  1. It doesnt, just make sure they have the load rating as well. Id agree with the P6000's being useless in the wet, didnt think you could still get them.
  2. I had a can of Satin Silver in the garage so with the manifold, rocker cover etc off Ive given them a quick coat of that and it does look very close to the original finish. Will see how durable it is but is certainly looks a lot better than the mankey corroded, oil stained that was there before. Hopefully wont scratch it too much if (or when) I get the car back together.
  3. Ive got Vredstien Sportrac's on the Speedlines at the moment and they are very good, even coped well at the trackday I was at. I had the Ultrac Centos on the turbo and they were also extremely good. I would pick them as my favourite tyre manuf at the moment plus they are reasonably priced.
  4. Must have missed it but what wrong with the Techtonics one? I loved mine, perfect sound. Cut the tailpipe of this one and get an OE looking tailpip on.
  5. Yer mental! I hate DIY, this is my worst nightmare!!
  6. Theres a Corrado being broken in Aberdeen, I was getting some bits on Sunday. Its a late 8v thats been sitting for a few years but the shell didnt look at all bad. Dont know if you know Roddy (VR6 Storm)but its at his.
  7. Fit the 288's, 312's wont fit without big spacers if at all. I tried with my Willwoods and needed about 30mm spacers either side and they were less intrusive than the standard calipers. Ive also asked if there was an apreicalble difference from 288 to 312 and the comment was no so the 288's are best to allow you to run the standard wheels if need be.
  8. Im assuming the intermediate sprocket cannot move independant from the crank sprocket (if the lower chain is in place) so if the crank timing notches are correct then the intermediate sprocket must be correct. If the cams are them timed correctly using the top plates then everything should be fine? I can understand that if you keep the cams in and rotate with chain tensioner bolt removed then the chain could jump on the intermediate thus screwing up the timing. Is it that simple as it seems to be. I am one of these check and double check when it comes to things like this.
  9. Cool, you realise you have just commited him to a life of constant fear of breakdown and a crippling bank balance!!
  10. I thought Id sent you a reply saying Id got them, sorry about that. Thanks for the getting them to me so quick. The cars done 135k as well. Was just reading some of the online guides and noticed the bit about the intermediate shaft notch being visible, just checked mine as the cams did jump a bit but looks like Im fine.
  11. Sounds good, was going to order one on Monday. How much? Just to confirm its this bit.
  12. Looking good, does need a 90mm spoiler though. What charger are you getting?
  13. Fruits of this mornings work. First time Ive acutally got in about the guts of a VR. Top tensioner has some wear and pitting but nothing to bad, I was expecting a lot worse. Managed to goose a spare cam bolt so I'll just use the wheel and bolt of my standard front cam to get everything back in. Need to order a cam trigger though. Dilema is that do I go whole hog and do tensioner / clutch / gearbox work. I'll be honest I cant be bothered right now so might just through the cams in and wait till the summer when I can work on the thing at night. No power in the garage is a bugger.
  14. I was looking at those M Coupes as well a few months back before I got the Scirocco. I love them. Im happy to get my money back on any car Ive owned, cant say fairer than that.
  15. Bloody Google! Im assuming there numbered in reference to the numbers in the vortex link?
  16. Operation VR6+ has started. One set of 263's with some spare cams to rob the cam wheels from.
  17. Ive got my cams and will hopefully be swapping them this weekend however I cant find the torque and sequence that the cam caps need to be torqued to. Can anybody tell me please.
  18. Exactly the point, will still do 154mph max'd and how often does that happpen.
  19. Yep, and guess what has come up as a breaker near me. Its like its almost meant to happen. I think its acutally a CNL code now but still the same ratios. Very hard to find as I think it was only the UK that got these. Just ran some gearing charts and the 3rd to 4th shift point is down from 107mph to 88mph. That sounds more like it.
  20. Does anyone know what the gearbox ratios were for the 8v engine? Ive tried the search but it couldnt find anything. ---------- Post added at 08:53 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:36 AM ---------- Well I didnt try hard enough. Some info below. Looks like its a CGY box with some lovely ratios. http://the-corrado.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=11426&d=1296920353 http://www.gti-vr6.net/wiki/index.php?title=VW_transmissions%27s_ratios Question then is could the whole lot be dropped in a VR casing?
  21. No thread build, its a pure track car and running FWD. Gets the power down very well and he is running 15inn 888's.
  22. The sump on mine sat low so chopping mounts will make it lower still. Get a bulge bonnet or try and get a Mk5 R32 sump and pump.
  23. Straight line there wasnt much in it with the Clio's for me, same with the turbo MX5. Got the tail moving about a little but the lack of low down grunt was apparent when coming out of corners. The standard gear ratios really are **** on track, I only used 2nd and 3rd all day. Already enquiring about box rebuild to change that as I do feel it on the road as well.
