Gorgeous... wheels are spot on too :)
-
Deviboy, I'll keep an eye out for sure :) Joe

It will prise out with a screwdriver - and the replacement slots in very easily by comparison. I bought a replacement from GPC for around £40 including VAT and delivery.

For those of you who've not seen this before... http://forums.s2ki.com/forums/showthrea ... genumber=1

Looks mighty fine...gotta applaud the commitment mate.

I'm up for this, certainly. Joe

Hehe, hadn't realised the disc holder was such a faux pas - guess I better sort it :D Thanks for the replies. I intend to keep it looking standard to all but the discerning eye at this point. The FK coilovers are the HiSports, ride height adjusrtable but not damping adjustable, but I'm very happy with them on the standard wheels. Ride is about hard enough for me at the moment however, so although I've thought long and hard about bigger rims, ultimately I decided to stick with the Speedlines. Henny those are actually the sidelights, only reason they're on is that the good old headlight switch broke the night before and I couldn't turn them off ;) [/i]

94 Black magic, Swissol'ed up and discreetly lowered on FKs as only mod at present, exhaust and airfilter next on agenda. Back was originally lower but after a few speedbump moments decided to raise it to current level, still about a 40mm drop in total.

Getting FK coilovers next week... can anyone recommend anywhere which could provide corner-weighting for my C in the North West? Joe

Not at all ;) I just queried this after being told different things by different NUD employees on different days of the week  One of their underwriters ended up telling me that if I drove a mate's car which wasn't insured I would be covered. However Andi made a good point, whether PC Plod would then pursue my mate might be a different matter. Depends if the police got involved in the first place I guess... Does make you wonder though, if the insurance reps are unsure of the rules regarding this what chance do the public stand? Joe

The last bit is not quite true, I'm afraid. The vehicle HAS to have insurance in order to be on the road. That excludes you driving the car 3rd party with fully comp. on another car. Every vehicle has to have its own cover - in case of it any harm coming to another vehicle/human/etc. whether the vehicle is moving, parked, nicked, etc. Hi Andi Well, you're right, with Brando being the registered owner / keeper this is true. If he wasn't he might have got away with driving it under the third party extension but it's now a bit of a moot point :) FYI, the NUD certificate states "under the terms of secftion 2 - liability to third parties - the policyholder may also drive a motor car not belonging to him/her or hired to him/her under a hire purchase or lease agreement." All the insurer is covering is their policyholders legal liability whilst driving - not the car themselves. As such there is nothing on the certificate which makes this provisional on the vehicle itself being insured. However if (for example) the car's handbrake broke and it rolled into something they wouldn't pay out and the registered owner / keeper would be personally liable. Joe

Bummer :( You're going to have to get another policy; and pay 2 months up front to get it started. If you set up a monthly payment plan you may not lose more than this initial payment if you cancel in the first 6-7weeks, depending on when you set the direct debit up for. Different insurers have different cancellation rates so check the options out. There's one other thing - which is a bit naughty but hey ;) Most big insurers now give you a 14 day period at the beginning of a policy (if they are to be compliant with the General Insurance Standards Council) wherein you can cancel during this time "if the policy doesn't meet your needs," and get a full refund so long as no claims are made. If you only need 14 days cover...well... Joe

Check your insurance certificate. Some companies (Norwich Union Direct for example) insure their policyholder to drive any other car or bike not owned by them third party only - whether it's insured already or not. So if the vehicle's registration documents are still in your parents name you might be OK to drive it under this extension...if Adrian Flux provide this of course. Just because the person you spoke to didn't mention this doesn't mean it wont be on your certificate. If you want comprehensive cover though you are a bit stuck I'm afraid. Joe

Has anyone tried the BMC "Carbon Dynamic Airbox" system which appears on the Stealth website? It's pricey but Stealth seem impressed... Joe
-
Very nice looking car dale :) Wheels are sweet also - is it lowered at all? Magnex exhaust? Joe
-
Autocar did a group tyre test a few weeks back - Pirelli P-Zero Rossos and Goodyear Eagle F1s came out as the best all-rounders FWIW, although they didn't test every tyre brand out there. Toyos were disqualified after the test set performed rather better than the off the shelf equivalent...
-
Yep, the faulty cam sensor did for me... still at least it should be a quick and cheap fix. Excellent day though, very impressed with Stealth, sorry I couldn't have stayed longer is all. Joe

Green Corrado with bodykit, M6 northbound close to the M56 turnoff? about 12:30 pm Sunday... Joe
-
Thanks for the replies gents. Yeah, the sound is constant, and present when the car is stationary - it's just louder towards the rear. I guess changing the fuel filter would be an inexpensive first thing to try! Regards Joe
-
My Corrado has taken to humming at me... a constant low humming coming from somewhere towards the rear of the car which is present irrespective of load. Is it likely to be the fuel pump, or are there any other possible contenders? The car seems to drive without any ill effects at present. Any help appreciated Joe

Well the standard didn't cut it...perhaps there was a factory fitted option? What year Corrado Dazzy and is there a VAG model number for the immobiliser? Quite interested by this... Joe
-
Jez, sorry mate but standard fit security on the Corrado is NOT Thatcham approved. Now, this can be a bit of a minefield with insurers: - If you speak to a salesperson and they ask about security, and you give an answer like, "yeah, it's a good system, factory fitted, the previous owner had not trouble insuring it..." the rep may say "fair enough," make an assumption (which they shouldn't do but it happens) that it's CAT2 and move onto the next question. When you get your documents through it will say "CAT2 security fitted." The fact that frequenty the insurers do not ask for proof of installation when you take the policy out, means they are taking it "on trust" that you meet the criteria. However if you need to make a theft claim, the insurance company is entitled to ask you to provide proof of this there and then. If you dont have a certificate of installation, and if VW can't back you up re the standard system (and they can't), goodbye claim payout... Good news is you can get a Meta Cat2 immobiliser fitted for about £100 which will not neccessitate you changing the alarm. Joe
-
Good news! I'm pretty impressed with your insurer to be honest - who are they? Certainly that repair bill will be over the 60% of the car valuation in Glasses, so either they must be allowing for the fact that it's becoming a collectible car, or your just very persuasive :) Joe
-
Twan, just remember: You're a long time dead. Bear this in mind when making your decision :) Joe

I'd be really interested to see the 'official' Autocar Road Test Jamie :) Joe
