Stealth Racing VR6 Turbo Kit discussion
jamminvr6storm replied to Vince@Stealth's topic in Engine Bay
Ive just read through this thread and that kit looks very well thought out - nice one Vince I think there there will be lots of VRT's on the road soon LOL... I certainly agree with that statement Shaun -
Holy smokes! That's enormous! Nah... this is an enormous turbo Might need a bit of bulkhead modification tho
-
Yep, 4 pots are better the single piston calipers all day long!
-
Im not sure exactly what models but I believe the TT also used 312's, try this thread fella... viewtopic.php?f=23&t=28626&hilit=312+brakes

Early next year mate.
-
Yep, I went for the GT3076, same as you have. I chose that for the quicker spool over the GT35. Thats what I did when I had the charger, its worth noting that the calipers you have for 288's will also take a 312's with different carriers.

Its coming along well thanks Shaun, just slowly  Its taken me a year to build it so far! All the mechanicals are finally done and at the moment I am making up a new loom for the Emerald ECU. I have taken my time with it and built it all properly, forged oversize pistons (3.0l), forged rods, big valve head, cams, 3" exhaust, wavetrak LSD, 02J shift tower, bigger rad etc.... There will be a full build thread at some point soon with lots of pics, watch this space!
-
I had the 288 mk4 set up when mine had the V9 charger (300hp) and they were ok. Have you got 288's or 312's?

Take it off the servo vac pipe, easiest place is the inlet manifold. There is a black vacuum pipe that comes off the inlet and goes into the one way valve and *should* have a couple of take off's that currently just have plastic caps over them. Pull off one of the caps and connect to the spout... hey presto. > Oh and the hole on the charger to TB pipe, if the hole is taped use a bolt or alike. Remember this will be under boost pressure so make sure its a good tight seal.

Cheers Kev :D A specific tool... not that I have or know about and as for a technique, its 2 tiny flat head screwdrivers (like the little electrical jobbies) and a lot of patience!

Neuspeed fan switch and low temp thermostat
jamminvr6storm replied to MonkeyVR6's topic in Engine Bay
I have the lower temp switch installed in mine and I also have this thermostat... http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/product.ph ... 89&xSec=86 They work absolutely fine, some people said this would cause the car to run on the cold map for longer but it hasnt on mine. Lowered the temps lovely and no adverse effects! -
Bad Salesman & Bad Buyer Thread
jamminvr6storm replied to VR6's topic in Site Comments and Questions
Thats fair enough swiftkid, but pete didnt stick to his word with me... the same as he didnt stick to his word when he said ''I'll take the bearings 100%'' I have always thought Pete was a decent guy... I just feel let down by this. And I definately agree that Pete is not as bad as some sellers out there, its not as if he took my money and dissapeared or sold me something that was dodgy. -
Bad Salesman & Bad Buyer Thread
jamminvr6storm replied to VR6's topic in Site Comments and Questions
Pete, you said you would sell them for 700, we even discussed delivery! Yes, I asked if a set of wheel bearing's would fit my car (forgive me for not just purchasing something that might not fit my car!!) and before I got an answer you jumped in and said you'd have them.... ...Now correct me if im wrong here but you didnt even buy the damn bearings! The seller still has them ^^ That was from your for sale thread! Why is it cheeky to make an offer? Where does it say no offers in your thread?? No, but I can blame you for not contacting me to say ''someone has offered me the full asking price but as we were in the process of arranging delivery (which we were I was just waiting for you to tell me the weight of them!) I am letting you know that I am going to sell them elsewhere unless you match the offer'' Pete, you live 4 hours away from me I can hardly just ''come to your place and collect'' if this was possible we wouldnt be here now! I do not think it unreasonable to ask for a picture when spending £700 or more from someone who is located on the other side of the country. Oh you can talk... as above you didnt buy those bearings and you can see from the PM thread (and your for sale thread) that you were going to get back to me on monday so I could arrange delivery and all I get is a PM on wednesday saying you have sold them elsewhere... I think you should take you own advice and stop fannying other people around! Re-pay you... ?? Pete, if you remember you asked me a while ago if I wanted anything else from your car (when you beat me to the bearings) and I told you then I didnt want anything else! hey again, afraid not on the tar-ox's - sorry! (having spoken to a few people who seem to know what they're on about, personally i would just stick with the four pots - they are just as good and less likely to have maintenance issues than 6-pots...) as for the 280 rears, it seems that g-werks are being royally messed aorund by the states, which consequently means that we are being messed around. the actual groupbuy from g-werks is now no longer going ahead. i am however trying to source some 280 kits from a different source as we speak. there's nothing confirmed and i don't know how successful it's going to be yet, but i'll update everyone as soon as i know anything. naturally i'll bear you in mind for any potential new offers :) cheers again :) Pete As above you are 4 hours away Pete!! I would have ACTUALLY TURNED UP AND BOUGHT THEM if you were closer. If you are such a sticker for forum rules why havent you updated your for sale thread to reflect the fact you have sold the suspension?? It seems you use the rules when it suits you.. If im honest you have been a decent guy, my biggest problem is that you didnt even have the courtesy to gat back to me (either to say someone had offered you more then me or when you said you would... on monday!) Nothing but words... isnt that the point of forums???? What else have you given? If your referring to a build thread then for your information im in the middle of my engine conversion... taking pics as I go along... for this forum! I have met many people on here and they will vouch for me, I have been to meets and even put my car on a corrado forum stand... what else do you want! I arranged a price and was waiting for you to give me the weight of the suspension so I could arrange a courier to pick them up... I was hardly messing you about! I only needed the weight because YOU wanted me to arrange a courier myself! You didnt keep to your word as I got no PM from you like you said you would! You would have had to take them off and clean them before sale and its hardly an effort to provide a bloody photo! In fact you said yourself that the rears were already off... you could have just photo'd them and I would have sent you the cash by now! I have a good reputation on this forum and the only disputes I have been part of are when you were involved with the sale! -
Bad Salesman & Bad Buyer Thread
jamminvr6storm replied to VR6's topic in Site Comments and Questions
Pete Griff - Sorry fella but we agreed a sale and all I asked for was a picture, not a lot to ask when im spending over £700 with someone who lives on the other side of the country from me! We agreed you would send me a pic when you took the bits off the car (which you have to do whoever you sold them to) I arranged for the cash to be ready and was waiting to hear from you when I get a PM saying you have sold the stuff to someone else! And before you reply saying someone offered you more money for them, it would at least be common courtesy to offer them to me for the same price that someone else has offered! Waste of time and effort... Thanks! -
Im also sorry to hear this Karl, its a real shame as I was looking forward to hearing your feedback on the whole R32 vs charged 12v subject! ^^This is a very good point, are you sure there is no possible revival of the R32 route? I say this because I toatally agree with Shaun regarding a 12v VRT, I am currently building mine with forged internals and its been off the road for about 8 months!! A couple of times I have come close to pulling all my hair out!! Its also worth noting that with the pound so weak against the dollar it is very expensive to start a VRT project atm, especially if you plan on using Schimmel or ATP stuff. Best of luck to you either way mate :D
-
Well done on the mag feature Shaun mate... I have said this before and Im saying it again, this car is absolutely stunning! :salute: Same as mine on the VR - Used a TT fore-aft shift lever (5spd box still...) Yep, im doing this mod too... (Thanks for your help Gary) I have a MK4 02J shift tower, R32 gearstick and cables with the TT lever

Anyone run a Bosch 044 fuel pump? updated
jamminvr6storm replied to CorradoVR6-Turbo's topic in Engine Bay
Im glad you are getting somewhere with this mate, I will be watching progress. With mine I have gone for the standard intank pump supplying a 1.5l swirl pot and an external walbro 255 feeding the engine from that via an FSE inline filter. -

Shaun does on his VRT mate. IIRC... You still having problems? -
Cheers Dave :salute:

Am I too late to jump in on this Dave? 6.5" / 11" if im not...
-
Yep, its brand new too! I am considering the charge cooler :D
-
Yeah, Stormcharged is using one on his VRT. I went for the ATP manifold too, its a very tight fit with the master cylinder and reservior. They get relocated though?[/quote:2vkbpp3a] Stormcharged relocated the reservior on his install and I think Pianowire will be relocating the reservior when he changes to the ATP manifold. I will see what the final clearance is like before I make a final decision on mine.
