hey josh good points, i really want to install something like my dad has in his new nissan xtrail, i'm certain it'd be possible, its wired into the head unit so comes out all the speakers, i think i saw a similar unit in a new mk5 golf or passat recently, then it doesnt look like it can be stolen!! then again it'll probably be easier to get one of those sat nav head units with the flip out screen :cuckoo: i dont know... why am i on this talkign about the theoretical instal of stanav at 1.20am... we'll see :D

I've ran 15, 16 and 17" wheels on the corrado and with the drop i wanted and the look of sitting right in the wheelarch i found 15's too low, as were 16's tbh for a daily and i switched to very light weight 17's - similar to the weight of the original speedlines! with the right tire and offset and the handling is good, ride firm but you can fit big brakes behind them and get over bumps if needed
-
not sure but i think the sight of loads of corrados pulling up, lamping the driver and making off with the proceeds may not go unnoticed!
-
been thinking about this for a while, i used to work with a bloke who 'borrowed' a full dvd driven oem (not vag) sat nav set up from the workshop and set it it up to run in a golf, and another who created a fiberglass'd surround when the top vents in his corsa c were and had a head unit driven one.... so it can be done really want a premenant sat nav set up in there so if anyone has i'd love to see it as well!

:( i was really hoping not... new discs and bearings were fitted and test driven in the mornign, i picked up on my way home and 3 miles down the road this happened, maybe 10-15 miles did this! The cause of this is still in dispute hence i do not want to make public any names yet :censored: suffice to say i am not happy having parted with my hard earned for what was meant to be getting them to sort it as the old discs were shagged and i didnt have the time to fit new ones before mot i dont understand what you mean when you say the rings at the back, can you explain please? -

 erm the golf has been in pieces for 2 years and i'm still finishing slowly rebuilding it... the passat was got 2 weeks ago for work cos got a new job where i will now be covering 30k miles a year and didnt fanc ruining the corrdo to get to work and back... C was used daily for the past 18months but now have turned gay! - and have an unhealthy overdraft! cheers for the offer though man, judging by the rusted bolts for the stub axle i wanna try and remove it! i'll take a pic now of the puller i was trying to use, unfortunately there doesnt seem to be enough lip left to remove the remains, the underside is smashed and the lip is broken off, but helpfully the main collar is still stuck fast :( -
After much hassle, the car away for 2 weeks i picked up my car from a local garage (at this moment the garage will remain nameless so if anyone does know can you refrain from mentioning or hinting at their name or location please  ) I got 3 miles down the road and the rear left hand bearing shattered flat spotting to the coards a tire in the process as i had to move the vehicle to a safe off road position. Basically there seems to have been problems when fitting the bearings and i am now in the position where i have had to strip the rear discs off and when i fit a new bearing to these at the end of the week i will need to fit them back on again... but i am left with this.... part of the inner bearing has seeminlgy seized to the stub axle :( i have tried using a puller this evening centred on the end of the shaft with the arms gripping behind whats left of the bearing but there is not enough of the lip remaining to pull against... can anyone suggest a way of removing it please as i really want to get the car back on the road again

list before edition this year... Fit my polished intake manifold Fit my new seats Strip rear seats and panel out (maybe) Finish building new wheels fully shampoo the carpets and clean the interior inc headling Re tumble boot lock Various Chrome /polished parts and the list goes on! o and get it MOT'd!

Not a fan then! :) You might not be saying that if I put up some piccies... Anyway I like them cos I like the underdog. Golfs are too obvious. And the Jetta actually has better handling. So there! i thought that was a fair price  nah i like the jettas actually, better looking car than the hatch 8)

How much was the Golf going for? Makes me wonder what my Jetta GTi is worth. Mint condition Tornado Red, late 1991 with FSH. Not that I'm selling it but I haven't taken any notice of the Mk2 market for a good while. i'll give you 30p and a packet of quavers

if your able to do that what about a certain mods low mileage vr in the IOM needing a new engine and KADVR''s stealth rebuilt engine? all in around the 2k mark for fully working low mileage VR6!! 8)

fair enough, traffic kills the economy! if i ever went through the local town on the way home rather than around then i could guarantee high teens/low 20's when creapign aroudn in the ques... worth it for the voise when you pull away at the lights with the window open... love the noise of the vr!! :D
-
Really? i used to have a 15 min journey to work and i'd get about 25mpg... pah its about the same... bad  forgot to say hello! welcome and i hope that didnt put you off! i bought a very cheap passat estate for the commute and get between 55 and 60 mpg which is as said above double the economy of a vr :D and is big enough for taxing aroudn friends and carrying various car parts or large loads like snowboards and mountatin bikes that you cant fit in a corrado!
-
hello mate, i used to try and squeeze 3-400 hundred miles out of a tank with the VR as a daily, its standard apart from a bmc filter and stainless exhaust and this if i was lucky would come in at high 20's, my journey involved a few a roads, and about half on the m1 which came in at 300 miles a week + weekend driving, when the price of fuel hit £85 a tank then i decided i needed a diesel... just as well as the corrado's needed all sorts doign to it recently :( so in a vr, driving carfully you'll be looking at £80 a week... o and they're ins group 18! but fun 8)
-
i know but i never do things simpley! i'm gonna look at modding those frames again to see if i can bolt the seat further back and down... at least then if anyone else has to drive it they'll be able to reach the pedals!
-
well having taken about 40 years to sort this out i finally trial fitted the 'butchered' seat frames witht the new 1 piece seats attached.... this would have been an awesome solution if i wasnt 6'5"... which i am... even fully dropped in height and all the way back the seats sit to high and to far forwards... So this threads now changed to... "Who's fitted fixed position buckets to their C" thread, I'm hoping tall paul'll see this and post some pics of his stripped interior so i can see where to bolt/weld the fixing brackets to on the floor... it seems to get enough leg room and head room i'll be positioning these in the rear footwell! heres a sneaky peak of the seats to come 8)

as said above, halfords tools, as snap on, are guaranteed for life and snap on tools do break frequently when used daily, one of my best mates dads has been a mechanic for over 40 years and has 3 roller cabs worth of snap on tools, i've heard various stories of tools snapping during race meetings or by the side of the road so for the price difference its halfords every time for me... o and if you work in the trade or automotive industry or know someone who does, get a trade card as it makes loads of things miles cheaper!

the corrado forum stickers i cave atm from philk last year are the outside etched glass and they survived being driven 400miles a week for a year and exposed to all elements so outside ones arent bad :D
-
on the subject of leaking fuel, when my C was hoiked up on a 4 post lift last week i saw that fuel was leaking from the top of my tank as it had a damp patch from the top downwards and around in the middle (as if it were a present and you put ribbon round it! :camp: lol) is this a normal leak, as i'm a bit concerned and as the C is off the road atm it might be a good time to try and fix it!!
-
did an endo in the corrado.... forgot you can only raise the rear so much when its lowered... think i need to make this look permentant though  8)
-
well i'm not sure tbh, i thought it had to be a rough surface but i'll be taking my wheels to Spectrum Enamellers Ltd in bedford as they are known as the place round here to get any powder coating done, so give them a buzz and i'm sure they'll be able to advise! 01234 349693

You'd be suprised, it's the same car really - just bigger and more relaible, yep my passat is parked on the road dirty from all the drving its done recently and the corrado is parked with its nose down arse up missing its rear brakes/bearings/callipers... hmmm passat ftw!
