  1. Very good cars for the money plus very practical. I had one with a few tweaks. If you get a remap try and get a progressive one, mine was a nightmare to drive in the winter as it was an agressive map. Still managed 38mpg on the motorway though.
  2. I was thinking of buying the steels, I take it there not for sale anymore then? Not too sure on the bare steel look but car looks good all the same.

    my vr6

Liking that, love the Momo's as well, proper 90's wheel.
  4. I know its been done to death but a light grey centre always works well with that color plus it hides brakes dust well. Coloured outer just look gash im afraid. Just lacquer them, it doesnt dull them too much.
  5. Sad to hear but this is all to common now. One of the reasons Im not going to bother with a respray till I move out of town or get a drive. Oh and its not just minks that do this, I had a call from the Police about my wing mirror that was kicked off in Nov. Police picked the boy up and he is from a wealthy family, just a little arrogant prick.
  6. Thats what I thought. The noise can be heard in a straight line and when turning left however it clears when turning right and by turning Im sepaking about moving from one lane to the next on the motorway i.e. not a lot of steering input. Could it be anything to do with the gearbox? Just trying to eliminate everything before I start replacing things, again.
  7. No play at all from front and only a small amount from rear. I only hear the noise at around 70+mph. Beginning to think it might be rear end now. PITA trying to tell where the noise is coming from though.
  8. Well I drove down to my mothers today and the steering feels tighter but the rumbling is still there. Its more noticable at higher speeds and is only on the RHS. If the rain stays off I'll take a look tomorrow. Now Ive never had a bearing go on any other car before so when I jack up the wheel to check for movement Im assuming any movement is not good? Will check the rears as well I think. Ive only noticed this since changing the suspension I I would have noticed it before I think. Im going to swap the wheels round and give it a try then maybe alter the camber as its running a tad too much at the moment.
  9. If its the rear all you need to do is drill out the plates with 12mm drill. Ive done this in last couple of weeks and they fitted fine after doing this. The rear bolts came with the kit mind you. They are 17mm outer and M12 inner IIRC but apart from that identical to the OE stuff. I did get the two rounded washer that fit into the mounts with the kit as well though.
  10. Do you actually have those wheels then?
  11. Can you do work on the car? If so then the 2l 16v is relatively easy to work on so I dont see it being a problem. When looking at this car factor in how old the tyres, brakes and suspension is plus has the cambelt been replaced recently?
  12. Pretty much the standard cost for 16in from them.
  13. Well I couldnt get a look at the car as Im back at the flat so I put it into a garage round the corner that Ive used once or twice. Turns out that one of the inner bushes on the wishbone had effectively "popped" out and was also worn. Picked it up tonight but not had a chance for a proper drive however it does feel better/tighter now. Couldnt here any humming either but I'll check tomorrow. Quite funny as the guy did ask what the hell I done to to the car as he didnt remember it being that fast before and that it sounded a lot nicer than before. :D He said "too much torque for FWD", fuel saver tyres and greasy roads dont help mind you.
  14. What about these? Got a set fitted to my Mk4 so i could put the originals back on and fit new tyres to these then throw them on the Corrado? Never seen these on a Corrado before but again there only 6.5in wide. Ideally looking for 7.5x16.
  15. Nice, if you dont mind me asking how much for the Compo's?

    8x17, offsets?

I had 8x17in ET30 and the rear was fine (perfect in fact) however the front wheels would rub on the arch lip and arch liner. Probably lowered around 50mm at the front. Remember on a VR we have wider track but also slightly wider wings as well.
  17. Is there any tension in the belt and where was it rubbing. The tensioner is easy to change. Are you sure it wasnt just rubbing on the plastic guard?
  18. Profile is too big as well, you would need 35 profile tyres. Ride would be abysmal as well no doubt.
  19. Yeah but Id need tyres as well and if one gets damaged it would be a nightmare to get another. Thats why im sticking to something relatively common. Ive got a budget and im sticking to it you see.
  20. Right Ive decided that i cannot find any decent exhausts for the Superduke that arent silly money or look ok plus Ive decided to try and rebuild my race bike engine myself so Ive been on the look out at some 16in wheels with tyres. Found these two for sale. Refurbed Polo Gti wheels in gloss black or Seat Leon Cupra alloys. Polo's are ok but Im not sure the design suits the Corrado shape. Bonus is OE wheel so decent build quality and there wearing Goodyear F1's. Seats look a lot better without the centre caps, just not sure on width or offset yet plus the tyre are not well known brand. What do you think?
  21. but you dont have a porsche. Stay with original centres. Never understood why folk go about with Audi or Porsche centre caps on a VW. Rant over.
  22. I doubt the powdercoating process will be that thick. I dont see a probelm.
  23. Surely you can just get them redrilled to 5x100, think how many of the RS4, RS6....reps are double drilled for 5x100 and 5x112. Good offset and width so they would fill the arched perfectly.
  24. Uprated headlight loom. Lupo or TT wipers. Make sure all suspension bushes etc are ok then lower 40mm. Enjoy!!
