Doesnt sound like genuine D90's and Im not aware of replicas. If that is before adaptors then you will be around Et0 which wont work.
-
Is the ET before or after using the adapters? If its before then I doubt they will work.
-
What was the weather like when you were driving? If it was wet this may point to a coilpack issue as well.
-
Ah, sorry I thought you were doing the rear caliper carrier bolts.
-
Width and diameter of the wheels?
-
What the length of the thread on the original bolts?
-
Not sure on clearance but they are quality wheels and light too. I had a set on my S3 and would certainly buy again. Is it the simple plain 5 spoke ones? I like them. Oh and just to highlight the weight issue I fitted a set of Lenso 18in alloys to the Golf Tdi last week. Car felt a lot slower (despite almost identical RR) and they avergae MPG was down by 10!!!! The ride was terrible as well.

 can you guess what I bought at lunchtime then....Ive been near these things before.

Thanks,

Tried doing a search on this but I dont think its working right. Will be replacing the rear brake set up soon and getting ready for the carrier bolts from hell. When I get them out I'll make up some hi tensile hex head replacement bolts through work but does anybody know what size / pitch the thread is for these bolts and even better what the thread legnth is?

Good work, as Roy Castle said "dedication is all you need"!!!

Well Ive spun the wheel, then removed it and rotated disc, there doesnt appear to be any rumbling and no movement. Checked the outer CV and it has plenty of grease but added some more just to make sure. Still getting the single clunk noise and went out and the rumbling noise is till there. There is very slight movement in the top mounts. Ive still not changed wheels back to front just in case thats the issue but I doubt it. I might just get the wheels bearings replaced as a matter of course and thought it was a good time to fit the 288mm brakes i have but Im finding out that most garages now wont fit supplied components. Will have to wait till the weathers better and do it myself I think.

Well Ive had the Cupra R, S3 and 4motion and they all have there merits. Personally for the Q-car appeal, V6 and 4wd Id go for the 4motion everytime. The other two are very good at what they do but i feel they were a bit to clinical. S3 is ok but a bit dated inside. Cupra R is pretty much the same inside if a little cheaper. Mk4 Golf is such a great all rounder and you can pick up a 4mo for bugger all these days. Probably little enough to buy the car, get a remap and sort the suspension with a few quid left over.

Only trying to help, you learn from your mistakes. It was not directly aimed at you, this just crops up all the time and it one of my pet hates. Both my parents are (were) teachers so you can blame them. Another good site for parts is AVS http://www.vwspares.co.uk/ Hope you fix your breaks!!

Brakes mate, not breaks. Bit like brought and bought that most folk seem to mix up. :brickwall: Rant over, just get the stuff from GSF car parts or Eurocarparts or try ebay. They will be the same as Mk2 Golf 16v brakes I think. If its front you'll need discs and pads. Depends on when they were last done and what condition the calipers are in but generally you dont need to bleed the brakes. The brake fluid should be changed every couple of years mind you so you might have to do that. Never done that myself but from what Ive read it seems a ballache on the Corrado. Rears will be discs, pads and you may as well do the bearings at the same time. Not too bad a job but if the bolts start rounding off or are well and truly stuck it can be a bastard.

Killed my car going through water.. help! ** FIXED **
coullstar replied to Jim's topic in Engine Bay
Most bases seem to be covered but I remember with my old 2l it did something similar in the rain. The car just slowed then died. I restarted but it only last a few minutes. Stopped in a layby and whilst waiting for the RAC I disconnected the battery to reset the ECU. Fired first time and never had the problem again. Im pretty sure its not this but its worth trying. -
Heres some inspiration. 8)

Cool Mk2, I had one as my first Gti about 11yrs ago. I removed the swag line decals, black tape over the bumper stripe and fitted some Corrado G60 wheels. Very simple but fecking loved it.

Thanks, Im still wanting to fit an OE airbox but the standard 4mo wont fit at the moment. Possibly a Corrado VR as I think that is thinner and would fit the gap. Would keep it more OE looking plus keep the noise down a little. Im pretty much going to get new wheels for the Mk4 so I will have the Audi ones above to fit to the Corrado. Could someone maybe do a quick photoshop to see what they are like with the smaller tyres?

Holly schmolly. I was about £11k for similar spec with 30k 14months ago. Bargins galore just now and yeah brakes are awsome!!! I would have another but need a towbar for towing the bike.
