Awesome news, one of the most tastefully modded cars on here. Still have a look at the mag feature now and again!

PMSL.. no-nonesence? Always plenty of nonesence at BTCC, just out on the track! However The Plato/Neal incident end of 07 series was just stupendously bad! and who was surprised Neal got a VX seat afterwards... Shame it's just Pauxhall on their own again though! :( Bring Back the days of Super-tourers! Yes but you expect that in the BTCC, rubbin's racin!

Rings would be oil burning which produces a blueish smoke, sounds like fueling to me. Hole in the exhaust could be messing up the lambda, have you had it remapped? maybe it's got a bit too much fueling in the top end.
-
It's this kind of rubbish that stopped me watching the F1 half way through last season, if this is how it's going I'm losing interest with it all already. Thank god the BTCC starts soon for some no nonesense racing!

Those wheels are sweet mate! They look similar to BBS LM's? Any luck with the alternator?
-
Well thinking about it I've never actually been in a G60 so I might take you up on the offer of a lift, if that's ok?
-
Haha, get what you mean mate. I'm getting my quality time in with Amy now as from June I'll be MIA on the VRT! Yeah I'm hoping to be at he AGM, be good to catch up with everyone and have a look round the museum etc. convoy? car share?
-
I trust you'll be refiling with G12++? Looks like its been filled with something other than G11,12,12+ etc so if you are filing with the correct VW stuff then I'd flush the block/rad etc through with a hose before you do as they don't like to be mixed. Looking good though mate, take it you're still off to the AGM on sunday?
-
Surely if it was the alternater completely kaput once it was dead it wouldn't have the power to start again as it wouldn't have been charging? Sounds more like the belt is slipping so it's not charging completely, especially under load. You getting any squealing or strange noises? Might be worth checking the tension on the belt if you can get a hand in there.

Well IN MY OPINION you've got to have some serious nuts to ride anything with less than 250cc. I know everyone has to start somewhere but I'd say if you are wanting to get a bike just do your test and buy something that'll actually do the job to start with, I've found all the 125's and scooters/peds etc that I've ever ridden to be dangerously under powered and under weight. You want something that at least get you out of trouble if needs be, and so you're not bullied on the roads by other traffic and adverse weather (well as much as you can be on a bike). Not saying go and buy a R1 or Fireblade or something but how about a twin pot like a Honda CB250/500, Yamaha YZF250/Fazer 250, Kawasaki ER500/KLX250 etc etc. All four stroke 2 cylinder machines, all under 33bhp so able to be ridden on a restricted licence, and all easy to find/buy/service and have usually had better care taken of them than any putt putt machine. I had an ER-5 that I used to commute 15 miles a day on, any weather and it cost me £1300. Never let me down, plenty quick enough and so easy to ride its untrue. Plus mine did about 65mpg, bargain! Just seems a shame to spend all the money on doing the lessons, test and setting yourself up with kit just to ride something which won't even pull the skin off ya custard! But thats just IMHO.

I must admit that if it was my car I'd be all over the 1.8T conversion. Those 1.8T engines are bullet proof and the QPeng conversion stuff almost makes it a weekend job (ok a long weekend) plus as mrbeige has already pointed out it'll bolt straight onto the current gearbox etc. You can never have too much power!

I'm quite interested, how much would you like for the discs and pads? The braking performance on my VR6 (with greenstuffs) is appauling. Sorry mate, only just seen this reply. I'll dig them out over the weekend and PM you next week about them if that ok? Badger, any luck with the hoses/calipers etc? Those rear mk4's are perfect btw, you might find that because of the slight difference in design from the standard corrado ones you need to slacken off the handbrake cables a little if you can't get them reattached. As I guide I think I paid £65 for my Golf VR goodridge hoses, and about £25 for the goodridge mk2-mk4 conversion hoses for the rears.

gutted mate, but I'm sure someone on here can help. Are you planning to run everything from the Audi (ecu, clocks etc?) I'd offer some assistance myself but I'm not sure what stuff is interchangable between the 3.2 and the 2.8 engines. I'm going to be running a short runner so I'm ultimately (when I finally get started) going to have all my inlet manifold stuff spare. Chin up!
-
Cool vids gents Not a dyno vid but if my VR ever sounds this good I'll be a very happy man! Turn those speakers up! 8)
-
I couldn't possibly comment...... :ignore: Yeah it'll fit in the same position as the standard Corrado one. I wouldn't like to say 100% that it'll work with the Audi ECU so I wouldn't even know what to ask for it (anyone know?). If you're happy to pay postage I'm happy to send it to you and you can see if its what you need. We could sort the monies later, it's sometimes good karma to help get a project going.

Haha, Cheers guys. I think most people would say I'm mad doing an engine swap and turbo at the same time! tbh I hadn't even thought about the R32 possibilities until I'd already got the 2.8 sat waiting to be fitted. I really want to get cracking on it now but I had to keep the missus happy by getting married in May but as soon as I get back off the honeymoon I'll be building up the motor ready to get fitted. Pete - I'm quite lucky in the fact I walk to work and don't need the car on a daily basis, plus I'm going DTA so it'll just (hopefully) be a case of setting up the engine loom and selecting the correct feeds for the clocks etc. but I must admit the only thing that is really worrying me is the electronics...... i'm sure it'll be fine though :confused4: Swiftkid - I've actually got a mk4 DBW pedal that came with my 24v engine that you're welcome try to see if it's any good to you? I'm going standard cable throttle on mine so it's just sat gathering dust.

I've not even started my conversion yet and all this talk of headaches and thinking about selling is starting to worry me a little. I like a world through rose tinted glasses so if someone can post up saying 'Don't worry, it was all straight forward and easy. Do-able in a weekend etc' it'd be much appreciated! Granted I'm not going R32 like you fancy boys, a measly 2.8 24v for me I'm afraid....... with GT35R .......
-
Sorry mate but it's not in my little book of reviews. Hopefully someone else on here knows something about it. :(
-
Nice one, no need to sell him now!
-
I haven't got that particular mag but I do have a book which is basically a collection of road test etc that involve a Corrado so I'll have a look in that later if you like. Might even be able to scan it in.
-
For fcuk sake James, you do realise that with all this outstanding work you're making the rest of us look bad! Hats off as usual.

Unfortunately my grandad passed away on sunday morning so I had to cancel my test ride as I spent the day with my parents. I'm booked in again in 2 weeks so I'll have to let you know how I get on. Good choice on the Speed 4, that is one handsome machine. bcstudent, loving the front room setup! :notworthy:

Sorry mate, been absolutely manic at home (getting married in 7weeks) and not had a chance to keep up to date with this stuff. Right, kit codes for Goodridge hoses you'll need are: Front 288's - SVW0604-6 (pack of 6 hoses - 2 fronts, 2 axle connections, 2 rears) Rear mk4's - SVW0506-2 (just the 2 rear conversion hoses) As far as I'm aware those calipers are 280's and therefore must be from a pre-95 16V, I thought I'd put in my post they need to be from a late mk3 to be 288's??? :? You can tell the difference between the two types of caliper if you look in the pics I posted on the first page. The 280's are bolted to the carriers and move on slider pins set into the carriers, the 288's are more of a floating caliper design and the caliper is attached to the carrier with two un-bolted sliding pins at the rear of the caliper and a securing wire fixing at the front. Couple of guys are selling the correct one's on here at the moment. I got mine off bigpantsbaby and they are perfect, highly recommend asking him if he's got a spare set.
-
Afraid so mate as I don't think you can get to the stat without taking the whole housing off....... gutted :(
-
I've been naughty and booked a test ride on a new Street Triple R this weekend..... :norty: Doubt the missus will let me buy it but should be a good laugh anyway, I'll try to get a load of pics for all you bike fans.
