  1. Hi there. I am after a set of carpet fixings in black, the large plastics screws that have a mixture of flathead screwdriver slots and a pair or small dimples. Have a black carpet that's going in and do not want to use my beige carpet fixings. let me know if you've got a set and how much. Thanks Charlie
  2. 288mm brake setup from OBD2 Golf VR6 - Fit 5-stud Corrados Chaps, I have a 288mm brake setup for sale that I recently removed from my mk3 Golf VR6 due to an upgrade. They are in great condition. They come with standard rubber hoses so you will want to fit some Hel or Goodridge stainless steel hoses to get the best brake pedal feel from them. But the calipers and carriers are in great condition. Always solid braking from these. I had rubbed them down, kurust'd them then painted them silver about two years ago, and they have stayed in great condition since. I will give them a wipe down then get some photos of them. They come with pads with loads of life left. Anyone who has driven a car with the later brakes knows that they are a marked improvement over the stock 280mm Corrado brakes, so these are a worthwhile upgrade. I have discs for them which you are also welcome to have for the asking price too. Note: Will not post these due to weight. Collection only I am afraid. 3. BeIge Corrado interior - everything but the seats and door cards I have recently swapped all my interior plastics, carpet, headlining and centre tunnel, parcel shelf supports and parcel shelf over to black to contrast with my seats and door cards. So I have a complete beige interior without seats and door cards to sell. Rear parcel shelf supports have decent Alpine speakers attached. Also includes all the beige clips I have. Headlining is in great condition though has some marks on which will come off with gentle sponging. Pillar trims are clean and mint. Door aperture trims and foot rests in great condition. Carpet is in great condition (no holes) but could use a shampoo to be perfect. Centre tunnel is also in excellent condition. Parcel shelf is unmarked and mint. Will try and upload some pics as soon as I can. Thanks for looking. 4. I have read good things about APs, though have not owned or experienced them myself. The reality is that suspension is much like anything else in that you get what you pay for.
  5. Yup, clearly away with the fairies last night. Still, you are right, Ian. It would be worth a look see. I'll check the Pistonheads site to see if there is any mention of it.
  6. We had a family day in Swanage on Sunday, and on the way down and back up along the A350, I saw loads of smart classics clearly making their way to and from this event. Old Healeys, Alfas, a Lister Storm, AC Cobras and a Ferrari F40 to name but a few. I reckon this would be a cracking event to get along to next year.... Charlie
  7. Not sure about the car, but Guy is still around on the fringes of the VW scene. Was good to vatch up with recently when I saw him at Stoner Park with his Karmann Ghia. Still has his R32 turbo though its still not finished. Also runs a Mk1 Cab on air ride. So a few toys to keep him busy...
  8. "Cars i wish i could own especially the bmw 2002." You have immaculate taste. All of those are gorgeous machines including the Capri and RS500. Dream garage stuff... Nice work on the Rado too. Track time is mega fun and even more so in a stripped out 'Rado.
  9. Sean, thanks for the reply. Sadly I am going to have to give these a miss. Unexpected expenditure on boring domestic stuff required instead. GLWS
  10. Hi Sean. These are lovely wheels. Tempted. Can you tell me what offset the wheels are and whether you have suffered any rubbing issues with them. Finally, I can see you run standard VAG brakes but how much clearance do you have behind the wheels and do you think that a set of Brembos would fit behind them. Thanks.
  11. Kev - had heard you can get softer springs for them but I'll see how I get on with the Coilovers as they are for the moment. Yes the brake setup was put together by Bill Brockbank at Badger 5 about 5 years ago now. Still the first set of discs , and I am happy with them even after a few sessions on track over last year and this. I have also got the rear brake upgrade set up (280mm discs) which is frankly unnecessary given how little work the rears do comparatively. But overall the brakes are fine. Forgot to mention that the sump is now baffled to prevent oil starvation on the track. Wasn't sure it wasn't in fact overkill, but better to be safe than sorry. Goldie - re paint shop, not going to anyone you are likely to have heard of. The guy is based at Thruxton near Andover. Seems the perfect type of place to me. No bling or scene, just good old fashioned painting ability. Will see how it goes later this year. Got various bits of trim Nd things to get in the meantime.
  12. That RS4 spec S4 is very similar to my old one - less the colour. Awesome cars. And I love the wheels that S4 is on :)
  13. June Update: Been a while since i last updated this. so thought a quick update was in order: Put the car back on the road in April and it flew through its MOT But in prep for putting it on the track at Castle Combe on 31 May, there were a collection of niggles that I wanted sorting out - things like brakes bled firmer, billet gear linkage bushes fitted, my Aquamist finally connected up and working, EGT probe replaced, a seat squeak sorted, oil and filter change (another one!) and finally my recently acquired KW V3s fitted. Everything was done perfectly, along with a couple of other little jobs, by the Phirm. And it was all finished very late on the eve before the track day. Have to say that I am delighted with the KW V3s. Currently set to middle on both bound and rebound, and am amazed how supple the ride is compared to the V1s. I was never unhappy with the V1s either, but the damping on the V3s seems sublime. I also thought that given how compliant the car is on the road, it would be too soft on the track without firming it up; in fat, it was absolutely fine. The car is sitting quite high at the moment, a good 20mm higher than before, but whilst the car settles on the new suspension, and in order to avoid rubbing on the track it was perfect. Loving the ol' girl at the moment; sadly just not enough time to enjoy her. After the planned CCGB Wales road trip in September, I am planning a respray to bring the exterior up to standard with the rest of the car.
  14. Just checked the web for school holiday dates in England and Wales and you'll be pleased to hear that children go back to school on 3 September. Result!!
  15. Chaps, Good to see this is generating interest (and debate!) here. Delighted its what some of you want to see and be involved with. Can I ask those of you who want to be added to the list to head over to the CCGB site to register interest in the appropriate thread under 'Club Announcements'. That way I have a centralised list of who I need to be dealing with re updates for this. Thanks. Charlie
  16. If you are sure that is the cause of your original knocking when turning the wheel, then great. But you might also want to check the state of the bush holding the steering rack in place. I too had a knocking when turning the wheel from lock to lock recently, and it transpired the whole steering rack was moving on the sub frame. An uprated (Powerflex) bush has sorted it. HTH

  18. Will work with both. Combine this with a nice set of Schrick or Schimmel cams for a really tractable engine..I remember mine fondly too.
  19. A great day out and superb fun. I can see how track days can become addictive and financially crippling)! Great to meet some new and old faces. The VRT was performing beautifully for the most part and sounded pretty good from inside the car. Reckon it was the wastegate that got stuck open after my 8th lap of session 2 which that ended my fun, but no damage to the engine or turbo, so a relatively straightforward (and cheap) fix. As Fay says, time spent with the track instructor is never wasted, and gives so much more confidence allowing greater enjoyment. Fay`s car was looking and sounding great from what I saw watching with others at Quarry. Can't beat the sound of an NA VR6 at full chat with a BMC!!
  20. Just read the last few pages to bring myself back up to speed with your updates I enjoy following the progress with this car, and still love those Comps. If you ever think of selling them, I'd like to be first in line to take them. Quick question: On my THs, I have not fitted the centre caps as, quite frankly, I think they look cheap and nasty. What centre caps are those that you are using, which look much more fetching/appropriate? Also, I do/like those seats. Years ago I drove the moonlight blue VRT that was then owned by Marcus - now owned by Ben I think - which had a set of cream Konigs fitted and they were very comfy. Out of interest what custom seat bases have you fitted, and are they a perfect fit? I am not completely happy with the custom ones holding my Recaro Speeds in place. Rgds Charlie
  21. Hi there, Would be sad to see you leave Corrado ownership after recording such a great refurb. I have only just stumbled upon this thread for the first time, which is a shame given our reg numbers are one digit out (mine is L11 VRG). Would be good to get the cars photo'd together and I am only in Warminster too. Interested also to see what you think the car is worth should you finally decide to sell. If you do, let's hope the car goes to another enthusiast who will cherish it as you have done. Charlie
  22. wheels cleaned, wet, snowfoamed, rinsed, washed, dried, clayed, washed, dried, waxed, glass done, tar remover and autosol on the exhaust, plastics and tyres wiped over then put back in the garage - job done. Spoken to a bodyshop who sound perfect to tackle the respray too. Now to start sourcing window rubbers and other bits of trim....
