Personally I think the whole carbon fibre thing has been done to death and fake stuff is worse. Ive got a CF bonnet and Im glad its painted, just dont understand why you would want a fake CF bonnet. I actually think it looks tacky, bit like anything gold. Thats just my opinion though.

Ok, a better photos of my current set up. The line coming from the matrix/head naturally sits toward the turbo. I'll cut that and get a braided line to sit across the turbo but the question is should this go to the front or back fittings in the turbo or does it not matter which way the water circulates through it? The other line is fairly flexible for placement at the moment. I have a turbo jacket but Im not sure they are a great idea as to me its locking in a lot heat in the turbo casing. The only issue there is will the braided lines handle the temps given out. I do have some of the relfective jackets to slip over the one going over the turbo.

Tried the fog light intakes I bought from StormChargedVR6. Not sure on them yet. They should provide more airflow into the engine bay and help cooling but I might have put some mesh on the back to stop stones flying in. Also considering altering them to direct the air more toward the intercooler.

Must be great having a car thats so good in the first place you dont really need to tinker with  .

Have spoken with Mr Manson. He mentioned trying to tie into the Aux water pump so water circlutaes after shut down. Good idea, ever tried it?

Just realised Im adding a connection in that is not needed. It was the original Samco hoses with the inbult T at the header tank that were mucking me up. I see that what I need to be doing is put the turbo in the coolant loop, what I was suggesting above is adding a side loop to the Turbo. Is that right? With my current set up I will cut back the little house coming from the header and attach the front coolant line to that. I will then connect the back coolant line to the T from the main line. This should save me haveing as many fittings as you Kev. Spoke to GT3 and they have banjo kits going straight back to a -6 AN fitting so that should save some extra potential leak paths.

Spot on, cheers. If you look at my picture below the line thin is already split. The main line ffom the matrix to the head has a small line that attaches to the other end. If I understand it right I can take one of the coolant lines back to this split then cut and add another T for the front coolant line. Will that work or does the back side coolant line need to got directly into the main matrix / head line? Would I be in danger of just circulating the hot coolant round in a short loop if I do as suggested?

Thanks for that, Ive ordered the Turbo from them. Some other photos would be handy. Below is my current set up. Will I not just need to T into the area circled? Where does the head to matrix hoses figure in that you have mentioned? Sorry for all the questions but its a steep learning curve for me at the moment but Im enjoying it even if the bank balance isnt.

Ok Ive found a pic of your set up Kev (can you tell Im getting no work done). So far I see the list required for cooling as: 1. Banjo kit with NPT female thread. 2. 90deg NPT to 6AN fittings 3. 2 x braided hoses with 6AN fittings. 4. Y - diverter block 6. hose to coolant T in. 7. T in to coolant system. Is that it?

Cheers, got the ducts the other day, thanks. What were they like for delivery?

Im going to be asking quite a few questions over the next couple of weeks I can see. My oil feed line has a JIC fitting and the restrictor is AN. I believe they will make up but what sort of pressures do the oil feed lines run at and is this safe to have them made up? Also managed to find this water fitting kit - does this seem ok? http://www.flat4online.co.uk/catalog/pr ... 8-gt15gt35 Obviously still need to get some other bits.

Oh dear, I thought my bank balance was safe until now. Gregs car was looking real nice. Get some photos up with the ProRace 3's.

Wee updated. Had an issue with the turbo feed line and thought Id managed to get away with no damage but looks like the turbo seals/bearings are on there way out. I knew this would happen at some point, just not so soon. Anyway I decided to sell the RH wheels to raise some cash and sold them within 30min. Got a bit of a refund from the insurance on the 24v so Ive placed an order for a Garrett GT3582R. Should get it by the weekend. Its been good learning for me and will need to get some water lines plumbed in for the turbo now as well. Aiming for back on the road for 6th June for the Scottishvag Megameet. Tight schedule as Im racing all this weekend and suppose to be away to Krakow for a stag doo next weekend. Bloody Golf decided to get in the act as well with a leaking rad. Some bad Karma at the moment for me although my team did win the Scottish Cup on Sat. One turbo removed...

Ok I think I see whats required. I'll have to get another oil feed line made up unless I can get a cross over fitting to meet the restrictor thread. With the coolant system am I right in saying that you T into the reservior hose, then split this in two with a line going to either side? How does the water then flow as it that not a closed loop? Any better photos? Also if you dont mind could you list what you bought as Im hoping to get everything back in and running for the ScottishVag meet on 6th June. Got the turbo of tonight, theres a fair bit of play in the shaft but no real sign of oil in the housing.

It wasnt no, oil only. Whats the best set up?
-
Well Ive sold my RH wheels and got some money back from insurance for the green one so Ive just bitten the bullet and ordered a GT3582R. It should just bolt straight up to existing set up, if I break this one I will cry :pale:

Looks likes I'll need a new turbo so Im weighing up the options. Most folk seem to use a GT30 or 35. I quite like the way it drive at the moment with boost starting around 3500 and full around 4000. Slightly earlier would be better though. Where is best to get Turbo's from, GT3, Schimmel, CR ect and is there any good alternatives to Garrett, preferrably cheaper  ?
-
Agree. The colour will still keep it apart from the Gti etc.
-
I'll be honest Im not too sure on them. I do like the one piece versions but the split rim makes them look a tad small.
-
Please tell me your getting rid of the chrome front. Its the only thing I dont like about the Mk5 R. Black would look much nicer.
-
I think thats an understatement. Ive got pulled arches and have ET22 9in rears on and the wheel still sits slightly proud of the arch.
-
Nice one.

Managed to finally get out for a drive tonight after an oil line blowing at the weekend. Got a bit of a shock to find the underside of the car covered in oil but it seems all is ok now. Wheels dont rub at all even with the 45 profile tyres but Ive not really pushed it. Getting some 205/40's for the front and 215/40's for the rear next week.
