As Steve 16v said the 3000gt is 4wd. However the Nissan 300zx is a very similar kind of car- does have rwd and is a country mile better than the 3000gt (despite them both being very similar is size/ looks/ power etc!) I also am a big fan of the fiat 20v turbo- especially the late ones with the bodykit- its a shame the seats aren't a bit sportier though. Second choice could even be a Mazda RX7? Cheers

Whats a good price for S/H Mk4 Rear Calipers?
Ice White Socks replied to Ice White Socks's topic in Drivetrain
Ah- good point about no exchange required from VW- how much are they new from the stealer then? Cheers -
Hi, Just lost out on some Mk4 Calipers on Ebay so I'm gonna have to get some second hand ones :x . Found a website for a Volks-apart that looked good- had Mk4 Caliper for £35ea or £75ea new. Is this a good price or could I get cheaper? Should I get second hand ones or new?- Mk4's aren't gonna be that old so surely 2nd hand ones will be OK- will they :? Cheers

Suspension Preferences and reccomendations!
Ice White Socks replied to tarche2's topic in Drivetrain
I have got these on mine- they are a quality kit but maybe a little on the harsh side. No-one here seems to use them but if you do a seach on google you'll see loads of car forums seem to think they are ace :) -

Have a look also at the Bilstein Sprintline kit if you are happy with no-adjustment- Its a quality set up although a little harsh if you are driving around on rough roads all the time -
Thanks Kev- A bit too 'bespoke' then for someone like myself (i am more plug & play!)- I'll stick to my MK4 front and rear caliper plans then! Those TT calipers did look sooo nice tho :( Cheers
-
Ah- I was gonnas ask that question as there are some TT rear brakes on ebay at the moment.. so these will fit direct to a Corrado then! What will I need? just new vented discs? plus will the pedal travel suffer? Cheers Mike

Nice Link Paul- there is some good stuff on that 'owners still enjoying its prodigious capabilities' etc :D

Cheers Gavin- Your right of course now I think about it- a blown boot bulb wouldn't be allowed to interfere with the alarm (which would have the same effect as disonnecting the boot light) I have tried locking myself in the car but they deffo aint working. I'll have a look at the alarm box again- maybe I dislodged a cable or something?
-
It looks bonkers doesn't it. JBS service my car and he fired that Mk2 R32 up for me- An awesome car!
-
Hi, Just a quickie- I have disconnected the boot light completely due to fitting audioscape sub- but now the Ultrasonics don't work! Are the two things related? The alarm (laserline 996v3) still arms OK without making any extra chirps which it usually does if owts not right. I'm just not sure what the logic is- would it think the boot is always open and turn off the Ultrasonics? Any alarm meisters know? Cheers Mike

Steve, Have you tried Vince at Stealth. I have the 288mm fronts but am sticking with the original rears (no pun intended :) - though I remember reading that the later VR rear calipers were less prone to siezing?) He is doing me a set for under £75- so thats normal rears and MK2> Mk4 fronts- dunno if thats a good price? I hadn't priced up the sets TBH

Petros- Sorry mate but the GPC website last got updated around 1972. The VR6 Grille badges are indeed rare beasts as a few people have said- You'll just have to keep an eye on ebay (watch out for the VR6 grilles that come complete with the badge- quite a few people miss fact it comes with the VR badge and so go quite cheap) Cheers

OK- One last question on this from me.. Are the mk3 288's the same as the mk4 288s? Only reason I ask is I know the Mk3 288's must fit behind solitudes, but I have had a look at the 280's on my Storm and they seem a pretty tight fit as it it is- are these mk4 288's definitely gonna fit behind them? I thought I had better ask before ordering the pagid FR's, new discs and hoses! Thanks
-
mmm you see I got them off Ebay and actually get the discs too. Is the choice then use the mk4 discs with spacers or use the mk3 288mm ones. Its kind of academic cos I am buying some new mk3 ones anyway- so I have a pair of part worn mk4 discs in the unlikely event anyone wants them? Cheers
-
Cheers for that mate- I'll try and see what I can get.
-
I have just picked up some mk4 288mm calipers. Does anyone have any details on exactly whats spacers are needed to make them fit- plus can I buy these spacers or do I just cobble something together when I get round to fitting them? Plus will it be obvious how much 'spacing' is required Edit- I also have the Mk4 carriers as well- will these be OK as long I use the 288mm highline discs? I read one post on the forum thats says the MK4 carriers are different to the MK3 highline ones  Cheers for any help (I always get a bit nervous with stuff that isn't a straight 'off the shelf' part) Mike

18months!!I would give me right arm for a set that lasted more than six months on the C- especially those Toyos :D Interesting comment about them going out of shape- they do look a bit oval actually (although Its probably just me as I doubt they go oval enough to actually see the difference). I have already checked my bearings and they seem fine- so I was going to ask the mechanic to have a double check and maybe replace the back two bearings on the off-chance. My Toyos are on the tread indicator on the back so I may just get a new set of tyres Cheers
-
mmm funny you should post this- I have just the same- Toyo TI-s and a road noise like a wheel bearing gone-even though all four 'feel' OK! Cars going in to a garage soon and this is one of the things they are looking at so I'll keep you posted. Been using TI-S's for a few years though- never had this before :-(

In-car video for trackdays etc- any advice?
Ice White Socks replied to Ice White Socks's topic in General Car Chat
Oh well- Don't really fancy getting banned from the place. Still want to get some good footage down on tape. I have just bought a little lapel mic with a three metre lead and will do some runs with it mounted in the engine bay and see what I get- Just need a good place to put it- out of any airflow but in a place to get a good engine note- It might sound Sh!te but I'll give it a try. Suprised more people don't do this- especially the VR's that have such a lovely soundtrack! Cheers for advice anyway 8) -
Hey- whilst that doesn't quite answer the question- that is a good link! there is some interesting stuff in that technical section :)

Hi Guys, Been looking to get an in-car vid recorder set up before I take the car out to the 'ring in late spring. Using a high-spec sony palmcorder so the pics are fine- having a bit of trouble with the sound as it seems to pick far more road noise up than the in-car vids I watch on the internet- and yet I always thought the Corrado was quite refined (ie quiet) Anyone got any experience/ advice on this- Can I filter out the road noise later in an editing program? Or what about having the mic under the bonnet and then messing around with the sound levels later? TBH the whole effect is in the sound- the video alone doesn't really convey any sense of anything really- which is why I want the sound spot on. Cheers for any help. Mike
