  2. hi, basically ive just brought some JL audio front speakers from my local JL audio dealer, they are 5.25in or 130mm. Took the door card off removed the original vw speaker, went to put the JL one in and realised it dont fit, its ever so slightly smaller than the original so it wont fit on to the four pegs :mad2: has anybody had this happen to them with aftermarket speakers and how did you get around the problem?? i would understand if i payed a tenner for them but i paid 90 quid for them :cuckoo: :mad2: surely if i order a 5.25in front speaker for my car it should fit surely!!!! :( any help and advise i would be most grateful regards chris

  10. just looked on Piston heads and on the home page they were reviewing the E30 M3 EVO now not a huge fan of BM's but respect the german build quality of the old stuff however i would have one of these E30 EVO's. this got me thinking what else is in my perfect garage here's my list in no particular order: 1. AUDI QUATTRO SPORT or S1 2. MK1 Golf GTI (got one) but if i had another would love one with either a GTI engineering lump or an Oettinger 3. Corrado VR6 (obviously) 4. Polo G40 5. BMW M3 EVO E30 6. Golf G60 Limited (a hand built legend) 7. Audi RS2 Estate (quick car you can put the dogs and kids in) or the RS4 8. Porsche 911 turbo 9. Golf R32 (MK4) 10.Golf G60 edition one (just for the colour you know the purple 1 and the interior alone lol) I know its sad but we can all dream :D cant we, anybody else got a fantasy car garage!!

  12. Went to my local TPS today to pick up some VAG gear box oil for the VR6, and they told me that the 1 litre bottles are now obsolute, they only do them in half litre bottle at £10.00 a bottle you need four, £40 quid for two litres of gear box oil!!!!! :cuckoo: come on VW have a word!! :nono: can anybody recommend a good quality gear box oil for the VR6? i believe its 75/90w oil that goes in a VR many thanks chris
  13. hello, i have an Alpine CD player (cda 7893R) in the C but would like to connect my Ipod up to it, is there a fairly easy way of doing this? the only way i know i could do this is by getting it to tune in to the radio frequency, but is there any others way of coneecting it up? many thanks chris
  14. Simon its for four springs mate,55 quid plus the VAT each. i might do what you said tho if H&R dont help me out :(
  15. Is that for two or four springs? Most of the German spring makers charge about £60 per 60mm / 2 1/4" ID "race" spring. So if it's for four that's about "right". You could just order what you want from Spax/Gaz/Falkner, price is about half that of the German stuff, just check the length of what you have on the back now and order a pair the same length but a little softer, see how it goes, if you don't like it just chuck em on flea bay and try again Cheers Simon its for four springs mate,55 quid plus the VAT each. i might do what you said tho if H&R dont help me out :(
  16. piano does it make a big difference having the eibach on the rear mate, does it make the ride harsher at all???
  17. yeah your not wrong H&R want £253 for the lower spring rate, i personally think you such be given the choice when buying the coilover kit!!
  18. cheers for the advise guys, one more thing i noticed that H&R used to do a progressive spring, what is the benefit of this? cheers chris
  19. haha you beat me to it veedub21 lol :) as mentioned terry towelling cloth, they do make a big difference
  20. NA rinse with a hose wash top to bottom, with shampoo in warm not boiling hot water rinse again dry then use clay kit some people do the wash process again at this point thats up to u then use pre wax cleaner now at this point you could use a polish, BUT some polishes are abrasive basically your taken a very small layer of your paint off, some condition the paint, some have lots of silocones in them and the wax hope that helps mate cheers chris
  21. Firstly how deep are you pockets mate cos it all depends on how much your willing to spend, i dont mind auto glym as thats the stuff i started on, but there are better products out there and two what colour car you got? firstly, the most important thing is your wash process, i use a Megs wash Mitt NOT a sponge, Megs Gold class shampoo, dry, then i would use a clay kit, this will make your paint work as smooth as glass, then a pre wax cleaner and then good quality wax, i use DODO Juice (40 quid ish), detailers like the megs speed detailer and there ulimate detailer are fantastic products. if moneys no object Zymol is the way forward, i use there pre wax cleaner, awesome stuff hope this helps cheers chris
  22. sounds to me like a fuel or timing problem, you can check the fuel pump relay first bypass it on the fuse box with a wire on the terminal that the relay came of, be careful when doing this tho, if you here your pump starts working crack it and see if it fires up if i does and runs fine it the relay, the other one i would look at is crank position sensor hope this helps mate would worry about the water mate, cheers chris
  23. HI all, please could you give me a bit of advise, Basically i brought some H&R streetstyle coilover before christmas and fitted them, ive done around 200 miles in them now, very pleased with them overall, handles beautifully, build quality is first class stainless steel struts etc, but i find the rear a little on the firm side, especially (believe it or not worse on my 15" speedlines than on my 17" BBS splits) :cuckoo: the car sits 590mm from ground to centre of the arch 600mm on the rear, i did bring it up 5mm alround when i fitted the speedlines back on, and it seem stiffer (compressing the spring) so it back now on the above measurements. i wrote to H&R in germany (very helpful btw) and they say the coilover kit i have is the softest of the range they do however they would supply me some custom springs basically i have 70Nm on the front and 50Nm on the rear. they can supply me with 10 to 20Nm less if i so wish, well the front is fine, when driving it you wouldnt know it was lowered, in terms of ride comfort, so my question is, is it best to take them up on their offer and go for 40Nm rear springs or a 30Nm ones. is there going to be a noticeable differents? any help i would be most gratful as i dont fully understand spring rates
