Tesion seems to be ok, I thought they had an automaic tensioner anyway? If not how do I adjust it?

Just measured the voltage at the battery, 11.3v before starting (slow starting) and dropped to 10.98v when running. :(

Morning all. I hadnt used the car for a week or so and took it out for a spin on Wed night. After 20min or so I noticed the dashboard lights were dim and the car was idiling about 1100rpm (normally 800rpm). I took it to work yesterday and after 10min of stop start traffic it started idiling @1100rpm again. On the way home it did the same. I went to pick up some wheels last night and it did it again with the revs fluctuating slightly. On the way home when I was giving it some gas the battery light was coming on. Eventually the lights dimmed and the car conked out on the busiest street in the middle of Aberdeen. It was dead. Gave to 10min and it restarted so I drove it the 5min home but it was doing it again. From what I can read its the alternator however is there anything else it could be? The car has been reading low temps and I do have an ABS light on but Ive checked thermostat and Im sure the ABS thing is just a sensor or one of the rear rings as I did the rear brakes recently. I cannot acutally get to the alternator to check it so it there a way to check as to replace it it looks like Im going to have to take the front of the car off :( which might not be possible with a gammy hand and the fact I park on a main street. Sometimes I wonder why I bought this car. As per my sig the car has a 4motion engine and not the normal VR.

Any photos on the car or in daylight?

Echo that. Would be interested in the 3m stuff as well.

If the engine is fine Id stay with the original. How quick do you want it to be? Would you do the engine yourself? If I had that amount of money Id just go for Schimmel cams, remap, filter, exhaust, brake upgrade and enjoy the rest or keep it for repairs.

Picked the wheels up tonight and the car promptly broke down on the way home on the main street through Aberdeen. Looks like it the Alternator :( Left it 10min and it restarted. Managed to get home so I'll look at tomorrow. On the plus side the tyres are Parada II's and in decent nick.

Hey, if I get them then I'll have a set of 15's, 16's and 17's. Nice to have a choice, might even paint them a matt gold finish  .

Well, guess what. Might be getting some other wheels  . Local guy breaking his old car and selling the wheels cheap. Always liked them and apparently there relatively light, back to 17in though. Exactly the same as these.

Out of all the cars youve mentioned Id have the Subaru. Very good and unassuming car is the Legacy.

Its been discussed loads of times before and it really comes down to personal choice. Look wise 17's are probably best, 16in is the best compromise between it and the standard wheels but there are so many different factors to take into account like weight, width, tyres, size suspension. Main thing for me is that if your going for bigger wheels try and get as light as you can. Heavy wide wheels ruin the cars ride and handling.

No point in fitting Wolfsburg edition stuff, the car was never made there. Its was made in Osnnabruck (sp) in the Karmman factory. Common mistake.

Believe me theres nicer places than that. Im hopefully heading over the the west coast in a few weeks on the bike if my broken finger heals. if not I'll take the Corrado. Heres a view from the Invergarry road and theres hundreds more like it.

Realistically there is no market for big V engines at the moment due to the fuel consumption perception. Dont see why as in my experince a relatively high strung turbo 4 pot uses only slightly less fuel than a lazyish V6. Oh and I dont think the R20 is actually getting made either. Its the Gti and thats it.

Same thing happened to me last week. Changed rear discs a few weeks ago and one of the abs rings was a bit loose now the light has come on.

Cannot remember exactly but is was just some Halford tins. Think it might have been a Ford colour. Might be able to check at the weekend as I think I still have a tin in the garage I used.

I wonder what their dogs called..
-
I did just that although there now back to silver as I didnt quite like them with the Green.
-
I must be one of the few that like it then. Apparent big step up in interior quality as well. Id certainly buy one although its pretty much the same price as the new Rocco I would buy. Its an Evolution but a good one in my eyes.
-
Good effort, should be good wiht the new engine. I think I preferred the old wheels and not keen on the cream centres. Oh and why Audi badges?
-
Dark grey.
-
Glad you enjoyed it although that was never really in doubt. What was the best bit for you? Just to annoy you I can do that pretty much every weekend if I want.

Good job, 8) . Just fitted another set myself as well.
