  1. There is a reasonable chance its the aux belt tensioner bearing.. You can buy the bearing for a couple of quid and replace yourself (its in the how to). Have a look/listen under the bonnet- I'll even have a listen for you! (I only live on eccy rd! :-P )
  2. Isn't the shield just to stop the sh!te getting onto the brake discs- its not part of the stub axle and you can buy it separately.
  3. A lot of positive comments on the handling, but IMO the interiors are just total rubbish even with the best leather trim, : Thats not actually the case- I have been looking into getting a Puma for a while now to replace my current 2nd car, a 206. There is a special edition Millenium Puma which come with full black Recaro leather- it looks awsome :) the down side is that ALL Puma Millenium's are bright yellow which may not be to everybody's taste. If you lool at the car review websites, there are very few people who have anything bad to say; I'm actually really looking forward to getting one :-P
  4. Hi Neil, I have PM'd you the user guide for the Laserline 996V3- there is a fair chance you have this model fitted. Should answer all your questions 8)
  5. I got the basic Swissol Onyx wax which came with some sort of pre-wax cutting compound. I had a rear quarter with bad swirling- and when the light caught it it looked awful (I think hologramming is the technical term) I cut the panel back rubbing only in straight lines and then used the wax- it came out like a new panel :)
  6. You have PM! Its a high end Alpine one whose name escapes me- I think they are famous for being 'bright'
  7. Joking aside- i was thinking about padded out the speaker grilles with something to take the edge off the highs! Its worse with MP3's which seem have the guts of the midrange taken out but stil ear piercing highs! Kev- you reckon put the tweets out of phase then? is that both tweets out together? or one 1-way and the 2nd the other? I might try that- how does that work then? Cheers
  8. Good call on the Balloons Smee- I never thought of that 8)
  9. Why would a lead make a ticking sound if it was loosely connected :? I had the same problem with mine when I bought it- exact same symptoms- I made the seller take it to his local VW specialist while I was there- it was the plug that had come slightly unseated by a turn or so- and was moving slightly under cylinder compression. he whipped the lead off tightened the plug- lead back on- no more ticking 8)
  10. Whilst being no expert- I had a problem with my old Vaux Corsa SRi and had to get an expert diagnostics chap out- it WAS one of the injectors, but the Fella said it was only the second faulty injector he had ever seen. What I guess I'm saying is that one certainly wouldn't replace the injectors as a matter of course (like you would HT leads), as they only fail very rarely. I would only replace once you are sure everything else is OK!
  11. A Stunning car- the dash is a work of art - enjoyed the vids too- tho the older ones where you were ragging it round the garden made me laugh- neighbours must have been aghast :)
  12. Think its a repost- but definitely worth watching for people who haven't seen it yet :D
  13. Its great to see someone taking so much pride in their job- looks really nice :)
  14. Yes- its in Buxton, Derbyshire. The place looks lovely when the sun shines- unfortunately thats not very often and the rest of the time its truly grim! Yes I was pleased with the photos- the mystic blue is such a funny colour- in the first pics on page 1 it looks almost black- the last ones look like a light twilight violet!
  15. I'm not sure you should ever get fuel leaking from a fuel filter regardless of the weather conditions- If it was my car I would get the the connections renewed (assuming thats the problem) I'm not even sure how any pressure could even build up TBH- the tanks vented so unless there is a one way valve in there somewhere? but even then would it pressure to more than the 4bar pump operating pressure?
  16. No- Mine are on the car (probably original)- I just need to replace them thats all.
  17. Yep- I am in just the same situation- mine are like a round sponge ball with just small bit that looks like the ones in the first pic. I am going to order some from VW but have no idea which kind are going to turn up. The bulbous ones are certainly shorter than the ones in those pics tho!?
  18. Yep- fronts were riding on the stops- cut them down and there is movement again in the fronts! Have a few issues with the rears also- I have PM'ed you Mike (Edwards) as you seem to be a bump-stop guru and also have knowledge about the Bilstein sprintlines!
  19. Funny you should mention a Lambo. I WAS in the middle lane a few weeks back on the M69 and had a Lambo come past at nearly full chat- I reckon 160mph; he had obviously been provoked by an S2000 which came wazzing past a few seconds later (and that was shiftin as well!) Cheers
  20. Took the VR out to work for a change today. In the fast lane on the M1 and a white van comes up behind so I move into middle lane but he doesn't come past- I look over and there is a young-ish fella looking back at the car- he mouths 'Nice-car'- smiles and burns off! Well chuffed!
  21. My VR used to do 420 miles on every tank when I was doing a lot of big motorway stints- I would have thought 360 would be easy peasy?
