Any VR owners felt the need to get a 2nd car?
g60karmann replied to Veearrhsix's topic in General Car Chat
Best thing to do is get drunk go on the computer when you get back in at 3am and go on ebay - cars - ending in an hour - and buy the first car that makes your drunken self say cool and also has 12 months mot and tax :D -
umm why is my petrol paying for the NHS  thought that was what my national insurance was for
-
either that or we could run on pure meth
-
I accept that I will put 97-98RON fuel in my car and that it will drink through it like no mans business but what I don't like taking is a stiff hard shafting in the arse in the shape of 52.35p per litre TAX!!!!! how does that seem fair? when i was in belguim a couple of months back I filled my car up for about £45... thats £15 cheaper than UK and only a couple of hundered miles away. Why hasn't petrol got the standard VAT 17.5% then noone would have any need to complain?
-
yeah live off of bread, cheese and water before giving up the rado... mmm cheese

looking completely environmentally here it is becoming a larger problem when mass amounts of people are getting rid of their car for newer cars. my reasoning is the same as the idiotic idea of upgrading your mobile every year If it ain't broke don't bin it more raw materials comsumption, waste and damage to the environment occurs from the production and servicing of a car than getting 45mpg instead of 25mpg. CO2 isn't the issue wate for the sake of waste is. I personally think petrol is still cheap for what it takes to get / refine / deliver, admitidly if it was cheaper I wouldn't complain. What I don't understand is why the TAX is so high on petrol and then we have to pay another seperate road TAX?!?! and when our roads are so cr@p as well?!?!?

The "what I did to my Corrado today" thread...
g60karmann replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
I am pretty damn impressed with my G60 although when I saw a couple of the turbo'd and super charged VR's at the stealth rolling road meet all that power and the sound was tempting... but it will never be the same sounds as a G-Lader :D -
VW dealer service for my Corrado. Good price?
g60karmann replied to MonkeyVR6's topic in Suppliers Forum
sounds about right for a dealer but would be a lot cheaper in an independant garage, the best thing if you don't feel like doing it yourself is to asks friends and family for a garage you can trust -
Sometimes I just wish the C was a bit nippier :(
g60karmann replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
I wish my g60 was faster, but I think that wont change no matter how much I increase it I will always want more :D But for off the lights fun the best thing I have done is the VR 1st n 2nd and with the KW's on now I haven't ended up facing the wrong way on a dual carrage way round about  -
welcome!!! please fill the pages of this thread with pics and specs galore, I wanna see these throttle bodies!!!
-
I can't rate either but BBM produce some sweet products and for around £60-£70 you can get one from them http://www.bahnbrenner.com/vw_audi/products/476/8V_Adjustable_Cam_Sprocket

Ah always good to see more g60's appear in the forum :)

I have KW Varient 1 coilovers dropping about 45 all round with standard bbs 15"s and 50 profile tyre I have found these to be a perfect set up (except the speed [strike:zsudsepn]ramp[/strike:zsudsepn] mountain either side of my house) very limited body roll, smooth ride for daily driving and big pot holes aren't too cringe worthy (i think the wheel / tyre size effects this the most)

it always looks cleaner without the rear wiper, it hasn't bothered me not having one for the past year

The definitive "What Air Filter?" discussion thread
g60karmann replied to CazzaVR's topic in Engine Bay
seeing as your the boost monkey and into the engineering side of motor sports, ever thought about having a go yourself at designing a complete boost pipe replacement kit for FMIC and SMIC g60 corrado's? I know a good place for pipe / intercooler fabrication -
what is it that you got for sale the engine / box?
-
an especially big pain when the crank bolt goes ai tim :norty: how is that all going, back on the road now I hope?
-
LOL 215bhp is the goal! I got 178.9bhp 169.9lb ft with only an air filter and exhaust, I have seen 215 with stage 4, FMIC and remap only, so easily reachable
-
most of the complaints I have heard are from people that use it as a daily driver and these are mostly aimed at the struggle to get it set up and continue running smoothly. I have heard that now with the original ECU things have got better with fault finding, but for me nothing beats the simplicity of a 8v with a g-ladder. I'll always want more power but for a daily driver 215bhp on a front wheel drive is plenty enough for some fun :D and until i can afford to get one of these http://www.lightningcarcompany.com/ I'll be stricking with the engine I have
-
boo should have kept the g-ladder I don't know anyone who has a 20vt conversion they are completely happy with
-
looking at the size of it, it's a bit smaller than the sprinter intercoolers and depending on your other mods, most people see a 20bhp increase with the sprinter FMIC's. Either way it will definetly be more than the standard damage prone and poorly ventilated original. Plus will look cool :norty:

if you are doing a lot of motorway driving get the vr 1st, 2nd and 5th gears put in I can sit at 80 just over 3k rpm and get 38mpg but the when heavy foot kicks in the low 1st n 2nd are great :D
-
The original BBM RSR outlet is generally a better outlet for the g-ladder than the rallye ubend, plus BBM will even port the RSR outlet to match a race spec g-ladder! I will be interested to see the pipework you get made up as well. I've just got my RSR outlet and a full set of BBM boost pipes for my original intercooler, but am getting a fmic in a couple of months, I was just going to get a samco hose made up into the bend from the RSR to the intercooler but a solid pipe might be better.

could be your water pump mine sounded like that for a little while then it turned into a all the time sound  I started thinking it was the dreaded crank bolt, but I already sorted that out! most of the noise was coming from a knackered bearing in the water pump, but also from the cam belt tensioner pulley, aux belt tensioner and guide pulley were also a little noisey. Although mine didn't dip up and down rpm the lowest it goes on dropping the clutch even in traffic is 800rpm and generally sits smoothly, it was just a chugger chugger chugger sound.

LOL, so just to clarify again, I have a G60 with a massive crack in the windscreen - other than the crack I think it'll pass it's MOT, so if I remove the screen it'll pass without one? This is technically true although I'd hate to think what could happen to the structure of the shell if you ragged the car round a couple of corners to the MOT center  cars like the KTM X-BOW don't have wind screens so why should any other car need one for an MOT
