Just spotted this on the topgear news section, a little more infor on the forthcoming rs6, my dream car if i ever won the lottery or found a bag of unmarked bills under a train seat  http://www.topgear.com/content/news/stories/2193/ It seems that audi are now offering 20" wheels as an option.... wheels seem to be growing at an alarming rate, in the 70's it seemed 13's were the norm, 90's 15's, early 00's 17-18 any bets on how long till vw puts 20's on a golf gti? probably not long! so no more funky designs we can fit on the corrado :(

Corrado is 'Shed of the Week' on pistonheads

tbh the guy sellign this was having a giggle if he wanted a grand fro an mot failre the comments seem fair considdering, i certainly would go near a 180k 1.8 valver mot failure with no tax and issues for £1000  -
pah i just read through this and i may not have been driving long but it always seems the same, even at 3am on the m1 you get a stream of cars travelling in the middle lane, i'm gonna get myself in trouble soon cos when a stereotypical bmw rep driver (i like the cars but the motorway manners of their drivers are shite) pulls out on me i will put all my lights on hold my horn down and let him know just how much of a cnut he really is, a bit of enthusiastic driving usually ensues cos i imagine they say to themself (through their surgically implanted bluetooth headset obviously  ) 'what is that old vw doing in the bmw lane? i will show him what a real car is' thats when i love my vr... havent met a bmw yet thats willing to go faster than i will - hence i will probably get in trouble soon! saying that those new diesels are impressively fast so i think i need more power 8)

ok i'll conceed that looks a bit gash! but at least it shows your not takign the car to sseriously
-
erm if its still pulling then they havent done the job properly, when i was having mine laser i asked the guy how much play is actually in the pads on the wheels, there's a hell of a lot so it seems to come down to the ability of the operator, go back kick up a fuss and demand they sort it out, tell them its brand new suspension and presuming the tires are of even wear and pressure it shoudl drive straight, o and i know this doesnt help you but where the hell did you get it done as it seems very pricey!
-
that looks brill andi, nice colour! the interior looks like a really comfy living room 8) i heard so many people at e38 saying 'i bought it to keep standard but...' theres not much hope spending time with us lot! i look forward to seeing it in the flesh! forgive my ignorance but is that the daddy of all passats then? cos i seem to remember the top passat b5.5 costing somewhere upwards of 30k, ooo imagine if you'd bought it new!

well done with the wheels, i had some on my first ever golf, quality lil car, reminds me of good times  make sure you respray them the brightest silver you can as i used halfords wheel paint first and they always looked a lil dark, used a brighter silver and they looked super fresh! I still think you should try the starsky and hutch white stripe down the side... contrast well with the newly shiney paint!... maybe try a photo chop and put it to the the vote :D
-
I may be wrong but i'm pretty sure its illegal to do this so its probably not the best to advertise expertise on a public forum! maybe keep searching google if you want to do it yourself or like said above the milage correction services should be able to help... i'd imagine there must be a computer program written to do this?
-
erm best bet, if you can might be to unbolt you seats and compare the subframes, if its an easy cut/bend/drill to allow the merc ones to fit in place then give it a go, if not i'd say take the merc frames off, measure the C's ones accurately and ask hopefully you have a friend or your friend knowes a friend ywhos a welder/fabricator and they should easily be able to make them fit into the same mountings.... thats just the fronts though, not sure about putting rear seats in as the C's just pop out
-
Lie it man! good choice 8)
-
erm when i ordered mine the weitecs only had a corrado option i thought? might be wrong, but either way i got the hicon gt's from g werks with the new top mounts, thoroughly recomend the kit and the service 8)
-
erm should saving money and charging you engine come in the same breath... if i were you dude wait and do it properly, otherwise your throwing money at a non ideal solution that you'll eventually need to spend money on anyway!
-
erm i run 36psi front and 32 rear in 215 40 16's, not sure if that helps though!
-
yep get the wheels laser aligned by someone who you can trust knows what they are doing, when done right you shouldnt have a problem, mines relitively low and wearing evenly, as have all the cars i've ran at this sort of height, providing its set up right you shouldnt scrub on the inside edge

if you know of a friend with a halfords trade card, the 5.1 goes from £10 down to £2.90 so it makes flushing the system out a very cheap if time consuming process, where abouts are you based?

if anyones doubting the fun of the tsi just pop down and test drive a golf gt, 170bhp out of a 1.4's pretty impressive and feels like a fun little engine, the normal one badged tsi only has 140 i think though so make sure you try the right one!

went to a garage on saturday and spoke to one of the lads who appeared to have big brakes on the back of his ibiza cupra r, he said he used standard TT rear callipers and discs, carriers of an s4 i think and had to machine the hub slightly but then it all fitted snuggly, i'm gonna go back there next week to get proper details, but providing its a similar size track to the corrado i'd imagine itd work? after fitting bigger fronts my rears are just embarrasing! although he did say he didnt notice any improvement really, they just look bettter :(
-
exactly the same as mine, a Dino :D mines 300mm and i love it, makes me think i'm driving a go kart! although i cant see my instruments clearly :(
-
wow a handbrake that works for a change, have you tried driving forwards and forcing it to drag... if you by chance have an old set of wheels and tires it might be better to fit them that flat spotting your normal ones, apart from that undo the calliper and cappier and massage with a hammer until free of the disk, take the calliper off and clean it up a bit and try reinstalling it, worked for me last week!
-
looks like a fun filled weekend, well done lads!
-
you reckon? it looks like the overall shape, front grille, even the wingmirrors look very similar o and i just thought i'd share a bit of info on the beasty i found out last week from a contact at vw, apparently its going to have a 1.6tsi motor with somewhere in the region of 230bhp and is due out August 08
-
hang on i thought it wasnt for sale any more? o well does that mean a sleek wedge shaped vw will be replacing it then :)
-
ha ha i wish, it takes a bit longer than just a wipe round wipe some emery cloth for the vw ones to fit, i'd imagine its the same with the gsf ones, you have to go at it for quite a while with emery cloth and i also did it to the sensor housing then made sure everything was lube'd up and slid it in
-
i went for black... keep it subtle :D

i recently dd the 312 conversion and ordered the wrong banjo bolts for the TT callipers i think the ones i have are the ones you need for the mk3 callipers (someone please confirm this either 1 or 1.5mm pitch) if so i will try and find them in the garage and send them to you if you like as i was only gonna throw them away
