So what did you do to your C over the bank holiday??
JoeNose replied to 24V Renshaw's topic in General Car Chat
Found my C's first speck of rust on the front wheelarch from a stonechip. Bugger. -
One of the sweetest Silver Cs I've ever seen!

Their insurance should pay for it all, if they do not. End of. This is from the 3rd party liability section of a policy booklet: We will insure you for all amounts which you may have to pay as a result of you being legally liable for a persons death or injury, or damage to a person's property, as a result of an accident caused by the following: * Your car *.....etc Do you know who his insurer is? Any hassle contact their third party claims phone line directly. If he totally denies it was anything to do with him though, and there's no witness, the insurer would just view it as your word against his and may well refuse to pay. Hopefully after they saw how angry you got they wouldn't be that stupid ;)

I rang up for an insurance quote today for my 20vT syncro...
JoeNose replied to biggerbigben's topic in General Car Chat
It's not a universal thing, but many insurers do have this 'policy.' Mainly as a means of screwing more money out of you. Of course telling your insuruer your car is valued at over 5k does not mean by any stretch of the imagination that's what they would give you if it was written off. Unless you have an agreed value policy, which not many insurers offer. -
Like there was ever any hope :)

Apology accepted :)

Tell him he's got a nice motorway cruiser, even if the steering is acknowledged to be sh*te and gives about as much feedback as a dead kipper. You, OTOH, have an infinately more entertaining Drivers Car. And if it proves rather less reliable than the Mk4 Golf, that of course just makes it quirky and gives it character ;)

Phoned Vince today and left deposit with him directly, cheers Kev.

Damn shame:( But OTOH I quite like the Records: Just a bit concerned they'd make standard brake discs look a bit weedy.

Looks like you made a favourable impression  http://www.vr6golf.co.uk/forum_viewtopic.php?2.5891

What would a Shrick VGI normally cost?

Regarding point 4, plug a diagnostic computer into the car and have it check the ABS system - either an official VAG1551 scan tool or VAG-COM on a laptop PC. You will have to go to a garage for this I would guess. Sounds like the ABS light should be reporting a fault but maybe the bulbs gone. If you're lucky the fault is simply a wheel sensor which are inexpensive to replace. If you're unlucky the fault will lie with the ABS pump itself. Which erm, isnt :? Point6 - I also get the centre dial illuminted on my car, but the left and right dials are extremely faint. I live with it. As to the others - there will be people on the forum far better qualified than me to comment, so I'll leave it to them. Welcome to VR6 ownership :)

Looks excellent Seano :)

Red 'K' reg Corrado in Liverpool centre (Duke Street Area) on Tuesday, driven by a laydee who was looking a bit lost?

Blackmail - or "Driver Improvement Programme"
JoeNose replied to stormseeker's topic in General Car Chat
Hmmm, pay £125 or have some sanctimonious tw*t tell you not to drive carelessly....for the best part of a day and a half...possibly out of your works holiday entitlement. That's a surprisingly tough choice... :( Refusing the highway robbers on general principle may be the way to go ;) -
Just passed 75K.. but with a replacement engine becasue the previous owner was (apparantly) clueless :)

Stevenmcc, I sympathise, that's awful. As its the cost of the ABS pump that's by far and away the main part of the initial bill, do you know if the ABS at least was working when you took the car in (warning light going on then off when you started the car)? If the pump really is knackered you might be interested to know I obtained one for my C for £125 from a salvageyard. As opposed to £1400 for a new one. At my local VW dealer, after having a small bit of work done what drove me mad was that the receptionist refused to allow me to speak to the technician who had worked on the car (for whatever reason, who knows). We ended up with me asking a question, him going away to relay it, then walking back a minute later with the answer. After this farce had gone on for a few minutes I gave up in frustration. Oh and he also told me that the slight misfire I had reported made it sound like the car "was running on 3 cylinders." It's a VR6, of course. Avoid, although as noted in another thread, their parts guys are always really good.

Great looking G60 Jim, congrats :)

Well, I'm using the FK Hisport coilovers and am quite happy with ther damping on them...exactly what benefit the Konigsport damper adjustability provides for normal road use as opposed to track use I wouldn't be sure of, but would doubt it would be much to be honest. Only other factor is that I'm using 15" wheels.

Got mine OK :) They are smoked - much to my relief. It's not as dark as some I've seen but overall I'm happy. Joe

Elephant gave me an amazingly good quote, (about £770 comp with full NCD) and as I'm in an 'E' rated postcode area that was easily the best price I got. However I decided to go with Chris Knott purely because they were able to offer an 'Agreed Value' policy. If you've spent a lot of money on your C it's the only way to be sure you're covering it for a fair amount.

I think around 7k is fine if the car is as spot on as you suggest. I was prepared to pay about that for a minter, maybe ask for 7 and accept 6.5. Below 6k is underselling IMO, unless you need to sell quickly. Of course this really should be a moot point though as you will regret it if you let the car go... ;)
