Thinking of selling up :( what would you buy?
mic_VR replied to The_Dude's topic in General Car Chat
You serious mate? Graham was only commenting how well your car drove when I was talking to him at BVF.... seems a shame to sell up. :( Problem I've found when trying to justify spending £5k on turbo'ing my corrado vs buying something else, is the fact that you're not going to get much of what people would generally consider fast cars for that level of money. You'll get ya usual scooby's, evo's, E30 M3's, M5's, S4's etc but they will all be high miles, ragged to hell and back probably, and you can't help but look a bit of a tw@t driving around in one of them. The other end is that you'll get CupraR's, early S2000's maybe, golf 4motion's etc which are all 'quick' cars but not in the league I suspect you're hoping for. Unfortunately I think to get something both modern and fast you'll be struggling at that budget. Sorry mate. Just my thoughts...... -

Great to see one getting put back on the road rather than broken, hats off to you sir. Hopefully after your first few issues you'll now have a smooth run. Couldn't help but notice that you never fitted those TT comps in the end? -
Very nice mate, how long did it take to come over from burger muncher land?
-
I think all black looks awesome, how many wheels have you had now mate!
-
Bad luck chap, but at least you got to drive the VRT eh? I'm sure Dave and Graham will get it sorted in no time once the parts are in. Hopefully they'll have some idea of what is causing your hot running problems.

(needed again) Anyone got contact details for user "dukest"?
mic_VR replied to Funkster's topic in General Car Chat
How the hell do you find out you can do that?! -
Rado vs Rice : a little test, which do you prefer?
mic_VR replied to The_Dude's topic in General Car Chat
That thing is terrible, and I had no idea how much bigger than a Corrado they are. Nice air-freshener in yours matey! -
I know he's been pretty busy recently with DG Autotech but last time I spoke to him he'd upped the boost and it was predicted to be running circa. 350bhp now but no idea of torque. Still on the open diff so that time is very impressive indeed. That's 997 Turbo times that is!

Ok, water temp sensors are all a push fit into the front of the thermostat housing. You'll need to wait until the car is cold, remove the retaining clip, pullout the old sensor and stuff a rag in the hole to stop losing as much coolant as possible. Note- if the old O-ring doesn't come out attached to the sensor then a little fiddling to get it out may be required. Then put new O-ring on new sensor, remove rag and quickly re-insert new sensor/O-ring combo, replace retaining clip, top up coolant with appropriate mix of G12++ and water. All in it should take about 5 mins, maybe less. Remove the plastic top fan cover to give yourself a bit of extra room. Let us know how you get on.

Actually, thinking about it you need to round your CO2 emissions down to the nearest 5 so yours would be 150g/km which makes it £226 gross per quarter. Don't give those buggers in Westminster anymore than you have to!
-
Yep that looks right.
-
Do you know what the CO2 emissions are?

My 24v "2motion" Corrado - Now with video :)
mic_VR replied to veedubnutz's topic in Members Gallery
Yes indeed. I don't run it that low on the road, it's come up about an inch or so for the timebeing. I'm going to be fabricating a metal belly pan to protect it as it's alloy, or of course I could put a steel sump on it from a VR. Would be interesting to see what the difference is with the 4mo engine as my Mk5 R32's sump actually sits higher than the stock VR one, didn't need any modding of the mounts and bonnet closes perfectly fine  Sump/oil pump are completely different on the 4mo Rob, common trick is the get an oil pump and sump off a R32 and fit that. Plus the R32 one is baffled. Saw this car at DG Autotec whilst Dave and Graham were working on it. Very impressive install indeed and sounds awesome. Good work that man! :salute: -
Well it doesn't say it was stolen, but in Peterborough it wouldn't surprise me!

MOT booking and driving the car - is there a limit?
mic_VR replied to coullstar's topic in General Car Chat
A fair point I grant you but I'd say extremely unlikely as the system isn't that good. If it were there would be hundreds of people without tax or insurance being chased up and down the country by the boys in blue...... and I suspect that isn't the case as the police themselves are the first to say how many people are out there uninsured or untaxed. To be honest the safest thing would be to trailer it if it has to get to PSI. You sure they can't tell someone up your way what they need to do to get it running right? -

mic_VR replied to coullstar's topic in General Car Chat
Not sure on the distance front but I'd say if you were unlucky enough to get stopped you might be able to convince them because of the specialist nature of the work required the distance you need to travel is required. On the Tax situation, I'd take everything else you need to do it and get the tax at a post office near PSI as soon as the MOT is done. I'd say the same as the distance, if you have all your documents and can prove it's booked in and you're being genuine with the police then hopefully they'll see sense. Other thing I'd consider is the fact you won't be covered from an insurance point of view as your policy will almost certainly need you to have a valid MOT certificate. Not sure what the police will do about this, if they were being really funny they could claim you were driving without insurance, but I'd be more worried about if you did unfortunately have an accident you'd have no comeback. The whole thing is a risk I guess, depends whether you're happy to take it or not? :? -
I'll second Toms sentiments exactly, that car is simply stunning. If my car is even remotely near being as accomplished as Daves I'll be an extremely happy man indeed! Top work that man. :salute:
-
I sympathise with you mate, Amy and I once made the mistake of trying to take my niece on a day out in the corrado and my brother uses some kind of all in one buggy/cot/chair system and in the end we had to fold down half the rear seat to fit it all in. Safe it is, compact it isn't! :?
-
 Top work that man!
-
Well all those things are reasonably straight forward to fix. Rear bearing races need to be pressed in so that can be a very tricky job. One thing I would say is buy your bearings from VW, GSF ones are cr@p and you'll be doing the same job next year.
-
Must admit mate, not really much to my liking..... but then it's not my car! Nice flange you've got there

389.6bhp
-
Damn it! My mum said she wasn't going to do that anymore! :(
-
Not sure I need to convince anyone, I believe my handsomeness is merely undeniable fact! :dorky:
-
You're just jealous that not only have I got a manly car but I'm also incredibly handsome!
