  1. Yes that is the idea but I just don't believe that so many VRs simply can't provide oil to the head sufficient to fill the tappet and keep them filled (it takes a LOT of physical pressure to force the oil out!). They should just work just fine. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.
  2. I suspect it's rarely the tappets. I am under the impression the VR clatter is probably due to the oil pump drive gear. After three or four sets of tappets most people who claim they get tappet noise never get rid of it by replacing tappets. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.
  3. They always run better with fresh oil, for sure. The other stuff I've never heard of, but if it's able to clean coke build up then it's probably as good as a few long runs, which also makes the car run awesomely.
  4. Eastern Daylight Time? Ethylenediaminetetraacetic Acid? Electro Dynamic Tether? A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.
  5. The earlier car had an earlier ECU with no immobiliser. It also ran a less accurate and less reliable MAF sensor. I'm not certain what other differences there are.. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.
  6. VR6 had the wide track front suspension and five stud wheels too, there were a lot of differences in the drive train. Anything at all with a turbo will give you 200bhp, more or less. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.

Ok. If it was down at 11.8 and that was the resting voltage, with literally nothing turned on, and it's recovered to 12.3 with nothing happened in between then I'd be a bit worried for the state of the battery. Definitely put it on charge. Consider getting one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371876076928 A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.

11.8 volts is nearly flat. Give it a charge. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.
  9. Yes. But we can't.. When you see a supernova, or the north star, or whatever, you are looking into the past. Those photons left their source however many years ago and represent the star as it was at the time.
  10. And so would you, in the opposite direction.. I should say that there's no chance you'll ever be "in space" far enough away from everything that you won't experience gravitational effects from *something*, even if it's so far away that you can't actually see it. So in practice you will fall towards something and either hit it or go into orbit around it eventually.
  11. I believe the ECU can be scanned for faults on the 2.0 16v, with the right cables. Worth a try. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.
  12. If you printed those you could be minted before you know it.... A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.
  13. I suppose it's hard to tell when it's a bit of a mix. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.
  14. Surely everyone knows the difference between steam and burned oil coming out the exhaust..? A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.
  15. Yes, but appreciate the thought! I will pick up the Makita tonight and probably give it a whirl later in the week or at the weekend. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.
  16. I'm down near Reading, but I was looking at the midrange Makita 4" sander. It's about a hundred quid at screwfix. Looks like a good compromise to me. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.
  17. I am inclined to buy a belt sander for this job as it's something I ought to do every couple of years. The belts can be pricey but e.g. screwfix sell packs of five for about £7. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.
  18. Yes, thanks for that. I'm getting a number of votes for belt sander as the initial bulk prep method with a course grain belt. That will probably do, tbh, it's not an internal surface and it doesn't need to be super smooth. Just really needs the loose splinters taking off that's all. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.
  19. Orbital sander or belt sander? Or even something else? Any experience to share? We have about 35m2 to sand and treat. The boards have fine grooves. I can't guarantee all the screws sit totally below the surface but they aren't sticking up much. It's about 10 years old I would guess and has been sporadically cared for. I've pressure washed it nice and clean but there's a lot of splinters etc.. Cheers! A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.
  20. I wish "burning a bit of oil" was top of the list of concerns with my Corrado! Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk
  21. Unlikely. It usually burns oil on the overrun, not on constant light throttle running at 3000rpm, which is what the MOT test does. Anyway, as others have said, it's likely it will be years and tens of thousands of miles before anything significant happens. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk
  22. VR6? Funnily enough I had this replaced recently.. you can get a new pair of hoses for about £16 off eBay, but you will probably snap the plastic crack pipe union whilst removing the hose from it so get one of those too. If you're unlucky you might lose some parts of the thermostat housing too.. they inevitably go brittle over the years. As for access, disconnect the inlet manifold at the joint to the cylinder head lift it out the way and you should have enough space to get in.
  23. The VR6 can have bore ovalling that causes oil consumption without having significant running issues. Point about it all really is that that is the only symptom, so you put up with it until the engine starts to run badly or you find yourself feeling flush enough to drop a couple of grand on a rebuild.. 24. Why does it even matter? Why sell a good running car you love just because it's burning a bit of oil? It'll run for years like that.
  25. OP was asking about quality, not personal preference. I have no experience of the brand however, so can't comment on quality or fit. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk
