Ha - yes definitely liked that photo! Geoff is looking a little sorry for himself up on stands at the moment! Ah yes i suppose it has only been a week!
-
Excellent issue Jim! - had to look twice at the picture in the report for the coventry festival of motoring. 'Thats my car' I shouted out loud to no-one in particular (well one of my wheels and a front wing!) Has there been any interest on the job for the editor?

L Reg VR6 in Coventry (Binley road area) I was in the passat :( so didn't wave but did let you go in front of me!

haha i'm not sure why, but i had benny hill music playing in my head as I read that scene! :cuckoo: I think i imagined the old owner chasing the new owner! It would be interesting to see what the original owners were like though!

Well... it's off the road a bit earlier then expected. but there is a fair old list of stuff that needs to be done. It became apparent that my rear brakes were screwed this week,so this means either a rebuild or doing the MK4 Golf conversion. Handbrake cables need looking at (well just one, for some reason only one was changed previously) New Rear Beam (just need to get my hands on one) Hopefully this will sort out the steering. New Thermo timer switch being fitted for the Cold Start, New Power Steering pump being fitted. Last chance saloon, if this doesn't fix the lack of power steering it will mean a new rack  Aswell as all the belts are being changed! Needless to say i'm going to have to be very nice to the other half as he is doing all the work and doesn't enjoy working on it. Sad times I'm without a car for a while and it feels like it will be a while before it's back to full health.

Paid by Paypal and PM'd Thanks for organising this Jake :salute: Laura

Agreed the goal posts always change. I think the groupings need to reassessed. Come on 1.8 16v in a group 17. Yes in the day they were the dogs doodahs but its not like they are the fastest car in the world. I hate insurance - but maybe thats because I worked in insurance for a while. A Rip off product for when it comes to the crunch usually can't help you the way you need them to. Rant over!

My aim was under £500 for my valver, Just managed it with Brent Acre £480, (24 years old 5 Years NCB) hopefully my renewal will be lower as i've hit the magic 25 years old. So if it doesn't go down at least it's lower excesses! Insurance is a pain. Other half always seems to get good prices £700 for a 200SX with mods declared (only 23 at the time with 4 yrs ncb) - He's with Sky. I would say go with the non main stream insurance companies and you should get a good price, but saying that have you tried bell, they are good for the fact you can cut stuff out of the policy that you don't need. Are you getting quotes for TPFT or Fully comp??

Can I have a set of 2 aswell. :) Cheers Laura

Velcro - didn't think of that! you've not had them stolen? lol

Hi Got some legal pressed plates for Christmas from Dubmeister. Back one has stuck on fine with numberplate tape (double sided foam tape). But the front one just won't stick because of the curve. Anyone encountered this and worked a way around it. Don't really want to have it to drill unless its the only option! I've now got a pressed plate on the back and normal on the front at the moment - looks a bit silly. Thanks Laura

There is a guy on ebay selling leather seats out of a G60, he's been given over £4000 for his corrado under the scrappage scheme apparently. More money then he would probably get for it if he sold it on the open market. But still it's a crying shame!! :(

I know what you mean mate. I get one mate at work whos calls it a rust bucket or shed etc - guess what, he drives one of those bright green fester :epicfail: So he's no room to talk. I've found people who take the pish out of it Corrados, generally dont know much about them. I'm yet to meet someone who knows about them and doesnt know what it is. I get very defensive when someone takes mick out of my car  a bit :camp: i know, as you could say its 'just a car' But to me its not 'just a car' i'm like that about my car aswell. You can't diss the car! No-one bothers much anymore, but they were surprised when I turned up to work in it during the snow 'oh you made it in then!' Cheeky gits! I did mention that 'Geoff' is 20 yrs this month, someone said i Should make a birthday cake for him - mainly so my team could eat the cake i think  But as you've all said - the cars just put a smile on your face!! I am lucky that as I work with a lot of engineers they are all quite helpful if I need answers about - it's like my own technical helpdesk :) but i do get the whole you could get £2k for that shed from one of the engineers and thats not red it's pink! :(

Valver for the girlfriend's first car - opinions please...
lauraJ replied to pete_griff's topic in General Car Chat
Hang on have you asked what your girlfriend actually wants to drive?? Surely if she doesn't want a corrado she's not going to enjoy driving the car and like the car for what it is! I don't agree with the corrado being difficult to park though! I find our passat more difficult to park but thats another topic  Also wouldn't insurance be fairly expensive for her on a corrado as a new driver? I mirror other peoples comments - get your gf a shite box car for the 1st year of driving - something that you wouldn't care if it gets scraped, dinged etc. Then get her a nice car once she's got a few yrs NCB. my 2p  -
ha well when you put it like that Jim it sounds like childs play! I think the plan is to make sure we have 2 working cars before Ross starts the rear beam. At the moment the Garage is full due to the 200SX. I'll let you know how it goes Kip, i'm surprised you haven't done one before?! And as you said, IT will get better!! :)

Went for alignment today as if you went to steer straight you have to have the steering wheel at an angle. So took it to A-Line Alignment in Dudley (would really recommend this place if you are in the area!) and unfortunately even though the front is spot on. The rear is f***ed, needs a new rear beam! After my initial response of ahhh :censored: , it doesn't surprise me as the first job that Ross had to do was replace the rear stub axle on the drivers side. So it must have taken a good whack to that side at some point! So thats another thing to add onto the list  So my questions are- how big of a job is changing the rear beam? and what prices am I looking at for the part? Can I use a rear beam of a MK2 Golf/Jetta etc or is it not the same part? Answers on a postcode please! lol So now the aim is to get the rear beam sorted, then finally sort the power steering out.

Glad I'm not the only one in this position. Had to get a lift to work :mad2: Hopefully it will be thawed out once I get home - more xmas pressies to get! If it isn't thawed is it best to just get some hot water on the rear brakes? tired going forwards and backwards on my drive for about 15 mins but it just wasn't freeing up! :(

What size Xmas tree can you fit in a Corrado?
lauraJ replied to Bullfinch's topic in General Car Chat
Managed to get a 42" plasma tv in the Corrado yesterday  didn't think it was going to happen at one point though! -
Well got my driving licence feb 2004: B reg 1.0 Mitsubishi Colt (only cost £70 bargain) E reg 1.0 Daihatsu charade then upgraded to ( ) ----> G Reg 1.3 Daihatsu Charade - loved this car sad I know but was cheap to run in my student days and survived 6 break ins! But getting parts was a nightmare - they had to shipped over from Japan :cuckoo: R reg Rover 214 :gag: hated it but was a quick purchase on xmas eve 2007 after the daihatsu died this lasted a whole 6 months before the head gasket went (mileage 79890 - other half said when we bought it that the head gasket would go at 80k haha) K reg 1.3 Polo (Genesis) loved this car also was affectionately know as Phil! G Reg 1.8 16v Corrado - Surprise present from the other half!!! Owned it since April this year - had issues but then who hasn't?! will never get rid of it unless it's for another Corrado! Also had the pleasure (or not in some cases) driving my other halfs cars 2 Volvo 480 turbos - Cheese wedge but theres something about them P Reg Honda Prelude Auto (import) - Pimp red interior :norty: Rubbish 306 diesel Nissan 200SX 14A - currently off the road due to Ross deciding it needed bigger brakes :| S reg passat - daily hack He has had other less inspring cars but can't be bothered to list them all Looking back at my cars I feel a bit embarrassed about the about of rubbish on there but when i was younger it was about cheapness!! lol

Ok so i thought I'd put up the results from the Rolling Road Yesterday. 146.7bhp/6254rpm at the flywheel 127.9 lb ft/5644rpm torque Obv the figures looked meagre against the vr6's and G60's but I was happy with them and the engine didn't go bang which was nice  Only bad thing, the fan belt has slackened off after being on the rollers (so i'm sorry for the awful squeaking noise as I pulled out of the car park at Stealth - ) Was good to meet everyone at the RR day also!

New series of TOP GEAR Sundays. Series Comments
lauraJ replied to The_Dude's topic in General Car Chat
Snap - everytime they went onto another model and I was saying Lancia Delta. Absolutley love them!! Theres just something about them (bit like the corrado really!) -
Geoff is running great - so far so good! Just a few more things to sort. But I love the fact that i'm driving a nearly 20 year old car as a daily and it sounds so much healthier than most of work colleagues cars (also it's a better looking car  ) Off to the rolling road tomorrow at stealth :cuckoo: to see what he's got (or how much he has lost?!) I think i'm going to be the only 1.8 16v so it might be a bit embarrassing! not too sure about the full details of the fuel saver - all i know is it can't be doing that good of a job as i'm not getting amazing fuel economy! lol Although it's much much better after the work that was done :) Out of interest did you paint the wheels black?
