably a larger bore exhaust system. A race cat to replace the standard restrictive item is also going to help. Finally, the obvious brake and chassis upgrades must not be overlooked. The point is when looking at the 24v engine, it's not automatically a turbo decision. HTH
