  1. Got to be the VRS out of that bunch.
  2. No, it's the even more gutless 1.6! The 2.0 litre is alright actually. I'd have the 2.0 out of the bunch because the V6 just uses more fuel and doesn't give enough of a return. None of the engines are a match for the Rado line up of course. I think the stripes are there just so people notice the car. If someone pitched up at our showroom and wanted to buy it off us (it's really just a demonstrator that I get to take home with me) we'd more than likely take the stripes off. And it certainly does get noticed! For every one person that comes to our dealership who hates the stripes there's one person that loves them. Since I've started selling Hyundaisaiss the difference between the new stuff and old is unreal. Just compare the Getz with the i30. I can hardly believe they're made by the same manufacturer. And the stuff they've got in the pipeline is really gonna show the badge snobs where to stick it! It's like they've all of a sudden got really serious. The Genesis stuff is shaping up nicely. Looks like the Coupe will be out in the US early 2009 with talk of a V8, but it looks more likely to be fitted with a 300+bhp 3.8 turbo charged V6. The 375bhp 4.6 V8 engine is destined for the Genesis Saloon which will give it a 0-60 time of 6 seconds. That's out this summer. I just pray they import it into the UK because they are still considering whether or not they will. If they do I think I'll make sure I'll be having the keys to the demo every evening! :D
  3. Personally I love it! 8) Most of you are going to hate it. But it's currently dividing opinion on a Hyundai forum so I thought I'd sit back and let it do the same here! And don't bother comparing it to a Ford GT or a Dodge Viper. It's been done ad nauseum elsewhere. And no it doesn't (quite) have the performance to back up the stripes....
  4. I was going to try and think of something witty and ironic to say about the car. But it's beyond my mental capacity to do so and I'm too depressed after looking at those pictures. :(
  5. True, that is an extreme case. And Jim makes a good point, would you trust yourself with a 500bhp car? The fact of the matter is it's probably only the people that stop and ask themselves if they can handle it that are the ones that should be allowed to drive these kinds of cars. People that are under no illusions about their level of experience/ability.
  6. When I have kids they are going to be exposed to fast, powerful cars as soon as possible. I want to teach them respect for what is most likely going to be the most dangerous piece of machinery they come into regular contact with. I also want to teach them that driving is one of the most pleasurable things you can do but it is not about outdoing other road users. The old adage "someone will always pull up beside you in a quicker one" holds true for the vast majority. And where's the fun in beating somebody who has a slower car anyway? I don't blame that guys parents. The tragedy is he just didn't know where the limits were. But I think we are all guilty of having done things on the roads at some point that could have ended very differently if we hadn't been so lucky....
  7. You get this when driving it properly  Yep, that's about right! Oh, I drove mine properly... don't you worry about that.
  8. Think I averaged about 25mpg.
  9. is any phone call important when driving i hate to sound old but what happened when we did not have a mobile phone we all survived did nt we I agree mate. And out on the roads today a van almost went into the back of me when I was out on a test drive with a client because the van driver was on his mobile.
  10. Obviously I wasn't there at the time but I very much doubt the phone call was that important!
  11. Does it only happen when you turn in one direction?
  12. That's a great idea! Someone ring him! Someone who isn't me because I'm too scared.
  13. If there are Rados like that on the other side of the gates of Hell then I'm glad I'm a sinner.
  14. monkey, I hope for the sake of humanity you are right.
  15. Well, like the man says:  And I just love: What, hasn't it got any?... Well, reading it again, he probably did mean to put DOCH. I was just being an ass.
  16. Problem with the advert? Where does one start? Perhaps with the fact he seems to think he has a Double Over Cam Head engine. But I suspect that can be put in the "typo" category. Which is a large category. Then we can start another category entitled "I do not have even the most basic grasp of grammar". I am unable to detect anything in his description of the technical specification of the vehicle that is dubious, but then I'm not overly familiar with the car in question. Perhaps the most glaring thing I can see is that he goes on about what great condition the car is in only to admit at the end the condition is somewhere between not all that great and complete sh!te.
  17. You're a mechanical engineer? Shouldn't have thought a G Lader was too much bother for you then! :D Judging by the before and after shots it looks like the hard work paid off. Bummer about the MOT but keep at it mate. You'll have a wicked car to enjoy over the summer. Could you not trailer to work or summat, or is that not practical? I love the park job on the mk2 as well! If I dumped a Golf on our front lawn my better half would kill me!
  18. That looks sweet mate. I love what you've done with the bay. Nice and clean. Did you do the charger yourself? What did it fail the MOT on?
  19. Only done 500 miles in five years? I think that rather puts me off it even more than the price.
  20. Well, you know what McLaren are like with nicking other people's stuff... just ask Ferrari! As for Beaulieu I've gotta make the trip at some point. :D
  21. I would gladly offer my services. I have space and really decent tools, and a Bentley manual. We have a big driveway where I am living now in Stowmarket that would be good for most jobs. It's a little uneven so wouldn't want to do the mounts on it mind. I'm not hugely experienced but I've done a head gasket on a valver and loads of suspension and steering type stuff on various cars, including a mk4 golf. My only problem would be time mate. Work is going to be obscene for me in the coming few months. But if you need a hand with anything on a specific day let me know and I may be able to be of some assistance. :D
  22. That Alfa is heartbreakingly lovely, and I know I'm going to be shot down for saying this, but every time I see it I just think Enzo. There's just something about the front end. It's no carbon copy I can see that, but it just reminds me of an Enzo. :? Enzo? saw one of those last weekend - had a lovely day at Beaulieu... I can see some similarities between the noses of the two cars. Alfa is more rounded though. You're lucky, I've never seen an Enzo in the metal before.
  23. Get out. Buy an Iroc...dooooooooo it ;) Ok, ok, I'll do it. But they're not out for ages yet. Just nobody is allowed to come near me in a VR6, ok? It's a long time before the Iroc comes out and I'm weak of will.
